I've had one traveler to my island and I have set one off but there are four waiting and the one visiting is still waiting to leave why do they have to wait so long they been waiting there for two months now ! My street passes on an open but I can only connect with my friends 3DS in the same household Is that correct ?

Travelers leave your island whenever you connect with street pass to someone else who also plays the game. You have to pass someone who plays the game and both of you need to have your DS with you on sleep mode.
