Final Fantasy XII is yet another Final Fantasy game. The main character is Vaan, a young teen living in the city of Rabanastre. The game takes place in the world of Ivalice, which for Final Fanatasy gamers may sound familiar, as that is the world of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. The two Ivalice's, however, are much different. There are two major empires: the Archadian Empire and the Rozarrian Empire. Which one is good or bad is yet to be seen. The small kingdom of Dalmasca is caught in the middle of the quarrel of the two empires. Vaan one day sneaks into the palace, where he chances upon an item of great importance. He also meets two others, Balthier and Fran. The whole journey is yet another quest to save the world. How you do that is revealed later in the game. Other than the fact that Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance both feature Ivalice, there are other similarities. Bangaa, Viera, Nu Mou, and of course moogles, are featured in both games. Also, there is a clan hall in Final Fantasy XII, run by a certain moogle named Montblanc, also in FFTA. As gamers can see, the game is very closely related.
Final Fantasy graphics have to be some of the best graphics in all games. Final Fantasy XII continues this legacy. No longer are there battle graphics and field graphics: they are one and the same. The cutscenes of Final Fantasy XII can just be absolutely stunning. In fact, the whole entire world of Ivalice is a wonder itself. All scenery looks very realistic. With the addition of weather changes, it makes the game seem even more realistic. Even enemies look real. The graphics of Final Fantasy XII are something to be amazed by.
Music in videogames can be very enticing. The Final Fantasy series has a reputation for making games with this quality. Final Fantasy XII is a great example of this. All the background music in each area is absolutely wondorous. You will get each song stuck in your head, especiall while training in an area. Not to mention that a change in background music means that you are in a different area. Voice-overs are also well-developed. Even magic sound effects have that realistic sense, where the spell Fire actually sounds like a real fire. The intro music to Final Fantasy XII should strike a chord with Final Fantasy Fans, as it is the same music featured in the majority of the Final Fantasys. The sound in this game is truly something.
Final Fantasy XII is keeping true to the time-based battle system. However, it can seem a little weird to some gamers who are used to old Final Fantasys. No longer do enemies pop out of nowhere and begin a battle. You can actually see the enemies on the field. There is no tranistion from field to battle either, for battling is very strategic. You can physically move your character while battling, for strategic positions. Fleeing from battle is entirely manual, as you will have to actually move your character away until the enemy leaves. You can also change commands on the go. The overall story of the game is very good as well. Final Fantasy XII's gameplay is a remarkable thing.
Final Fantasy XII is one of those games that will show big numbers on your play time when you finally beat it. This game lasts well over seventy hours of gameplay. This is because it is very hard to speed through. Bosses get tough fast, and sicne you have six characters, you want to train them evenly, for if your main three die, the other three instantly take over. Therefore, it is very hard to beat the game with just three strong characters. The world of Ivalice is massive, with mulitple regions, and each region is big as well. This game could take awhile to beat.
This game gets a nine out of ten. The whole entire package of Final Fantasy XII is simply amazing. That's the only way to put the game in words. The game is very challenging, for there are multiple bosses that require a certain strategy to beat. Even the best gamer will have to take their time on this game. Final Fantasy XII is without a doubt, a great game.
