Full Review for Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean by Rolan

Introduction

For all RPG fans out there, this game is a must have. Everything that a good RPG has is present in this game. With over 1000 "magnus" cards to collect, which are used as ways to hold and use items, this game will challenge ever the best gamer to the fullest.

Graphics

The graphics in this game are excellent. The backgrounds are done in spectacular detail and attacks are rendered very well. Even the smallest characters are done in a lot of detail. Graphics flow smoothly throughout gameplay. There is even a very well done CG movie at the beginning.

Sound

Sounds in this game are top notch. Voiceovers are done for certain parts of the game and there is an option to turn them off if you want to. There is an in-game soundtrack list so that you can listen to the game's spectacular music whenever you would like to.

Gameplay

Gameplay is done through the unique magnus cards by using them in combos with the spirit numbers on them and trying to get pairs and straights to gain percentage bonuses on the damage you do. Turns can be slow at first if you need the extra time and get faster as you progress.

Lastability

The game takes a bare minimum of around 40 to 50 hours to complete. There is then at least that much in extra features and sidequests. If you miss things on your first play through the game then you could play it again and it would still be just as fun.

Overall

This game in my opinion gets a perfect score. Everything is put together in just the right way to make it all great. The player can even get involved in the game as they play a Guardian Spirit who helps the main character by enabling spirit attacks. Very innovative, Kudos to the people who made this game
