Just take Umaro with you. I tend to equip him with running shoes and something to boost his attack. I like the gauntlet. He's the only one that will deal physical damage and you no longer have to worry about the boss's barrier change.

Side note: I recommend stealing from the Magic Master to get the crystal orb.
