Chocobo GP Cheats, Tips Strategy

Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include choosing the best beginner character and why you should prioritize completing the story.

Activating Character Ability

Chocobo GP will teach you to press the Y button on your controller to activate the ability of your character as you race around the track. This is not the most convenient button to tap when you are focussed on trying to win a race. There is however an alternate button you can tap which is a lot easier to access and that is the ZL button which is also an ability button by default.

Play the Story

Make playing through the story your first priority as doing this will unlock the majority of the game's content, including stages, extra modes, and racers. Although the story is not complicated it can be tricky in places, it is made up of 9 chapters which consists of one or two episodes each which basically means a couple of races per chapter. There are though some features such as the character Squall Lionheart and the Final Fantasy protoganist Cloud Strife that are still hidden behind the gacha mechanics.

Memorize Courses

It is inevitable that you will lose races in Story mode, the important thing is to try and memorize courses. If you are able to recall where speed strips are or where obstacles fall you will have a big advantage when you race on that track again.

Pay Attention to Winning Conditions

Before you begin a match make sure you are aware of the winning conditions as not all the races require you to come in first place. Winning conditions can range from beating a single character to placing in the top four ranks. If the requirement is to just beat one character be sure to focus your attacks on them.

Dodge Opponents Attacks

Pay attention to the red exclamation points that appear during a race as this indicates an opponent is about to attack you with a powerup, if you see a yellow icon it means they are using their character-specific ability to attack you. If you tap the X button on your controller you will be able to look behind and dodge these attacks.

Best Beginner Character

If you are a new player it is recommended that you play story mode with the character Chocobo. This bird has maneuverability that cannot be matched and a character special that gives you a good speed boost.

Collect Magic Eggs Strategically

The Magic Eggs you collect in Chocobo GP as you race around the track give you much-needed Magicite power-ups or Crystals. There are three types of Magic Eggs - copper, silver, and gold, and it is important for strategic racing that you are aware what egg offers, remember also that Magic Eggs are not colored by rarity.

- Copper Eggs

Obtain a Magicite or Crystal at random.

- Silver Eggs

Obtain the same type of Magicite that you already possess.

- Gold Eggs

Obtain two of the same type of Magicite or Crystal.

Magicite Stacks

Keep in mind that Magicite and Crystals in Chocobo GP can stack to create more powerful effects. You can hold up to three Magicite at a time and doing so will improve the effectiveness of the power-up. If for example you had Fire Magicite and then got a second it will become Fira, getting a third will evolve it into Firaga. If you look at the Magicite display at the top left of the screen it will reflect the change. Ideally, you want to get a gold egg to grab two of a kind, then a silver egg next to get the best version of whichever Magicite you have grabbed.

Collect Crystals

Crystals in Chocobo GP can either be gained from Magic Eggs or by grabbing them from the various tracks as you race around them. Collecting Crystals will help to increase your Ability Guage, having a stack of 10 Crystals in your possession will give you a substantial speed boost. Collecting Crystals will also help to fill your Crystal Gauge which when full will give you a ticker to use in the Ticket Shop. Keep in mind when collecting crystals that if you get hit by an attack you will lose what you have collected and will to start collecting them all over again.
