Sorry to burst your bubble, But no you cannot unlock or use a cheat to get any other character exept for the ones they give you from the start of the game.

Yes, you can unlock characters from the game if you do certain things in the game. Like unlockinging Gimli you need to beat the game with 2 characters, but to play him you have to be on muli-player.
