I was going through my drawer full of old Game Boy Advance games when I came across this little girl. I haven't played it in ages and decided I'd give it a shot. While on some websites I noticed they either didn't have a walkthrough for this game or the other ones didn't really help that much. So here I am to the few of you who still play this game. The game is turn-based meaning you take turns attacking. There are really not that many weapons you can use for each class and when you get the whole Fellowship it feels like you're a god till you get into your first fight in Moria and half your party dies. Fighting is hard but it is easy to overcome if you have some of your lesser party members heal. If you like the RPG game style you will either like this game or hate it. You don't level up any of your guys by fighting and fighting enemies does you no good expect to get past them. If you don't have this game do not go out and go looking for it unless you just happen to come across it and it is under five dollars. =============== Version History VERHS =============== Version 1.00 - December 24, 2007 - File Size/68.5KB - One and only update. I have done everything and hopefully anything you can do in this game. This was meant to help you while killing some time for me. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me and the bottom of this walkthrough. ======== Controls CONTR ======== Basic Controls -------------- A button - Action L button - Open Fellowship Menu R button - Open Inventory Menu D-pad - Move Character Around Start - Pause ------ Combat ------ A button - Select item / target enemy or ally B button - Cancel D-pad - Move Cursor Start - Pause --------- Inventory --------- A button - Select Item / Accept B button - Cancel D-pad - Move Cursor / Change Start - Pause ========================= Items, Weapons, and Armor IWARM ========================= Healing Items ------------- Athelas- Restores 10 HP. With only the Hobbits fighting them though they can pick a fight so avoid them at all costs if you want to save some of your health potions for later on. Goblin Damage: 2-8 Health: 12 Skill: 10 Goblins are lesser creatures, there are many and they live in Moria were they overthrew the Dwarves. They are not that strong health wise but a group of them can easier overthrow any challenger. Olog-hai Damage: 5-10 Health: 50 Skill: 21 Olog-hai is not to be messed with, they pack a mean punch, and one of them can easier take out a member of the Fellowship if not taken seriously. Orc Commander Damage: 4-8 Health: 20 Skill: 17 Orc Commanders are rare but are that much of a treat. There like Orcs expect that there skill is far higher than any first class Orc. Orcs Damage: 4-8 Health: 20 Skill: 13, 14, 15 Orcs, the main treat that the Fellowship faces after leaving Rivendell. There are many and they do pack a nasty punch if not eliminated quickly. Spiders Damage: 2-4 Health: 8, 10, 12 Skill: 8, 9, 11 Spiders are what the Hobbits face early on during the Old Forest. There not hard but yet fighting to many of these creatures too much will lower your health to a point near death. Trailing Plant Damage: 1-2 Health: 2 Skil: 2 Trailing Plants are a sad thing; they live in the Old Forest and wait till you get close enough to attack you. They only take one hit to defeat but they do get really annoying really quick. Troll Damage: 5-10 Health: 40 Skill: 19 Trolls are a nasty bunch that early on in the game they will take down one of the Hobbits in no time. They should be avoided at all costs unless you must fight one. Warg Damage: 2-4 Health: 30 Skill: 18 Wargs are also a creature that in a pack are deadly. They don't hurt much at all but there health is what keeps them kicking and attacking. ========== Characters CHARA ========== The Fellowship -------------- Frodo Baggins / Hobbit Frodo Baggins is an orphan who was adopted by Bilbo Baggins. Merry was born a natural leader but his pranks with Pippin get the best of him at times as he is thrown into an adventure with Frodo and the gang. Pippin is one of Frodo's closest friends and being born with so much privilege Pippin and Merry tend to get into a bit of trouble. Bilbo has always been a quiet little Hobbit until Gandalf the Grey one day came and dragged him off on an adventure, since then Bilbo has never been the same. Gollum / Hobbit Once a Hobbit all Gollum seeks now is the One Ring that Bilbo had taken from him ages ago. Gollum is a creature that has never been seen before, only Frodo really knows who Gollum was once before the One Ring corrupted him and made him lose everything. Gollum pressures the Fellowship day and night, never taken his eyes off his precious. Nazgul / Men Also known as ringwraiths and black riders they have one purpose and one purpose only, seek out the One Ring and return it to Sauron. The nine Nazgul were once Men who were given a ring of power that Sauron used against the nine to transform them into Nazgul to serve his every command. They are the most feared creatures and can not be killed by any weapon. Arwen / Elf Daughter to Elrond of Rivendell she helps Frodo reach Rivendell in one piece and just in time to. Arwen is in love with Aragorn which plays into a bigger part later on throughout the Lord of the Rings. Elrond / Elf He is father of Arwen and the leader of the last remaining Elves in Middle-earth. Elrond holds a secret council meeting to decide of what action will be taken next with the One Ring. Tom Bombadil / Unknown Not much is known about Tom, he lives in the Old Forest where Frodo and the gang pass through for a moment. Within that time Tom Bombadil has helped the Hobbits out of more trouble than they could ever replay him. =========== Walkthrough WALKT =========== Prologue -------- Now we all have either seen the movie or read the book so expect spoilers. If you haven't seen the movie yet or read the book, shame on you. Just skip the Prologue than. Bilbo is throwing a party in Hobbiton to announce that he is leaving on an adventure. After a talk with Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo heads off to leave on his adventure and leaves the Ring for Frodo. Gandalf tells Frodo that he is in danger and he to must set off on an adventure. Samwise Gamgee is caught eavesdropping on the conversation and now must accompany Frodo on his quest. Gandalf, as smart as he is comes up with a plan to throw off Sauron's minions. You are 'moving' away to Crickhollow, not. So here our adventure begins to try and destroy the One Ring. -------- Hobbiton -------- Before heading on out explore Bag End and collect what few treasures it holds. Right in the room where you start there will be a cold coin on the floor by the door. Go up though the entrance hall and make a right at the first door to the right. There will be a bronze coin on the floor in the second room. In the third room there will be a sandwich on the table. Make sure you pick up the silver spoon on the first door to the right in the entrance