Final Fantasy 12 was a great game. The story is based around war and betrayal and any Final Fantasy Fan will love it. The story starts with a past story of a young man name Reks. Reks has just joined the insurgents and is helping Captain Basch maneuver through the castle of the Dalmascan king. So I don't ruin the story I'll stop there.
Graphics didn't change much from Final Fantasy 10 or 11. I admit they look somewhat better but practically the same. The people and monsters look usual but once you get out exploring and seeing the beautiful sceneries it's easy to tell how much work was put into this game.
Sounds were average for a Final Fantasy game. It's pretty much same old same old with every place having it's own sound and they aren't much different from any you've heard previouly. But even if the sound hasn't changed much it's not the end of the world.
The gameplay was different from any Final Fantasy I've ever played. First the combat was changed greatly. Second the new summons were flat out terrible in my opinion. You don't gain your first summon till about mid way through the game so you don't get much use out of them. Also they aren't very reliable. Their attacks were the same every time and they die very fast. Third, on my list to review are quickenings. They were a blast to use and make you want to reach for higher and higher goals as far as chains go. The problem is that these chains made bosses much too easy to fight and what Final Fantasy fan wants an easy game like that. Fourth thing is the new Magic, Techniques, and Items. I loved the new magic such as Arcane, Green, and Time. Techniques were quite handy in many situations. But as we reach new items, theres nothin great about them. Fifth subject is the License Board. It was much like the Sphere Grid from FF10. Now the Airship. You may think it's great but you get to free drive it like twice at the end of the game. That pretty much covers game play.
The game isn't what I would call lastable seeing as it took me 16 hours to beat it. But once you get playing you really get into it and don't want to put the controller down. Even if you beat the game and still want more, the game offers many different hunts to take on in many different regions.
Overall this game was great and well thought out but it didn't off too much new gameplay. Even if it doesn't seem great at first keep playing because it gets so much better as you progress through the mixed story. I think the hard wrking people that made this game deserve a round of applauze.
