Enchanted Arms is probably one of the best RPG's ever made, the battle system is fantastic and means that you really do have to plan every attack as brute strength will not win every battle for you like of other RPG's. Also unlike some other recent RPG's random encounters are back for those of you who love them as much as me.
The graphics are good the monsters (or Golems as they are called) are well designed and look great as are the main characters. The towns and cities are well designed as is each area you travel through. The game is very colourful and each area has had a load of time and effort put into it which is obvious from the moment you start playing.
The voice acting is good and the soundtrack is pretty cool and fits well in each area. Each character has a lot to say in the many cutscenes and they have some great one liners in there too. The soundtrack is mainly classical sounding with one or two heavier tunes at certain points in the game.
The gameplay is fantastic in every way, the battle system is great. Each battle is fought on a grid with two sides, it is loosely similar to chess but much more fun. You have one side of the grid and your enemies have another, each of your attacks will effect a set amount of squares on the grid so the placement of each character is very important. You can control upto 4 characters at a time, you have 4 main characters and over a hundred Golems that you can acquire and use in battles. Some golems need to be bought others can be found and defeated to obtain their core material which you can then use to create the golem. Golems level up just like your main characters however they do not have special attacks and cannot equip new weapons, still certain golems are way more powerful than certain main characters. There is also a casino in one city where you can participate in golem battles to earn chips or play games such as Roulette and Slot's, the casino also offers a shop where you can buy unique golems and skills that cannot be obtained anywhere else in the game.
This game can take literally months to complete if you want to explore every area and collect every Golem. The main story line is pretty in depth in it's own right and there are tons of side quests and a few very large optional areas to visit. With over a hundred golems to collect, getting them all is a massive and very rewarding quest on it's own. Also with so many different golems to use the game has huge replay value as you could complete it again and again with thousands of different party combinations.
An awesome game well worth buying. If you enjoy RPG or strategic games then this game is for you. Hours upon hours of fun with a fantastic story line complemented by interesting characters and hilarious cutscenes. A lot of fun and very challenging.
