France Sets its Sights Upon E3

The Electronic Entertainment Expo -- E3 -- is to gamers what Mecca is to half the world's population: a place of worship where special things happen, and insight into the future can be had.

That being the case it is surprising that so few national governments have figured out that E3 is the place to go when you want to showcase the talents of your gaming industry -- so it is not all that surprising that France is returning and, once again, setting up shop at E3, or that the French Trade Commission is organizing a pavilion with 10 French companies where they will welcome more than 46 000 participants, join 300 exhibitors from over 90 countries, and sing praise for their innovation!

This year, UBIFRANCE will be present again at this worldwide show in the South Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center. French companies will exhibit their latest innovations and new exciting products related to the computer and video games industry.

The ten French exhibitors at E3 2011 include:

Bug Tracker (www.bug-tracker.com) Game and software testing agency

Smack Down Productions (www.smackdownprods.com) Multi-platform independent game designer

Bulkypix (www.bulkypix.com) Game developer for smartphones and tablets

Takeoff (www.takeoffstudio.com) Creative agency in design, video and interactive applications

Playsoft (www.playsoft.fr) Develops games for molbile, tablet and Facebook applications

Epawn (www.epawn.fr) Flat screen auxilary unit for smartphone and tablet games

Dynamixyz (www.dynamixyz.com) 3-D facial analysis and synthesis

These 10 companies will also be joined by Lexis Numérique, an independent game design studio, and other games companies from France.

The ten companies present a cross-section of the industry, from support services to game studios, representing a nation that at last count has over 15 million individuals who play video games an annual sales that are estimated at close to 2 billion Euros when software and hardware sales for consoles and PCs are included.

Gaming Update will be covering E3 this year from the floor, and we will keep you informed on the happenings at E3 with special attention to this years hottest sector in gaming -- the mobile gaming platforms!