hall and than leave Bag End. Head left till you hit an end where dried leaves will be laying on the ground for you to pick up. Follow the path and stop at the first house on the left after going down two sets of stairs and it goes on to the next screen. Go into the room to the right as some text will appear. Pippin will now grow your party to make you take much stronger against Sauron's mighty minions. Exit the room than head up into the next, talk with the man who will make you some pipeweed. When he asks if you want Longbottom select 'no', talk to him again and than select 'yes' on Southern Star. You can't use it now but later in the game it will come in handy. Continue to go up though the rooms than out the final door on the left to pick up a yellow mushroom in there backyard. Go right once leaving the house till you hit another house. Take to the lady and she will give you a stick for your sliver spoons, it is your first weapon, use it well. Do not let Frodo use the stick, he will get a better weapon; give it to either Sam or Pippin for the time being. Enter the next room and pick up the cabbage on the floor. There is a trader outside the lady's house to the left. The trader will sell you a dragger, a sandwich, and a squib firework. Buy the dragger and the sandwich, always by food from a trader whenever you get the chance. Head west till you hit Bandy Harfoot's Farm. Here you will battle a scarecrow. Walk toward it to begin battle, click on the weapon you wish to use and than click on the enemy you wish to hit. For now it is only one enemy which doesn't even fight back. Level Up! Frodo has gained a level! Frodo's on his first steps of a big adventure, his fighting skills will come in handy. For the first two times Frodo levels up you will want to raise his health rather than his skill or he will die quick. Here are some tips when fighting later on in the game. Attack one enemy at a time, it will take down the enemy quicker and save your characters from taking to much damage. Focus attacking the enemy closest to your weakest character. The enemies attack your characters basically whoever is straight in front of them so taking out the ones closest to the weakest characters will help you later on. Pay attention to all your characters health and have the characters in the back heal the others while the stronger characters with more health do the attacking. The most important tip of all is to protect the Hobbits at all costs. Once you have the whole Fellowship the Hobbits will do you no good, use them to heal and only to heal. Exit the farm and make your way southeast till you hit another house which you can enter by a field. Talk to the man inside who will have you deliver a message to Amos Appledore. Accept it but do not worry about it right now because this message will not reach Amos for some time. Leave the house. Go west and pick up the willow withies in the corner of the fence by the tree. Make your way south till you hit the last building to your right. Enter it and talk to the first man who will make you a walking stick with the willow withies you just picked up. Give either Sam or Pippin the final weapon; which ever who doesn't already have a weapon on them. Head south once more till it moves on to the next area. ------------------ Green Hill Country ------------------ Follow the pathway till you encounter a man named Dougal Brackenfast, if you speak with him he will tell you if you walk around the Three Farthing Stone you will be lucky. Go east a couple steps till you see a stone; this is the Three Farthing Stone. Walk around it three times and a bronze coin will appear from the ground, how lucky. There is a house all the way to the west after the Three Farhing Stone but all there is inside is some notes on singing in the hills, you don't need to read them unless you really want to. Go up the steps right next to the Three Farthing Stone and go northwest. A trader will be selling an old toby, a longbottom leaf, and a stick. Buy either an old toby or a longbottom leaf. Go to the right and follow the pathway down till you meet a man who wishes for some pipeweed. Give him some and he will give you a dragger, give the dagger to whoever has a stick and than toss out the stick. Follow the path and up the stairs, the next area will load and you will see your first enemy of the game walk around, a wild dog. Walk toward it and the battle will commence. Just click on your strongest weapon and than the wolf, this first battle is a walk in the park. If you do happen to get to hurt though eat the sandwich to gain some health back. Go with the pathway and than down past the girl. You will come across a ringwraith; you do not want to mess with these guys. Level Up! Frodo has gained a level! Frodo barely dodged the ringwraith but proved that he is smart enough to handle the tough path ahead. Now you may either choose health or skill, I went with health again because there will be stronger people later on who will back Frodo up in skill while Frodo takes the hits. Go back up where the lady was standing and than up the stairs to battle a more difficult battle. Save before you start the fight or risk losing everything till the last save point. There are now three wild dogs and they do pack a nasty punch. Have everyone in your party attack the same dog, heal when you need to but save it for Frodo unless you have extra. For winning the battle you will earn a gold coin and a red mushroom. Go back to where you encountered the ringwraith and than go west into the house. A trader here is sealing a red mushroom, a blue mushroom, and a sandwich. Buy everything there if you can afford it. Go into the house in the middle of where you met the ringwraith and accept the letter he tells you to deliver to Sancho Proudfoot in Hobbiton. Backtrack to Hobbiton, deliver the letter to Sancho in Bag End, get the gold coin, and than come back in front of the house where you got the letter. Go southeast into another house where you can buy small leather armor, fine small leather armor, and a squib firework. Buy everything but the squib firework and equip the fine small leather armor for Frodo and the small leather armor for whomever. Follow the pathway up and around the corner to the right. Keep moving to the right, go up the stairs and into the house of a gold coin. In some versions of the game you and exit the house and than enter it again to keep getting as many gold coins as you wish. Go west and meet an Elf who will tell you some notes. Go south and than touch the stumps in this order; low, high, medium, medium. After the nights stay you will be off on your own again. Level Up! Sam has gained a level! After a lifelong dream of meeting some Elves Sam has finally achieved his life long goal. Sam doesn't really get attacked that much at all throughout the game so increase his skill to give Frodo some man power. ------------- Maggot's Farm ------------- Be sure not to steal anything from Farmer Maggot