When you are able to edit the town you can earn 18,000 G easily by selling the milk can decorations.

An easy way to earn money is using multiplayer, which you can unlock on Spring 27 of Year 1. Milk (and shear, if you have unlocked the clippers) the animals and then exit the server. Then, return to single-player and ship the items you received.
Another way to get money quick is selling items around town, though this is not as effective. First, go to your workshop and select Edit. Then, proceed to go to town. Collect any unwanted/useless items and then ship them. Also, if you complete a Town Restoration plan, you can collect any items (not houses) you placed and ship them. It isn't necessary, but can earn you a little more gold.
There are many other ways to earn money, but I think these are the most effective ones. Also, I'm on Spring 1 of Year 2, so I can't help you that much. Hope I at least helped you a bit though! :D
