You can duplicate an item!
I try it already!
1.put two Pokemon in the daycare
2.let 1 of your Pokemon hold an rare candy or any items bla, bla ,bla !
3.wait for a few minutes.. Then you get an egg
4.after it hatches you can see your new baby Pokemon holding same item as the mother/father Pokemon holding it..
See? It's so easy
You can actually duplicate/clone Pokemon even the item held by the Pokemon they call it glitch.. Though in this method there's a possibility that it can corrupt your game
