An excellent Metroid gameAdded 8 Jun 2017, ID #9566
Even though Metroid Prime received negative criticism for having the first-person perspective when people seen the trailer, but it is one the best games that the GameCube has to offer. It's the first game in the Metroid Prime Trilogy story line wise. The plot is that Samus picks up a distress signal from the Space Pirate space station called frigate Orpheon where the crew were killed by their own genetically modified subjects. She meets and defeats the Parasite Queen, one of the Space Pirates experiments. The space station's self-destruct sequence is Samus defeats it and it fell in the reactor core. While escaping, Samus see Meta-Ridley, a cybernetic version of Ridley, who escapes also. An electric surge and explosion damage Samus' suit causing some of her items like the charge beam, the Morph ball, and the Varia Suit to malfunction. When Samus escapes, she see Meta-Ridley and run to her gunship and follow him to Tallon IV, a planet that's nearby.

Samus has to find 12 Chozo artifacts to get in the Impact Crater. You can scan creatures, Pirate data, the Chozo artifacts, Research, and Chozo lore. There are a lot upgrades in Metroid Prime like missile packs, energy tanks,The Varia suit and other. You will start the power beam and you will find the wave beam, the ice beam and the plasma beam. Each beam has upgrades call beam-missile combos which are called the Super Missile (power beam upgrade), Wave Buster (wave beam upgrade), Ice Spreader (ice beam), and the Flamethrower (plasma beam upgrade). To use one of the beam, you can press up (power beam), right (wave beam), down (ice beam), and left (plasma beam). To use one of the beam-missile combos, hold down the A button then press the Y button at the cost of missiles. You can lock on the enemies bhy holding the L shoulder button. The wave buster and flamethrower will drain the missiles quickly. You will start with the combat visor and the scan visor and you will pick up the thermal visor displays a thermal image and allows you to see in the dark, and the X-Ray visor which uses X-Rays to produce an image that helps Samus locate invisible or timespace-warping enemies and see behind walls. You can select a visor by pressing up (combat visor), left (scan visor), down (thermal visor), or right (X-Ray visor) on the d-pad. All of the items and weapons you will pick up are spread out in Tallon IV. The main bosses are the Parasite Queen, Flaahgra, Thadrus, Omega Pirate, Meta Ridley, and two forms of Metroid Prime. There are different sub-bosses between the main bosses except between Meta Ridley and Metroid Prime. Tallon IV, like Zebes in Super Metroid, is a huge planet and it will take you at least between 3 to 4 hours to complete. I like that Metroid Prime is compatible to the Game Boy Advance and you will need Metroid Fusion for Game Boy Advance to unlock the Fusion suit and the original Metroid.

The graphics are awesome and they have aged well and the design of Metroid Prime is very good too. The controls are superb and it holds it own when you compare it to the controls of other first person shooters. It has one of the best soundtracks in the Metroid franchise and it is fun to listen to. Overall, Metroid Prime is the second best game in the series and one of the best games for the GameCube.

Metroid Prime's ups and downsAdded 6 Jun 2011, ID #9292
Metroid Prime is the first in a trilogy of games in the Metroid Prime series(the second being Echos and the third Corruption). The story starts as always. Samus gets a distress signal. It comes from a Space Pirate Frigate above the planet Tallon IV. When she gets there she sees that space pirates are experimenting on Phazon, a powerful and deathly chemical. Samus spots her long standing enemy, Ridley destroying the frigate. She flies to the planet below after losing most of her suit's power-ups, destroying the frigate, and to chase Ridley down. She soon finds out the Space Pirates have gone far along with their research with Phazon, and could dominate the universe easily now. This game has a lot of new features. The fact of being able to scan things is introduced. Also 3D maps are new features in the game. Metroid Prime's storyline is everlasting. When you beat the final boss, Metroid Prime, the game can end in different ways depending on how many things you scan. The credits roll and if you restart the game, you will be at your last save point. But the controls take a little while to figure out and a small part of the storyline is predictable. All in all the game deserves a 9 out of 10.

This game is very good and is a gamecube classic (literally) in the shops.

Sound: The sound is very good and especially the gun noises and the monsters.

Gameplay: The gameplay is superb and is so hard to complete because its such a long game.

Graphics: The graphics are very good and makes the enviroment look realistic and cool.
