Okay, on my version of the game this has never happened, but on my sister's it has. Basically, my mii is dating SpongeBob (don't ask why lol) but the other day, he turned 18. He is now classed as an adult, while I am still a child. Is this a glitch? If they ever get married, will the game just glitch out?

No, it won't glitch out. This same thing happened on my island. When the two miis decide to get married and you have to use the age o matic spray, you will only spray the child mii.
Yes, you need to use the age o manic spay to make the child an adult and then everything in normal. When it is the day before their b-day of turning 18, use the kid o manic spray to make them their real age, to then have her turn 18.
A child mini and an adult mii can’t be together as the game was programmed not to let child miis marry adult miis. So, when they get married, the game will make Spongebob a kid and you will spray the age - o - matic to make them both adults!
