Alundra is a puzzle/ action game about a boy who seeks to avenge his mother's death at the hands of pirates, he meets up with alexia, the kings daughter and together they set out to save the kingdom which is under threat by baron diaz and his acomplice, the mage mephysto.
The graphics are basically slightly pixilated 3D sprites, this doesn't reduce the game's quality that much though, it's images were good for it's time, this came out I think at around the same time as sonic adventure and other games that have been remembered more
This has more soundtracks than most PS2 games i've played, the sound is ok but a lot of the effects are default noises for a lot of RPGs today. I seem to remember only some of the cutscenes have voice, the others are text boxes headed with the speaking character's name, as were most games at that time
Although this game can get annoying and tedious after being stuck on one level for a prolenged amount of time, it's very fun and addictive but it's also very annoying at times, it's well thought up and the storyline is complex and involving, it's people are lifelike and about as human as a computer image can get
I've played this game for years, on and off, I always go back to it, even after throwing the controller at something in frustration afetr the 30th time failing some elusive puzzle, I'm still only about halfway through, it's one of those old games - like sonic, that is just incredibly well made, back then graphics were poor so they had to have excellent scripting and storyline.
It's not the sort of thing i'd recommend to someone who wants an astoundingly good game that they can play through and think "Awesome" at the end, this is the sort of game that, when you get to the end you would say "thank god" it's the sort of game where you want to see the next level and want to find out what happens next, thats what keeps you going
