There are over 80 dinosaurs in the mobile version of ARK: Survival Evolved and each have unique taming methods. Once you have tamed a dinoasuar it will become your pet and can be used for riding, item transportation, storage, hunting, harvesting, resource production, and defending property while you are offline.

You can start taming dinosaurs as soon as you learn the Level 2 primitive wood club or Level 6 slingshot engrams. The first thing you need to do is subdue the dinosaur and there are various ways this can be done, if it is a large dinosaur you will need to learn the Narcotics, Mortar and Pestle, and Bow engrams and bring it down form distance using tranquilizer arrows that use the narcotics you produce. Once the dinosaur is down you need to carefully approach it and open its inventory so you can feed it an appropriate food item by dragging food into its inventory and waiting for the creature to eat it. The food needed to tame the dinosaur will vary based on the creature you are trying to tame, herbivores want berries harvested from plants, while carnivores generally want meat. Make sure while you are taming the dinosaur you keep plenty of food in its inventory.

Once you have tamed a dinosaur you will be able to control it via the 'Pet' menu which is indicated by a whistle icon on the left-side quick menu. If your dinosaur is within listening range it will heed your call and you will be able to command it.
