Take Advantage of your Dodge Ability

Knowing how to dodge is one of the best ways to stay alive in Blightbound. You can make your hero perform a dodge by pressing the left 'Shift' on your keyboard. The dodge mechanic is great for escaping dangerous enemies, AoEs, and repositioning yourself. Every character has a dodge and without doubt the one with the best version is the mage who is able to teleport through hazzards instantly. If you are playing as the assassin class, look to take advantage of the dodge to get behind an enemy to perform a Backstab and earn the bonus damage you get for performing the move. Keep in mind that dodging will make your hero invincible for a very short moment, which can be enough time to survive hazards like lasers

How to Solve Puzzles

As you progress through the dungeons of Blightbound you will encounter puzzles that block your path and prevent your party from advancing until they are solved. These puzzles are typically easy to solve and can be as simple as shooting glowing crystals to open a gate or stepping on three floor plates. Whatever it is that needs to be done to solve the puzzle will be nearby it, you will not have to go searching the dungeon for anything. If you do get stuck at a puzzle, try hitting every crystal at once.

Avoid AoE Damage

Red auras are the solid or hollow red circles that you see on the ground in Blightbound that indicate where incoming damage is going to take place. It is crucial that you stay outside these circles, otherwise you will take AoE (Area of Effect) damage from the incoming attack. Whenever you find yourself in a red aura, use your dodge to quickly get out of it before it is too late.

How to Choose your Character Class and Hero

In order to be able to choose your character class and hero in Blightbound your Refuge must be Level 9. The Refuge is your hub, where you can manage your characters and items, and prepare them for their next journey into Blightbound's perilous dungeons. Once you reach Refuge Level 9 you will be able to select the character you want to play by clicking their profile icon on the left side of the screen and pressing 'Ready' or 'Play' in the top right corner. However, by choosing your character class and hero, you will miss out on some bonus rewards and an extra 2 stat points added to your stats temporarily for the dungeon. The game does this to promote randoming and reduce matchmaking queues.

How to Choose your Character

Work as a Team

It is essential that your party work as a team in Blightbound as each of the three character classes has unique abilities the team can take advantage of. Mages for example have the ability to shield themselves to become invincible and then revive others in danger, while some warrior characters can taunt nearby enemies to keep the danger away from their teammates. If you are playing on PC, you can ping locations to your teammates by pressing your mouse middle click button, and you can open the text chat by pressing T on your keyboard. If you press the left Alt key on your keyboard, you will reveal a radial menu which can be used for quick messaging.

How to Choose Stats

There are various different stats in Blightbound you can choose, and your hero will benefit from each one differently. Listed below are the different stats along with the benefits they give and what class of character will benefit the most from it. When building a character, the stats you choose should ultimately be determined by your playstyle as every character in the game benefits from each stat. It is important to remember that once you reach Level 8 you will no longer receive extra stat points as a reward for leveling. You can however still get a few extra stat points from leveling your Refuge.

Vitality
Increases maximum health by 5% per point. Maximum health defines your healing received from mana orbs and other healing effects (Warrior).

Power
Increases your damage by 2% per point (Assassin).

Agility
Increases movement speed and critical damage by 2% per point (Assassin).

Luck
Increases your critical chance by 1% per point as well as the level of items you find (Assassin).

Will
Reduces TItan Skill cooldowns by 5% per point and makes you more resistant to Blight (All classes).

Understand Character Roles

There are three starter character classes in Blightwood - warrior, mage, and assassin, and they each have a specific playstle. You can though build a character to how you want to play by the stats and items you choose. Each hero also has an ultimate that turns them into a god of destruction or a whirling blade demon. Listed below are the three starter heroes and their role in the team.

Understand Character Roles

Warrior
The first character in the warrior class is Malborys who is a strong melee type fighter. Malborys is built to be a Tank character whose role is to grab enemy attention and protect the other members of the party. All warriors have the following abilities:

- Sword Strike
Strike the enemy with a melee hit, capping at a combination of 3 hits, dealing increased damage with each hit. Using rage to hit an enemy with a strike will cause the hit to hit 5 times.

- Shield Block
Reduce incoming damage and build rage points depending on damage taken. Hit enemies with Sword Strike to spend rage.

Mage
The first character in the mage class is Korrus, and he is the healer for the team. Korrus can cast strong magic attacks and has a shield ability that makes allies invincible. All mages have the following abilities:

- Spirit Shot
The mage fires an array of three shots, the last dealing AoE and increased damage.

- Healing Beam
The mage consumes one mana, it's personal resource, and heals nearby allies for an amount equal to a scaling amount based off their max hp.

Assassin
The first character in the assassin class is Scarlet, and she is built as a DPS (Damage Per Second) character capable of killing enemies quickly. Scarlet also receives a Backstab damage bonus whenever she hits enemies from behind. All assassins have the following abilities:

- Stab
Slice your enemy for 33% weapon damage and generate 1 combo point.

- Execute
Stab forward and spend combo points up to 3 to deal 80% weapon damage per point plus the same damage over 5 seconds.

Unlock the Bestiary to Learn Item Drops

The Mentor in Blightbound is an artisan you are able to recruit when you reach Refuge Level 6. Once you have unlocked the Mentor, you will be able to view the activity log for the Refuge and inspect your enemies in the Bestiary. Providing you have fought the enemy before, this log will also show you where the enemies can be found and what they drop. This will help you considerably when you are looking for particular items when you want to craft something.