until you are done getting the bonus items for not stealing anything. A ringwraith blocks your path so you must go though Farmer Maggot's land. Go though the easy maze and make your way inside Farmer Maggot's house. Talk to Farmer Maggot and if you didn't steal anything you will get a reward in Stock when you get there and now you can take anything you want from his farm. Level Up! Pippin has gained a level! Heeding Pippin's advice you didn't steal anything from Farmer Maggot, given Pippin the right to advance. Take the gold coin and the bronze coin from their house and than the bronze coin, cabbage, blue mushroom, and red mushroom from Farmer Maggot's field and head off to Stock in the south. ----- Stock ----- Go to the small wooden building in the center of the town. Speak with the man in the center of the tavern and give him some pipeweed. In return he will give you some cabbage to help you in the next couple of minutes. There is also a trader selling a blue mushroom, a sandwich, and a cabbage. Buy everything but the cabbage. Head to the northeast and into the house which holds pipeweed on the floor. Go to the house down south and collect your reward for not stealing anything in Farmer Maggot's farm. Have who ever has the stick equipped to equip the swing. Go south and fight the two wild dogs that await you. They are not hard one bit with your new armor and weapons. Collect the bronze coin on the ground after the battle and than drop the cabbage on the switch to head off to the next town. ----------- Crickhallow ----------- Merry awaits you as you enter the town and takes you to your new home. Once he is in your party be sure to equip him with the newest weapon and armor. In the upper room there is a gold coin and a stick for Merry. In the room to the right there is a draught and a sandwich. Leave Frodo's home and go into the house to the east to get another sandwich. Outside the man's home right south in his little field are some reeds. Go north and up the stairs, talk to the lady who will make some bog shoes for you to cross into the Old Forest with the reeds you got. Enter the house right next to here and talk to the man who will buy one cabbage off of you for a bronze coin. There is a trader down the stairs and in the building to the west who will sell you a draught, knife of the dead, and boots. By whatever you can afford and equip your items to the people who need it the most. Go east and cross the bog where you will enter the Old Forest. ---------- Old Forest ---------- The Old Forest has to be the second worst part of the whole game; you will know what the worst part is once we get there. It is confusing, at times hard, and will have you walking around forever. Good thing you have me to cut short of all the trouble. For now all but one path will lead you to the same spot and you must find that one path to enable the next part of the storyline. In there start area there is a stick, a dragger, and two red mushrooms all in different corners of this area. Head southeast two screens to find a stream. Cross the two bridges as a tree known as Old Man Willow grabs Merry and Pippin and now you must rescue them. Exit this area to appear back at the start of the Old Forest. Go right one screen and than down one to find a well. Drop a coin into the well as a tune will be spit back out at you; note 1, 2, 3, and 4. Not hard to remember at all, leave this area. There are enemies along the way so either avoid them or finish them off. Head right three screens till you appear at four stumps. Play the notes in this order 1, 2, 3, and 4; Tom Bombadil will appear. He will help you out if you acquire some items of his first. First item on the list is a blue feather. Exit the area and go back to the starting point, go left two screens to find Tom Bombadil's home. Go all the way down south and fight the spiders that protect the blue feather. They can put up a fight if you have battled too many enemies already so be careful. Collect the blue feather and exit the screen than go right three screens to return to Tom. Now you must collect some willow withies that will free Merry and Pippin from Old man Willow. From the start of the Old Forest go northwest one screen, then southwest two screens to find the willow withies and a bronze coin. Go back to the starting area and go northeast, northwest, and than northeast once more. Go in front of Old Man Willow and the willow withies will be planted. *This part is optional and only leads to some items and enemies* Go southeast once than northeast twice from the start to fight two spiders that earns you a pair of boots and a yellow mushroom. From the start head northwest and than southeast twice to meet Acacia Willowthorn who needs your help to free here home of some spiders that made it there own. Go inside and kill those nasty spiders, make sure you are healed up, for your reward you will have earned yourself a health potion and a bronze coin. From the start go northwest, southwest twice, northwest, and northeast. A man named Hamor will be trapped by eight plants; you may either fight your way to Hamor or sneak around the plants for an easy, safe way. He will sing a tune for you; high, low, medium, low. Travel northwest, southwest two times, northwest, than southwest. Three musical tree stumps will be in this area, play it in the order Hamor sung it to you: high, low, medium, low. You will earn a knife of the dead when you complete this. *Optional part ends here that lead to some items and enemies* From the start head northwest and enter Tom Bombadil's house. Collect the items thought Tom's house. There's a sandwich, a draught, a squib, a gold coin, and a piece of cabbage. Talk to Tom when you are done collecting the items. Level Up! Merry and Pippin have gained a level! Freeing both Merry and Pippin from Old Man Willow has paid off. After a speech with Tom Bombadil, Merry and Pippin have never felt stronger. From the entrance hall of Tom's house make a left at the second door on the left and leave though the next door to make your way into the Barrow Downs. ------------ Barrow-downs ------------ The Barrow Downs is not that long or hard at all in one bit. The enemies though, if not treated with caution can kick you in the butt. Keep the healing potions on you and ready just in case. The northeast of the first clearing has an acorn on the ground. Entering the cave on the northwest side, inside there is a barrow-wight that guards a door. Defeat him and a clue on how to get through the door will appear, "An oak drops it to the floor, only an acorn will open this door." Well it is common sense it what it wants, an acorn. Drop on inside the hole and collect the two items in it, a bronze coin and a small shield. Be sure to give the small shield to the person who gets attacked the most which is either Frodo or Pippin. Collect the barrow-blade to the left or where you defeated the barrow-wight and than leave the cave. Enter the cave to the right of