Sea of Thieves Season 19 Act 2 starts today with the Doubloon reset and Bilge Rats Weekender

Sea of Thieves Season 19 Act 2 launches today, and the big one — the Doubloon reset everyone's been bracing for since January — lands with it. Alongside the currency wipe, Rare is rolling out the first Bilge Rats Weekender, a new set of Deeds, and the usual sweep of curated changes.
If you've been sitting on a pile of Doubloons, today is the day it matters. Here's what's actually happening.
Sea of Thieves Season 19 Act 2 at a glance
- Act 2 and the Doubloon reset both go live today, April 16
- Remaining Doubloons auto-convert into commemorative Doubloon Hoarder cosmetics first, then gold for the remainder
- Doubloons earned via Season 19 Seasonal Renown will be returned after the reset
- The Doubloon Hoarder Cutlass auto-awards to anyone with 50,000+ lifetime Doubloons earned, delivered later
- First Bilge Rats Weekender runs April 16–20, themed around a Festival of Fishing encore
- New Deeds added alongside curated changes
The Doubloon reset is the headline
This is the one to pay attention to. At some point today, any Doubloons sitting in your wallet will be converted — first spent automatically on any commemorative Doubloon Hoarder items you don't already own (Title, Eyepatch, Belt, Sails), starting with the most expensive, and whatever's left over gets turned into gold. You can't lose value on the swap, but you also can't opt out.
One thing Rare clarified after some confusion on the forums: Doubloons earned through Seasonal Renown in Season 19 will be returned to you after the reset. So if you've been grinding the Plunder Pass this season, those coins aren't going anywhere.
There's also a lifetime reward bolted on. Anyone who earned more than 50,000 Doubloons across their time playing — regardless of how many they've since spent — will be handed the Doubloon Hoarder Cutlass in a follow-up update. No action needed.
From today, all Outpost stock that used to cost Doubloons switches to gold pricing. Doubloons will still exist as a currency, but they're becoming much scarcer — you'll mainly earn them through Seasonal Renown and Bilge Rats Weekenders.
Bilge Rats Weekender: April 16–20
The inaugural Weekender runs a bit longer than future ones — five days rather than the standard weekend — to give everyone a chance to check it out. The debut event leans on a Festival of Fishing encore, so expect fishing-themed challenges as the core activity.
Here's what to look out for:
- Challenges that pay out in Doubloons, which is the main way to rebuild your stash after the reset
- Time-limited Voyages hunting for Bilge Rats Doubloon Crates and Secret Shipment Crates — deliver these for sizeable Doubloon rewards and possibly other bits
- Firework displays at Outposts across the weekend
- Larinna sets up her Bilge Rats Black Market inside the tavern with returning items from past Seasons
- Duke appears somewhere on the map with new exclusive wares — you'll have to find him
The Doubloons you earn here go straight into Larinna's and Duke's stocks, so this is the new loop: earn at the Weekender, spend at the markets.
New Deeds and curated changes
On top of the Doubloon work, Act 2 ships a fresh batch of Deeds to chase and the usual grab-bag of curated changes across the game. Rare hasn't framed Act 2 as an expansion-scale drop — it's a mid-season update — but between the reset, the Weekender, and the new Deeds, there's enough reason to log in today even if you've been away since Act 1.
Where this fits in Season 19
Season 19 is structured across three Acts. Act 1 focused on the Faction Battles refresh. Act 2 is the Doubloon reset and the launch of Bilge Rats Weekenders as a recurring Event. Act 3, later in the season, brings Last Ship Standing — a six-crew Sloop-only PvP mode in the Sea of the Damned.
If you're playing today, the priorities are simple: don't stress about unspent Doubloons (the auto-convert has you covered), check whether you qualify for the Cutlass reward, and jump into the Weekender for your first post-reset Doubloon haul. Festival of Fishing fans, this one's especially for you.
