What are Combos

To be successful in Athem it is important that you master how to perform Combos as doing so will make you a dangerous adversary in combat. By using certain abilities in conjunction with each other you can create a combo attack that is able to inflict massive ammounts of damage to the enemy. When you successfully complete a combo attack you will get an audio and on-screen cue in the form of a big yellow 'Combo' above the enemy.

How to Perform Combos

To begin a combo you first need to hit the enemy with a Primer ability or attack (circle within a circle icon). This 'preps' or 'primes' the target so the combo can be activated and hit by a Detonator ability or attack (4-point star icon). To successfully execute a combo you need to hit a 'primed' target with a Detonator ability or attack which then completes the combo and provides an extra effect that is unique to each Javelin suit. Only the Javelin who successfully detonates a primed target will receive the combo effect.

Why are Combos Important

Combos deal much more damage than single abilities. They also allow you to weaken nearby enemies which is very useful when you are fighting with bigger groups of enemies. Combo attacks don't require any resources or energy, you only have to wait for the abilities to cooldown.