this one and take the door to the right as you enter the cave. Collect yet another barrow-blade and exit into some more fog. Continue going straight till you hit another cave right across from the one you just left. Defeat the barrow-wight in here and claim once again another barrow-blade and in the room is fine small leather armor, and a sling. Leave the cave than head northwest for another cave. Collect the gold coin than go all the way back around out back into the fog and back into the first cave where we first came into this area of fog. Go back into the main hall and than head northwest to collect a bronze coin and a small helmet. Go through the door and you will be in another area of fog. Head north where a cave to your right will be, enter it. Defeat the barrow-wight and grab the reeds in the back corner and through the doors where another riddle awaits you till you can enter Bree. "Found by bog or stream, worked into shoes by the woodsman's weave." This riddle can be a little more difficult if you don't think about it. Put the reeds you just picked up into the hole to unlock the door. Finally Bree has come and you will be safe once more. ---- Bree ---- Bree has no enemies in here so take your time, relax, get to know some people. Enter the first house on the left and talk to Amos Appledore. If you have the letter on you still hand it over to him for a nice reward. In the back room there is a small helmet on the ground. Level Up! Pippin has gained a level! Being a delivering boy has many rewards, getting stronger are one of them. You will gain two levels if you stole from Farmer Maggot and one if you didn't. Either way Pippin is now at the level he should be. Leave the building and enter the first house on the left in the new screen for a trader. The trader is selling a old boot, a squib firework, and a yellow mushroom. The building to the northeast there is another trader in the building selling a sandwich, a sling, and a fine sword. Up the stairs of this man's house you can pick up a sling for free. In between the two traders house's is an alleyway that leads to another area of Bree. To the southeast is yet another building with a trader in it, he is selling a small helmet, an old boot, and a sandwich. Enter the Prancing Pony to the west to meet some new faces. Enter the room to the west to find a Dwarf who has lost his boot, if you brought an old boot from a trader talk to the Dwarf again who will give you a gold coin. There is also some draught near the Dwarf. Level Up! Sam has gained a level! Sam is always there to help out people in need, this time his generosity has paid off. Talk to Barliman Butterbur, the owner of the Prancing Pony in the main hall, he will tell you that your room awaits you whenever your ready. Head to the right and enter the first and last room to pick up a bronze coin and a dragger. Enter the main hall once again and head through the northwest doors, your room is the last room in the hall. Aragorn will meet you in there and join your party. Be sure to equip him with a fine sword that you can buy off a trader since the weapon he starts out with, Narsil is broken and is weak. Leave the Prancing Pony and this screen also till you are in the screen with the two trader's houses. Go northeast though the alley and enter the building on the left. Get the leather armor for Aragorn and have him equip it. Go to the gate near the Bree Armory and solve the riddle to leave Bree. "Two eyes, a nose, and a gaping mouth, forged by fire, square or round." If you really took the time to talk to everyone in Bree you should know by now it is a helmet. Throw a helmet into the hole and move on to the next part. ------------------ Midgewater Marshes ------------------ There are two ways to get to Weathertop, either by the Marshes or the Road East of Bree. I will cover both and you can go from one area to the next if you want all the items and levels. Go northwest to collect Athelas on the ground then head east to choose your path, north for the Marshes or East for the Road East of Bree. For the start we will start off at the Marshes. Skip down to the next part if you are going through the Road East of Bree. Go along the marshes until you encounter an old lady who needs help defeating a barrow-wight to the southwest of her. Go to the southwest and defeat the barrow-wight you must travel south than west to get to the barrow-wight. Return to the old lady once you have completed the task to earn a gold coin and a fine sword. Head south till you come across three switches. Hit the left than right switch to raise the stones to be able to cross over into the next marsh. Going north you will encounter another set of switches only a few steps away from where you crossed over. Hit the right switch, bottom than top switch to raise the stones and than cross over to the next set of marshes. If you head west you can collect two red mushrooms. Head northwest to find switches with this time five or them to push. This one must be done fast for the stones to rise for you to cross to reach the gold coin and a small shield on the other side. Hit the switches in this order; top right, left, bottom right, top right switch. Cross back over from the two items area and head northeast to one finally set of switches. Hit the tops left, top right, bottom left, bottom right, top left to be able to cross the stones to reach Weathertop and the leather armor on the way. Level Up! Sam has gained a level! Sam's cleverness has helped you countless times on this adventure. Not only where you able to collect all the treasure throughout the marshes but also raise the stone to get past areas that no other person has done before. Once again it has paid off well. --------------------- The Road East of Bree --------------------- The Road East of Bree is long and can take some time. It doesn't really pay off to go this way but you do find some good items and a level up. Follow the path down and north and talk to the bandit who claims his brother in the path to the north stole his mother's necklace. In the middle of the two bandits is a sling on the way to both of them. Follow the path by the bandit in the south to the east, once the path splits up head north to fight from wild dogs. Defeat them and collect the Athelas and gold coin they were protecting. Were the paths merge there is a trader who is selling fine small leather armor, a small shield, and a dagger. Keep following the path to go to Weathertop; you will be stopped by a pack of wild dogs. Defeat them and you will be allowed to pass on to Weathertop. Do not go to Weathertop if you want some extra items, read on. Level Up! Aragorn has gained a level! Protecting the Hobbits is Aragorn's one main goal, he is doing well. Back by the bandit to the north is a small shield up the flight of stairs by him. Go northwest off the path by the bandit to the north and up those flight of stairs and than up the next for some Athelas. Go back down one flight