It doesn't take much to beat lance.
the best pokemon to use is dewgong. No I've not gone mad, it's true!! seriously.
train him to about lv55 teach him the following attacks
Ice beam
Surf
Headbutt
Waterfall
HOLD nevermeltice/mysticwater
use ice beam on aerodactl, and 3 dragonites
use surf and waterfall on Charizard
keep headbutting gyarados
