Question for Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone

I am at Herbology Class, and I recieved the Diffindo Spell. There is a troll in this area I am in after you get the spell. I use Spongify and he hits it, but nothing happens. How do I finish this part of the class?

You do not use spongify on the troll himself you use it on the squares with the orange squiggle on it but you have to get the timing right I think. Good luck if you havn't already finished that part.