of stairs than follow this mountain west till you come to a cave, enter it. Fight the spiders in the cave and collect the items and the necklace in the room though either of those doors than though the next. Talk to the bandit to the north and he will give you a bow. ---------- Weathertop ---------- Go up the flight of stairs and into the first cave straight ahead. Get the bronze coin and talk to the Wickli Rainshield, a dwarf who wishes for you to deliver a message to his brother at Last Bridge. Take on the task and leave the cave. Follow the mountain collecting the Athelas along the way as you make your way up the next flight of stairs. Make sure to hit the switch that is in the corner that you pass to open the door below you take you can not access at this time. Head up the next flight of stairs right after you have climbed the previous than head northwest. Go down the flight of stairs you see that is next to the Athelas on the ground. Go into the cave and collect the sword and bronze coin than make your up to the final flight of stairs. Walk to the center of the mountain to set up camp for the night. Ringwraiths swarm the camp like bugs and Frodo is injured in the attack. Use the Athelas you have collected on Frodo if you do not want him to get killed by some attackers on the way. Go to the bottom of Weathertop and to the east that was once blocked of by Ringwraiths. Go into the cave and kill the spiders that guard a small dwarf chain mail, a fine sling, and an Elven dagger. Make your way out of the cave and to the east. ----------- Last Bridge ----------- Behind the biggest building to the east is a hazelnut and on the opposite side of the area hidden by trees is a bronze coin. There is a trader by the stone bridge who is selling a spider slicer, fine dagger, and a troll's curse. Go in the Inn north of the trader and to the right room though the door to meet a trader who is selling a sandwich, watercress, and a cabbage, buy the watercress. Through the next room you will meet Wickli's brother Bikli Rainshield. Deliver the message to him and he will give you some squib fireworks for your trouble. Level Up! Frodo has gained a level! Through the pain and suffering Frodo still moves on and even delivers a message for strangers. Enter the building to the west of the Inn and talk to the lady who will make you a cure for Frodo if you bring her some ingredients. If you followed above you will already have the hazelnut and the watercress. Frodo is now cured and she will give you a health potion. The building to the north holds yet another trader; he is selling boots, a small helmet, and a fine bow. Cross the bridge and collect the elfstone that waits on the other side. Let me just tell you now that Trolls are really strong and should be avoided at all costs. They will give you nothing in return from battling them expect a loss of health. So unless you want to grow a level from killing a certain Troll of getting a certain item avoid at all costs. There is watercress to the west by the river if you never got it for Frodo's healing potion. Their will be footprints on the ground leading to two different caves, one to the west and one to the northeast. The west holds small leather armor and should be avoided, while the cave to the northeast should be taken to get some good items. One Troll waits in the cave; he can be nasty so make sure to heal whoever the Troll hits as soon as possible. With Aragorn on your side the Troll shouldn't be too much problem. The cave holds hazelnuts, a blue, yellow, and a red mushroom, and a Troll's Cruse which should be equipped, it will do extra damage to Trolls. Exit the cave and to the south by lots of trees is a gold coin laying on the dirt path. Head east and into the next scene, if you follow the path and up the stairs you will come to a hazelnut and a small shield when you go back down the other flight of stairs and head west. Make your way north from the Trolls that are from the Hobbit and enter the cave. You will fight a Troll in here who was just like the last one you fought, but this time you have the Troll's cruse so it should be a breeze. Level Up! Aragorn has gained a level! Aragorn's work is never done, even in the deepest part of Trollshaws he has managed to protect the Hobbits from certain death. In this cave where Aragorn has just leveled up are an Elven dagger, a gold coin, and a fine dagger. Head up the stairs where you got the gold coin and exit through that door. Make your way east and than south to find a trader who is selling a squib, a sunstar, and a small shield, there is also a gold coin and some athelas near by. Make your way down the flight of stairs to the east when you are done to fight your final Troll that guards a gold coin and watercress before making your way to Rivendell. *Extra parts* This part holds some extra items you can collect here in Trollshaw, you may want them or you may not, is fighting a Troll wroth the item? In the first area after cross the bridge a cave to the west holds a small leather shield. The cave right to the east of this one holds a sunstar. In the next area after going down the flight of stairs to meet the frozen Trolls go east into the caves by the stairs you just came down for a bronze coin, a cabbage, a pair of boots, and a yellow mushroom. You may enter this cave from either going up the flight of stairs you just came down or a little bit more back near the start of the first flight of stairs. This cave holds a fine sling and a gold coin. Now was that really worth it? You come up with that for yourself. *End of extra parts* Going down the finally flight of stairs and head east to the final area before Rivendell. Make sure you collect the red mushroom, small helmet, and the gold coin by the river, mountain and far left trees before heading on the pathway where a scene will happen to take you to Rivendell. --------- Rivendell --------- Rivendell is full of glitches and bugs so be sure to save after you are sure you have completed your task one hundred percent of the way. Join Elrond and the others in the room to the northwest and speak with Elrond to have the meeting start. Here you meet your final companies that make nine members of the party: Gandalf, Gimli, Legolas, Aragorn, Boromir, Sam, Pippin, Merry, and Frodo. Go up the staircase to the northwest of Elrond and through the door to meet Bilbo. After a bit of a talk you are rewarded with your best armor and weapon in the game, the Mithril Coat and Sting, a very powerful weapon that Bilbo had acquired long ago on his adventures. Go back down the flight of stairs and talk with Elrond himself; he will make a potion for you in you bring him an empty phial on the staircase to scenes to the southeast of here. Leave Elrond and go southeast again and than southwest to meet Arwen. She will make it worth your while if you can earn it. Go to the northeast into a room with an Elf standing in the far corner, talk to him and he will sing you a