Do Raids to Progress to a Higher Level

It is inevitable that at some point during Contra Returns, you will find yourself unable to progress to the next level and continue with the Story mode. When this happens, you need to carry out raids on previously completed stages where you achieved 3 stars and completed all the objectives. Raids take up stamina, so you may find yourself losing a lot of it while doing multiple raids trying to get the requirement to reach the next level in Story mode. This is why it is important to ensure all 3 objectives are met when you progress through Story modes, as you will need raids to advance when you get stuck.

Check the Recommended Firepower Before Starting Each Level

Make sure before you begin a level in Contra Returns you check it's recommended firepower. The game specifies a recommended firepower for each level, and by seeing what this is will allow you to determine how difficult the mission will be to complete. If your firepower is below the recommendation, you should first upgrade your weapons in order to raise your firepower, so it is above the firepower for the level. If you attempt the level with low firepower, you may struggle with some objectives and not achieve the 3 stars, which will mean you will not be able to get the bonus for finishing a level on your first try.

Check the Objectives in Story Mode Levels

In Contra Returns there are 3 objectives for each level in the Story stages, and it is important before you begin the level you fully understand what they are as you will need to complete them as well as defeat the alien forces and alien boss in order to achieve 3 stars and the extra rewards that come with it. Having levels with 3 stars becomes very useful later on in the game, so always aim to get them.

How to Unlock Modes and Challenges

Contra Returns has several modes and challenges which can be unlocked by reaching a certain level in Story mode. These features are listed below, along with the level requirement to unlock them.

How to Unlock the Super Weapon

Once you reach stage 2-6 of Story mode, you will have access to the Super Weapon, which is a powerful weapon. The Super Weapon is capable of dealing considerably more damage against the aliens compared to your main weapon or sub-weapon. You can only have one Super Weapon, and it can only be used once in a match, so it is essential that you use it at the right time, which will either be when you are in a lot of trouble, or when you are facing the Alien boss of the stage near the end.

Claim your Rewards and Free Gifts

Contra Returns will not inform you if you have any rewards or free gifts that you can claim, so it is important that you regularly check the Event Center and Mission tab yourself to make sure you have collected all your rewards. At the Mission tab, you will also be able to check to see what daily tasks can be done to get rewards. Don't forget that there is a daily free supply box at the Event Center you can claim which will enable you to get free x50 Stamina. The free supply box can be claimed 4 times a day from 07:00-18:00 and 18:00-00:00. Be sure to check every feature in Contra Returns that has a button with a red dot on the button's top right corner, as this indicates you have unclaimed rewards and free loot waiting to be claimed.

How to Unlock Guns

There are several ways that you can add additional guns to your arsenal in Contra Returns. The main way is playing the game, participating in in-game events such as Story Missions, Boss Challenges, and Ranked Matches, so you earn weapon fragments and the weapons themselves as rewards. Weapons can be unlocked at the relevant shop using Arena coins, Legion coins, and Firearm coins, which are all currencies that can be earned in the game. It is also possible to buy guns at the Item Shop using weapon fragments with diamonds or as part of Special Packs. A great way to get rare or extremely rare weapons free is to win them from the limited-time events.

Upgrading Weapons Tips

When you begin playing Contra Returns, you will be given lower-grade weapons to get you started. These B, C, and D tier weapons will not be much good in their current state, and you should look to get rid of them as soon as you get your hands on better weapons. On the second day that you play the game, you will be given a free S-tier weapon, and it is recommended that you upgrade it whenever possible. If you do not like the S-tier weapon for whatever reason, you can always choose one of the B-tier weapons you have that you feel comfortable with and upgrade that instead until you get your hands on an S or SS-tier weapon you like. Regardless of what you decide to do, you should always choose your strongest weapon as your main weapon and the second-strongest weapon as the sub-weapon.

How to Level Up Fast

In order to level up in Contra Returns you need to earn experience points (XP) and there are several ways that this can be achieved, these include playing the Story Missions, Boss Challenges, Daily Missions, and events. The option which will enable you to level up the quickest is playing the Story Missions. There are certain Story Missions which although more difficult to complete will enable you to earn a substantial amount of XP for doing so. Remember that the amount of time you spend playing Contra Returns will relate to your level, this basically means the more time you spend playing, the higher your level will be.
