1: League of Legends (2009)

In League of Legends two teams of powerful champions, each with a unique design and playstyle, battle head-to-head across multiple battlefields and game modes. The objective of the game is to destroy the opposing team's 'nexus', a structure which lies at the heart of a base and is protected by defensive structures. The game consists of 3 game modes - Summoner's Rift, Twisted Treeline, and Howling Abyss. The champions and setting blend a variety of elements, including high fantasy, steampunk, and Lovecraftian horror.

2: Smite (2014)

In Smite, players control a god, godess, or other mythological figure and take part in team based combat, using abilities and tactics against other player-controlled gods and non-controlled minions. The game involves two teams battling their way through waves of NPC minions and towers with the ultimate objective of destroying the opposing faction's main structure, in this case a 'Titan'. The game has multiple payer versus player modes, the largest and most popular being Conquest.

3: Defense of the Ancients 2 (2009)

In Defense of the Ancients 2 two teams of five players each independently controlling a powerful character with unique abilities known as a 'hero' battle against each other as they seek to destroy a large structure in the opposing team's base called the 'Ancient' while at the same time defending their own. The first team to destroy the other team's 'Ancient' wins the game.

4: Heroes of the Storm (2015)

Heroes of the Storm features a cast of heroes from Warcraft, StarCraft, The Lost Vikings, and Overwatch and revolves around two teams of five players competing against each other on a random battlefield. There are seven battlefields and each of them offers a different layout and a different set of objectives. All heroes begin with three abilities alongside a passive power and they earn an ultimate when their team reaches level ten.

5: Vainglory (2014)

In Vainglory two opposing teams of three players fight to reach and destroy the enemy's base while defending their own. This objective is achieved by controlling the path between the bases, which is lined by turrets and guarded by AI controlled enemy creatures. Their is also a 'jungle' beneath the path which contains creatures with objectives to either kill or capture them. The four PvP modes in the game are Standard, Battle Royale, Blitz, and Onslaught.