tune. Note 1, 2, 3, 2, and 4, exit this room and head to the east to the next area with four flower pots on the ground. Play the tune, 1, 2, 3, 2, 4 and Lady Arwen's Amulet will appear on the floor, take this back to Arwen for your reward. Up the stairs by Arwen at the end of the path holds leather armor. Level Up! Frodo has gained a level! Just as Lady Arwen has promised, Frodo has earned the gift Arwen had set out for him. Go back into the room with the flower pots and talk with the Elf Glorfindell, if you picked up the elfstone that waited for you on the other side of the bridge you will have completed this task. Level Up! Pippin has gained a level! Pippin has sworn a promise with Frodo to help him destroy the One Ring, now he has even chosen to help those that are in need of his service. Go through the door east of Glorfindell and collect the normal shield that lies on the ground to the west of you. Talk to Gimli to the east near Rivendells exit, one of the Elfs has stolen Gimli's axe! Go into the room with Elrond and go into the northeast room and talk with the Elf in there. He will only give Gimli back his axe if you show him a blade that stings; in this case the Sting Bilbo gave you. You will now have Gimli's axe. Up the stairs in this room is a small helmet on the balcony. Return to Gimli and now you can leave Rivendell at any time. Doing it now would be best since we have gotten everything and all those glitches and bugs are making my head spin. -------------- Mines of Moria -------------- If you thought some of the other parts in this game where bad you haven't seen bad till you've met my friend Moria. She is one bad mine that will make you go into a corner and cry all day long. I'm going to cover how to get straight through Moria no side quest expect for the best weapon in the game, there is no point on covering everything in Moria because of how big and long it takes and the items and rooms I do not mention are not important enough to make it on here. Now that you have control of everyone be sure to make sure all their armor and weapons are equipped and that one of your other characters isn't holding out on the rest of them. Aragorn's sword Narsil that was once broken is now re-forged and is his best weapon so far, be sure to equip it. Moria is filled with runes that you must pick up along the way if you want to get through alive. The runes enable you to open certain doors whether it is to get through Moria or for some treasures is completely up to you. Moria is filled with combat and remember fighting gets you no where in this game so saved a lot and avoid combat at all costs. In the first hall there is Rune E and F along with a small helmet. Use Rune E to open up the gate in the northwest wall to obtain Rune N, squib fireworks, and an Orc biter. Go into the southeast door and onto the ledge to the right of you and go through the next door at the end. A group of Orcs await you but after the battle you will find Rune I and a squib firework on the ground. Go through the next door to find a gold coin, a health potion, a fine sword, and leather armor. Head back into the room with the ledges and collect the health potion that is near the other ledge we have not gone on yet. Now go on the ledge and as the path splits up take the south path and go through the door. Go up the stairs and collect the sword and Rune R, make your way down the stairs and to the opposite side to fight some Goblins to collect Rune E and a yellow mushroom. Right next to you is a doorway pass through it to get Rune I. Go back in the way you came and use Rune F to open the gate on the east side of the room than Rune R in the other room to open yet another gate. This room has two Trolls in it and some Orcs so be careful. Go up the stairs and use Rune I to open the gate. Pass through it and fight the Orcs, head up the stairs behind them. Be sure to collect everything you want because there is no turning back once you pass through that door. Collect the Rune R in the south corner of the room; open the door to the northwest of you with your Rune R. Go through the southwest room and follow this balcony till you get through the next door. Go down the stairs and go through the next door near the squib on the ground. In the next small hallway there will be three doors, one above and one under you. If you go into the room above you, you can collect a health potion, a helmet, and a sunstar, but there are four Orcs guarding these items so take caution. Back in the hallway were you choose whether or not to get the items in the next doors, make your way to the east door (bottom one). In this room there are three doors again make your way through the middle door by going down against the broken stones and than straight through the door in front of you. Step on the switch as you enter the room; be careful there are some spiders in here that guard a gold coin and a fine bow. Exit this room and head south were you will see a health potion and another room which you can now enter. This room holds Rune R and E, a bronze coin, and a spider slicer. Go back into the room with the switch and go through the door straight ahead, try to avoid the battle if possible. Hit the switch across the bridge to activate one locked gate in the beginning of Moria. Make your way west and use Rune I to open the locked door to earn yourself Elven leather armor, a Rune N, a squib, and a Fine Axe. Go back into the room with the switch and go through the middle door right next to the switch to start off in the beginning of this area. By the stairs there will be a door, enter it now. Ignore the switch on the floor for this bit of time and go into the next room with lots and lots of doors. Take either of the two bottom doors and hit the switch in this room, exit out and take either of the two top doors and hit this switch. Go back into the room where we ignored that switch and step on that. The now locked down up the couple steps of stairs is now unlocked above you. Climb the stone stairs and than climb the next flight of stairs in this new area. Follow this path and pick up the Rune D by four new switches. This can be called a puzzle but an easy one with this combination; middle right twice, middle left, right, and final left. The stone bridge opens for one of your final destinations in this area of Moria. Level Up! Merry has gained a level! Merry might not seem the brightest when he hangs around Pippin but don't let Merry fool you. Solving puzzle after puzzle has finally paid off. In the room to the west after crossing the bridge is fine small leather armor. Take the flight of stairs and enter the east door. Back in the starting area once again, take the middle door for your final room in this part of Moria. Orcs lay beyond this door so proceed with caution as you pick up some items and into the next part of Moria. This next part has two exits which you can take, one that will skip the Crypts of Moria and one that will take you to the Crypts