Gears of War 3 Wind-Up DLC and Other Stories from the Frontlines

That Aggressive Approach to DLC
The next major DLC for the game is due to arrive on January 17th, when the Fenix Rising Map Pack will roll out, and with it will be five new battlegrounds for the various multi-player modes that are a prominent presence in the game -- you know if they wanted to Epic could just as easily released the multi-player modes and maps as a stand-alone title and nobody would have complained because there is plenty to do in that part alone -- but there would have been blood spilled if they had, I know...

The new feature that everyone is waiting for and that arrives with Fenix Rising on the 17th is the new experience system revamp which allows players who max out their levels to reset their rank and basically re-enlist for another tour of duty, and how cool is that?

Rounding out the content for the new DLC is the to-be-expected new character skins, including Gear recruit Clayton, and Augustus "Cole Train" in a Thrashball uniform, as well as a Kantu, and a Savage Marauder Skin.

Can You Spot the Studio's Cat?

The third of the previously announced (and in theory planned) four DLC Add-On's for the game, Fenix Rising will set you back a cool 800 Microsoft Points (around $10 -- which is like 2,354.05 Hungarian Forint you know, if we lived in Hungary which we don't), while the first two in the series -- the Horde Command Pack and its three new maps, three new playable characters, and Horde Mode Fortification upgrades (800 Microsoft Points) and the RAAM's Shadow Pack which featured expanded campaign mode game play (we cover that below) has a rack rate of 1,200 Microsoft points (around $15).

The free Versus Booster add-on was also released as a gift to the fans on Thanksgiving Day -- so if you are getting any of the first three or not, you should get that if only to be gracious in accepting a gift that was freely offered!
