  • Learn the Circuits

If you haven't raced on the different circuits of F-Zero 99 it is recommended that you spend time in Practice mode and find out everything you need to know about them so when you do race on them against other online players you are familiar with them.

  • Get a Boost Start

It is crucial that you get a quick start in F-Zero 99 in order to get ahead of the pack. The way to do it is to press the 'B' button on your Nintendo Switch controller to accelerate just before 'Go' appears at the start of the race.

  • Recharge your Power Meter

It is essential that you keep track of your Power Meter in F-Zero 99. If you notice that it is getting low you need to consider slowing down in the Pit Area. Keep in mind it is better to be safe and slow down on the recharge strip and get more juice for the next lap than be sorry.

  • Collect Super Sparks

A good strategy is to slow down and hang behind the leaders so you can collect more Super Sparks, these are the yellow orbs that drop when machines collide and are used to fill your Super Boost meter and ascending (temporarily) to the Skyway track above the main circuit. Also, slowing down will make cornering a lot easier around the circuit.

  • Get More Super Sparks

Keep an eye out for the big golden car that appears periodically on the circuit and bump into it to earn a bunch of Super Sparks that will fill your Super Boost Meter quicker.

  • Tap the Accelerator on Bends

Instead of using the 'Y' button on your Nintendo Switch controller when you slow down to take a corner, you should instead tap the accelerator. Doing this and also releasing the 'B' button entirely when you corner will give you better traction on the bends.

  • Use the Speed Boost on Straights

Unless you are an experienced driver who knows your way around the circuits of F-Zero 99 it is recommended if you are just starting out that you press 'A' on your Nintendo Switch controller to deploy a regular Speed Boost only on the straights. Doing this will help you avoid wasting your boost by ricocheting off the barriers.

  • Unlock Cosmetics

Play the machine you want to unlock more cosmetics for. Doing so will allow you to complete a variety of challenges on that machine and then unlock more cosmetics.