of Moria. Now by this time I know how much you want to leave the Mines of Moria but trust me the crypts are really worth it and there are not that many enemies so I will be telling on how to get to the crypts. Make your way up the long flight of stairs, don't bother with the sling but pick up the Rune A at the top of the stairs. There are some goblins by this rune so stealth is important, after you have collected the rune go east and through that door. A Troll awaits you in this room, sneak around him and go into the next area. If you go through the north door it leads to some items and to the last part of Moria. Take the south door right after you climb down from the stairs and make your way through the northwest door where two rune symbols will be on the floor. If you use a Rune R and enter the door a chain mail awaits on the floor. Go through the door to the south of the room with the chain mail and pick up the three runes in this room, two Rune Fs and a Rune R. Go through the south door and into the southeast room. The exit is so close but yet so far away, two the south lays your exit to the crypt but it is locked and Goblins are nearby in the center of this room. Head into the north door and enter the room on the far right of the north wall. Pick up Rune I on the floor and go through the room to the north. Follow the hallway west and go through the door at the end. A Troll waits for you in this room, it is better to get it over with now than later. Make your way west around the outside of this area and up the stone stairs. Hit the switch at the top of the stairs as the locked gate to the crypt will open up. First before we make our way to the crypt go west in this area you will meet some Orcs and a Troll, kill them all for two Orc liquids, a sunstar, an Elf fountain, and fine sling. Level Up! Boromir has gained a level! Boromir has learned well from his training, killing Trolls has almost come second hand to Boromir. Backtrack your way into the final area and enter the Crypt of Moria. In this are be sure to save a Rune D for it is your only exit out of the crypts. There are enemies down here but it is worth it for all the items you will acquire for your party. I will not say how to get into each area since it is common sense but I will tell what waits behind each door and how to get Gimli's strongest weapon in the game. For Gimli's weapon follow the path all the way till you see some stairs, the far right hand door holds a Rune R, Rune O, a bronze coin, a helmet, and Orc liquid. Exit this room and enter the one to the left of it. Pick up the health potion, fine sling if you need one, a bronze coin, and Rune R. Enter the next room to see three rune symbols on the ground, if you have all the runes to place down, which you should you can enter through the next down to find Durin's Axe by the coffin, use it well. Be sure to pick up the bronze coin, the two gold coins, Rune R, and ignore the bow. The door to the left after you have first entered the crypts holds a small helmet, a health potion, and Rune F. The door right after the first one holds a health potion, Rune R, and a normal shield. The door to the right of the last door holds two red mushrooms, a normal shield, a bronze coin, and Rune F. The door to the right of the last door holds a Rune F, Rune I, Rune N, Rune D, a fine small chain mail, a health potion, an Orc biter, a gold coin, and an Elven dagger (Yes I know I spelled FIND with the runes). Down the flight of stairs in the main part of the crypts are a Rune F and R. Go through this door to enter the final part of Moria. Go up the stairs collecting the Rune I, the squib, and Orc liquid before going through the door to the east. Sneak past the Goblins if you do not wish to have to fight anyone at this time. Here lies a great Dwarf, Balin, Son of Fundin, Lord of Moria, let us all bow our heads and remember him. Alright go up the stairs and take the north door, follow this path but beware, many enemies have a bone to pick with you so if you haven't save your game. You will come in a huge room, go down the flight of stairs in the east and give all the items Gandalf holds to someone else. If you cross the bridge you will move on to Lothlorien, be sure that that is what you want to do. There aren't really any good items in this area of Moria so cross the stone bridge. Congratulations! You may not have beaten the game but from the looks of it you have overcome the Moria glitches and survived the long mazes of Moria, the brain twitching puzzles, and the hard battles! ---------- Lothlorien ---------- There is a stone in the middle of this area; if you read it you will notice it says something about Elves, Dwarves, and Men. Choose Legolas and follow the path around the stone, be sure to walk in a complete circle. Select Gimli now and do the same with him. Now choose between either of the two Men and do the same with them. You are now on your way to the Elven village of Lothlorien. Note: You can just go to the mirror and speak with Galadriel if you please than head east to continue onto the next part of the game, but you will miss out on some items and the best bow in the game. Head north and talk to the Elf who sings a tune for you: high, high, medium, low, high, remember it well. Collect the red mushroom before going to the next area. Go back south and collect the athelas on your way and than head east to find three stumps with an Elf guarding a ladder. Play the tune, high, high, medium, low, and high for the Elf to move out of your way. Go up the ladder and than down the next till your outside, move south two screens and than up the ladder to the next house. Go north into the next room to talk to Galadriel who gives you some healing potions. Make your way two rooms south and talk with an Elf who needs your helping defeating some spiders. Go back into the room where Galadriel is, be sure to pick up the bronze coin on your way their if you haven't on your way to the Elf who just gave you the spider task. Go west and collect the lembas bread before heading down the ladder to battle the spiders. Defeat the spiders than go collect your reward from the Elf, an Orc biter. Make your way though the south door, southeast door, and than the southwest one till you see another Elf, Celeborn. This task you do not have to complete right away but you can if you wish, you must find a creature roaming in the woods. It is much easier to complete if you just forget about it for now and continue moving on. Go into the previous room and exit through the door to the southeast. There is a mallorn seed in the south of this area, make your way to the northeast exit. Galadriel will be by a mirror in the middle of this area, speak to her. Grab the silk cocoon to the east of her and make your way back into Lothlorien from the previous area. Once up the ladder go into the northwest room and go down the ladder to the southwest. If you haven't gotten the three items in this area do so, they