Take a look at our Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Cheats and Tips to get help in this role-playing adventure game that follows the journey of Parso, a half-human, half-monster prince as he seeks to lift the curse placed upon him by his father, Randolfo the Tyrant, the cruel monster king and ruler of Nadiria. The game is exclusively available on Nintendo Switch.
In battles with multiple enemies focus on defeating monsters individually over dealing damage to all your foes simultaneously. Fewer enemies will mean you take less overall damage and shorter fights will result in a higher success rate.
Remember, for each enemy that survives, they are going to get a chance to retaliate. Your party will receive less overall damage when enemies drop out of the fight, and your odds of victory will increase.
The best strategies are to either hit multiple enemies at once when the attack can lower other enemies' health enough for your other monsters to finish off, or if the attack can pick off a monster whose health is already low while also dealing damage to the rest of your enemies.
If you have a party of decent monsters you may want to consider ignoring the game telling you that it's not trying to scout monsters until you beat the 'big hitter' of an area. Although your chances of recruiting the monster will be a low 15-20 percent for each new area you will still get some workable chances.
Keep in mind that this percentage does not include using meat to tempt a monster to your side. Doing this will considerably increase your chances of recruiting the monster at the end of a battle even if scouting fails.
It's worthwhile trying to scout these monsters before the big hitter goes down because if you manage to recruit them you will have access to new Talents and monsters that don't need to be leveled up. You will also get potentially powerful synthesis options.
Avoid the temptation of going scouting, gathering a lot of monsters, and then synthesising them all into a new more powerful monster with plenty of skills. It is more beneficial to hang onto a few unsynthesised monsters.
If you keep a few unsynthesised monsters you will have some powerful monsters you can use to take on the strongest monsters you can fight. These will typically be in the most recent area you have unlocked.
Monsters that are not in your party will still gain some of the experience earned in battle which will allow you to level them a lot quicker and enable them to take on stronger fights.
Lowering the health of the monster you are targeting before you try to scout it is a good way to improve your scouting success rate. Although doing this will not make a huge difference and you run the risk of killing the monster before you can attempt to recruit it, it is worth trying for those more difficult enemies.
You must start upgrading your Talents as soon as you can as upgraded Talents provide powerful moves that can easily get you through the first third to the first half of the game. Sizz Afficionado, Crag Afficionado, and Attack Booster are three outstanding Talents to upgrade in Dragon Quest: The Dark Prince.
In your party there are four monsters in your Main Team, and four monsters in your Reserves. Make sure whenever you encounter a monster you know one of your Main Team is weak against you immediately swap it out for a Reserve monster.
Each of the monsters you can recruit in Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince has things it is strong and weak against, this gives you plenty of strategic options and things to take into consideration when recruiting monsters.
Status effects in Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince should not be neglected as they can provide a significant difference. The game will even tell you what your relative chances of success are when you use them.
This will be in the form of a word appearing under the enemy's portrait at the top of the screen, denoting whether or not the enemy is weak, strong, or immune to the status (or element) you are trying to use.
