• Get to high ground during a tsunami or flash flood

When you get a tsunami or flash flood, move to higher ground as quickly as you can. Don't wait until the water is already reaching you. Staying on low ground can leave you with nowhere to go when the water rises.

Start moving as soon as you know it's a water disaster. Getting to high ground early is much easier than trying to escape at the last second.

• Use the Grapple Hook to escape danger

The Grapple Hook is one of the items available in the Trading Post. It can help you reach places that would take longer to get to on foot.

Use it when you need to quickly get to a safer spot or escape an area that is becoming dangerous.

Aim for somewhere you actually want to land before using the Grapple Hook. Don't waste it by firing it around randomly.

• Don't assume every building is safe

Running into the nearest building isn't always the best move. Fire, lava and other disasters can make your position dangerous even if you are inside.

Before settling in, look at what the disaster is doing and make sure you have somewhere to move if your position becomes unsafe.

Don't trap yourself in a corner. Keep a way out in case the disaster reaches your shelter.

The Trading Post has useful survival items such as Grapple Hooks, Campfires and Food. Don't waste them when you don't need them.

Think about what the current disaster is doing and use the item when it can actually help you survive.

Keep your useful items for moments when you're in trouble. Using them too early can leave you without them when you really need them.

• Pick your own safe spot instead of blindly following players

Disaster Island Survival has several different disasters, including tsunamis, flash floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, fire and lava. That means the safest place can change from one round to the next.

If everyone runs in the same direction, don't just follow them. Look at the disaster and decide where you are safest. A crowded area isn't automatically a safe area.

Don't copy the crowd. Look at the disaster, find a safe spot and move there before you're surrounded by danger.
