During battle, you need to play the Black Illusion Ritual Spell Card (card code 41426869) from your hand and sacrifice any monster from play or your hand (since Relinquished is only a one-star monster). If you use it's ability you can "equip" an opponent's monster - it goes to your spell/trap card zone and and it's attack and defense points become Relinquished's.

For example, if you absorb a Blue Eyes White Dragon on the opponent's side of the field, Relinquished's att/def becomes 3000/2500. However, this only applies when the opposing monster is face-up on the field - absorbing a face down monster gives Relinquished 0/0 att/def so it's not worth it! Also, you can only equip one monster at a time, so take care which monster you choose to absorb.

If Relinquished is attacked by a monster that has higher attack points, instead of Relinquished being destroyed, the equipped monster is destroyed instead, and Relinquished loses it's att/def. Therefore it is pretty much indestructible in battle as long as you use it right, since it can absorb a monster after it's equipped monster gets destroyed. Bear in mind spell/trap cards such as Dark Hole still work against it. Happy gaming!

What happens when a "relinquished" doesn't have an equipped monster and is attacked?
