There are 23 total characters in this game You start out with 10 and you have to buy the rest. First you have to beat story mode then there will be a new option in story, it will be select a story, you can play each match as many times as you want, the stories are also numbered. There are 20 already. Now you can buy new story mode matches. Buy up to match 24 and beat them. Then you can buy the new characters. They are:

Haku

Rock Lee (dont have to buy him)

Zabuza

Iruka

Shikamaru (dont have to buy him)

Sakura (dont have to buy her)

Kiba (dont have to buy him)

Guy

Neji

Naruto (dont have to buy him)

Sasuke (dont have to buy him)

Hinata (dont have to buy her)

Kakashi

Ino (dont have to buy her)

Gaara (dont have to buy him)

Kankuro

Akamaru

The Crow

(For these next characters you cannot buy the next one until you bought the one before it)

Nine Tailed Naruto

Kakashi with Sharingan

Mizuki (to use him press x while selecting iruka)

Orochimaru

Sasuke with Sharingan
