Upgrading heroes

The game has done a good job in explaining how to upgrade your heroes but we will go into a little bit more detail. Throughout you journey, you will acquire purple potions known as Exp potions. These potions are used to level up other heroes that may have been newly acquired and are not up to par with your main team. You won't have a lot of these at the start but they eventually stack up giving you more to use.

To use them, select the hero you wish to use them on and you will usually land on the hero's profile tab. There is a purple potion button on the lower right of the page. Pressing that will display the current exp potions you have in stock. Tapping on a potion uses it on the hero.

Another thing you can do in the profile page is increase your hero's star rank provided you have the required amount of hero tokens to move your hero up a star rank. The yellow bar shows how many more tokens you need.

The yellow button with a question mark (?) will show you available stages in the campaign that you can collect hero tokens to upgrade your hero with. If your hero is only obtainable through special means, like Bovus for example, who can only be obtained from the portals and few of the quests, no stages will show in that section.

The stat page is pretty basic in that it lists the Stats and traits of a hero. You can view a brief description of the stats and traits by press-holding the items you wish to know about.

The abilities page is where all the hero's active abilities are listed. Here you can spend gold to upgrade them. You cannot upgrade an ability past the hero's maximum level. An important thing to remember is that the gold cost to upgrade the abilities increases exponentially. You may suddenly find yourself broke if you go on an upgrade spree. Ascending your hero gives it new abilities which means even greater cost to maintain your team at a high level.

The final tab is the Ascension tab. Ascension gives the heroes new abilities be they passive, active, or both. Ascending also gives a fair boost to Stats but not as large as gaining a star rank. The main benefit of ascension is the abilities they give since most of the ascension abilities are game-changers. Along with these boosts your hero gets, the hero also gets a nice cosmetic change to show that it has grown.

The ascension page shows what evos are needed for the next ascension. Selecting one of the Evos displayed here will take you to a menu that shows on which maps the Evos can be obtained from, which are ranked from easiest to hardest. Usually the harder the stage, the higher the chance of an Evo appearing. Not to mention they have chances of the even higher ranked Evos to show up.
