How and when to enter cheat codes

I found a list of cheat codes for this game but it doesn't say anything about when and where to enter the codes and I find this to be very frustrating. Do you know how to enter the codes

Go to the 3 lines at top left of main screen where you see squad depot and others then go down and you'll see the redeem button.
