Formula One 2003 ReviewAdded 20 Jul 2004, ID #10114
Formula One 2003 is the latest instalment in the series of Formula One games. This features all the new cars, drivers and circuits. It also offers a variety of different game modes.

All the new drivers are featured here, with very realistic faces making them instantly recognisable to the true Formula One fan. This also pairs them with the right teams.

The cars are also updated, as well as the driver uniforms. The colours and sponsors are all featured, except the tobacco sponsors who's names have been slightly changed on the game. The cars are excellently realistic with a number of views including cockpit, on-board camera and on the front wing.

The circuits are also changed to suit the modifications made in places like Hockenheim and Hungaroring. The challenging corners like Loews Hairpin at Monaco and Parabolica at Monza are fabulously recreated and are also true challenges in the game.

The race mode is also great. You have about 8 different camera views as well as a cool replay option enabling to see the last 30 seconds of you on the track in TV style cameras. You can also see others racing in the replays, and in the new qualifying mode, which are complying within the new rules.

The Time Trial mode sets you against other times and, should you beat them, you get a trophy in the trophy cabinet for each race. You also do if you win the World Championship.

Another nice little feature is the podium scene at the end should you finish in the top three. This includes the trophy presentations and the champagne spraying ceremony.

The Arcade mode is also could for the laid back driver. It is easier and faster, but more unrealistic.

The sounds are also very good. The commentary is good, the mechanic sounds are more so, and the crowd and engine noises are superbly made and timed for the right moment.

Overall, a great game to buy.
