Farmville Updated with New Features, New Content as Holidays Approach

Expanded Mastery System

In addition to making breeding a more scientific -- and convenient -- process, the expansions to breeding also equates to more opportunity to shape the process of mastering a given type of animal, with the animal, tree, and crop mastery systems also receiving TLC in recent months!

If you are not familiar with this, the mastery system, a goal-based three-tiered system that farmers work towards in the regular process of harvesting crops and animal resources uses predictable targets that, in addition to paying off in XP and coin rewards, grants a farmer a special Mastery Sign when they reach the third and final tier in each under the mastery system.

The current level of mastery for a given item in the program can be accessed by accessing the Mastery Status Interface -- called "My Mastery" -- using the Ribbon button off of the main console interface in the bottom right corner of the screen (see embedded picture below), with the collection of signs (see embedded picture) indicating to visitors which crops and animals that you have fully mastered!

More Improvements to Come

"The new missions and quests that are being implemented now for the holidays will see much greater relevance to the crafting system added to the game, making it a more desirable aspect for farmers to explore and to expand on their farms," or Elf explains.

"The rewards that are granted for completing the different missions and quests add a meaningful measure of power to each individual farmer and make the game more fun as well!" they explained.

Traditionally with each holiday there are missions and quests added to both celebrate the holiday and add an avenue for awarding rare, exclusive, and often powerful rewards for the farmers. The distinction between a mission and a quest is that missions tend to come in multiple stages, while quests generally contain just a single stage.

In the past there have been missions that granted the ability for farmers to move items from storage on their main farm to storage on their farm in the English Countryside -- allowing farmers to move items between the two, which really expands the use of one or the other for dedicated purposes.

Other rewards have included statues that, when placed on your farm offered double XP for a limited time, and special buildings that can be harvested for special parts or resources that apply to missions as well as quests, each with its own set of special rewards as well.

The most recent events celebrated for Halloween included Duckula's Castle, and a special candy-storage building, both of which offered incredibly attractive rewards and prizes, as well as a "Trick or Treating" quest that rewarded players for playing "tricks" on their neighbors.

Look for a number of limited time and special collection items to appear in the game in the coming weeks, as our Farmville Elf says that there are serious plans to offer limited-time items as the year draws to a close, starting with the return of the Santa Gnome!