are; a silk cocoon and two red mushrooms. Go through the west area and talk to the Elf by the trees by the path that will make you Elven cloaks for silk cocoons. If you continue west you will cross another Elf who will sing to you a tune for one gold coin, low, high, medium, high, and low. Follow the path north into the new area, talk to the Elf on the path were it splits. If you have a mallorn seed, which you should he will give you an Elven cloak and lembas bread. If you don't have a mallorn seed it is by the mirror that Galadriel was standing by. Go west from the path and play the tune on the stumps, low, high, medium, high, and low. The Elf that was once guarding the ladder up the tree has now moved letting you travel anywhere now. Climb up the ladder and down the one to the left of the one you just climbed. Go into the next area to the west and than head north, you will come across Gollum a creature that once had the One Ring that corrupted him and turned him into that. If you return to Celeborn and talk to him he will give you the Bow of Galadriel, it is the best bow in the game but pretty much unless now since we are basically at the end of the game. Now that we have done everything in Lothlorien it is time to make our way to the beach were you will get some going away presents. From the mirror head east to find your boats, talk to the Elf and Galadriel will give you a Phial of Galadriel and Sam's Box of Earth. Collect them and than move onto the next part of the game and the last. --------------- Falls of Rauros --------------- As your boats hit the shore Orcs come from all directions to stop you. Lucky for you, you can sneak around from the south hugging the trees if you want to avoid battle. You do not need to fight any battles here unless you are forced to, remember they give you nothing in return for a victory. From this point on give everything good to Frodo, make sure he has all the best armor and weapons he can use and be sure to give him all your healing potions that will heal him all the way in one use. If you have a Rune I be sure to give it to Frodo now to save you trouble later. As you go down the path the Fellowship will split and Frodo will be off alone to climb Amon Hen. From here on out I will not be mentioning how to get any items but the Rune I, all the items are healing potions, one dagger, and a squib. Fighting alone with Frodo is extremely hard since he misses just about every attack so if you do choose to explore be sure to sneak past the Wargs. Follow the path into the next area to the southeast and than go into the first cave you see on the way up the mountain. It should resemble Moria so if it doesn't your not in Amon Hen. Go into the next area and through the door to the southeast, in this area on the floor to the south is Rune I a Goblin guards it. Go back one screen and climb up the stairs to use Rune I on the symbol on the floor. Go into the next room, climb the flight of stairs and into the next area for the final flight of stairs. Your final fight awaits you at the top, one lone Goblin; this battle can last some time from many misses to few hits. Use your healing potions a lot and with some luck and a lot of spare time this battle will be won. Congratulations! You have just beaten the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring! ====== Extras EXTRA ====== Cheats ------ Duplicating Items Greenhill Country- In the house north of the meeting place where you play the music tune on the tree stumps enter the house to find a gold coin. In some versions of the game if you pick up the gold coin, leave the house, and then enter it again another gold coin will be there were you can get as many gold coins as you can handle. Any switch that you must weigh down- When you must sacrifice an item to weigh down a switch to cross either a lake or bridge put down the item you want two of, save your game than load it back up. -------- Glitches -------- Green Hill Country Problem: While giving pipeweed man will not let you pass. Solution: Load up the game again and go for it for the second or third time. If you still can't get Bilbo to drop his mithril armor for you, you will most lucky have to restart the game. Moria Problems: When Gandalf tells you to go into the mines the game freezes. Solution: First save your game, as you enter through the door and the screen starts to fade away push start and save your game. If you have done this correctly you will be on the other side when you load up your game again. Problem: The game just freezes when entering different areas of Moria. Solution: Save often and do the trick above. --------- Level Ups --------- Frodo Hobbiton Beating the scarecrow in Bandy Harfoot's Farm Frodo's on his first steps of a big adventure, his fighting skills will come in handy. Answer: I would have to say five to ten hours. Question: Why does the game keep messing up? Answer: This game a lot of glitches in it so you want to save after every area and battle. Most of the glitches happen in Moria and Rivendell; some have also happened in random times when picking up items and talking to people. Question: How does fighting work? Answer: It is turn-based. Question: Why are you not replying back to my e-mail? Answer: I have either had so many of these questions asked that they bore me, it is either up on my walkthrough, or I might not have gotten it. Question: I heard a lot about glitches, how many are there? Answer: The glitches are everywhere. Most occur while in Moria and Rivendell, there are also other glitches that are minor and can be overcome by saving the reopening the game. Question: What is there to do after I beat the game? Answer: Nothing, or play from where you last saved from. Question: I thought there were more glitches to get money and items, is there? Answer: Yes but those are the only two in the Extras section that you need to know to be able to be rich and have all the items you want duplicated. Question: In the level ups area you don't tell how to level up. Answer: Yes for a very simple reason, it is in the walkthrough. The only reason I have put it in its own area is to inform you when they level up, where, and for doing what. They are in the order in which you level up to, if you want to know how to level them up just scroll up to the said area in my walkthrough. Question: I have read where it says to level up but it doesn't say how. Answer: Yes it does, look up one paragraph and that basically says either you will run into an enemy, solve a puzzle, or deliver a message. That is all it says but when there is a level up area under it that is your hint that your character will level up there. Question: Why so few monsters in the game, and why should I fight the ones I come across if I don't level up? Answer: That's the way it was made, when you think about it though, any more enemies in the game and you would be pulling out your hair from your characters dieing all the time and not having enough health potions.
