I don't know much about the Call of Duty series, but I must say I am impressed with The seventh in the series, Call of Duty: Black Ops. I am most definitely going to to buy the other games (or rent) when I get the chance. It would be awesome I I could buy a combo pack...but we all know that isn't around yet.
The graphics are great on this game. They truly are. Very realistic looking with very little billboard like things. (Flat pictures showing a textured surface) Even the characters are very detailed in there multiple outfits. But it can be a bit unrealistic in you have the graphic content reduced. (aka, no blood or gore)
The sound is is fairly good, but there can be times when it's a little difficult to understand what the charters are saying to other or you. But even so, you can easily get over it. Even though the sound can be a little pain, it doesn't affect the overall game play.
The storyline on this game is great. Multiple environments, awesome plot, and the opportunities in the story are great. While there are no path choosers (choose path A, get a different ending for path B), there is still plenty of chances to explore.
I am sad to say this game doesn't last very long, even with Xbox Live. Once you seen it through, it ain't worth playing again. It isn't even worth the effort of going back to find Intel. And Multiplayer gets a little boring after a while. While the story is great, it sure don't last long.
Even though the game doesn't last long in my eyes, it may in yours. But if you do feel the same way, I can tell you that the graphics, sound, and game play make up for the loss of lastability. This game is most definitely worth your money and I recommend getting it even if you haven't played any other Call of Duty games.
