Prepare Recipes in Order

Every recipe in Overcooked 2 has a specific order you must follow for preparing it, and it is important that you always keep this in mind to avoid losing time by not making them in the order implied. This is crucial when you are playing against the clock as every mistake counts, even if it is a small mistake like delivering a hamburger with an extra or a pizza with a missing topping.

How to Stop Fires

A fire will begin if you let a pot or pan burn, and it will spread quickly if it is not dealt with immediately. In order to put a fire out you need to grab the fire extinguisher which will always be nearby and press the action button on your controller to put out the flames. Fires should be avoided at all costs because of the damage they cause your utensils which once burned will leave you no choice but to 'toss' them out, which means taking them to the garbage disposal and emptying out the burnt contents.

Pay Attention to Pots and Pans

In Overcooked 2 ingredients start cooking the moment that they are over the burner. It is crucial that you pay attention to the length of time that the ingredients are over the burner because if they are there too long it will start a fire. An exclamation mark will appear on screen along with an audible warning when this is about to happen.

You can though while cooking do the following to help prevent a fire. When you add an ingredient into the pot the cooking timer will be reset so take advantage of this whenever you see something is close to burning by adding another ingredient. If you have no ingredients available, just take the pot or pan off the burner and place it on the counter. Doing this will stop cooking but picks up where it left off once replaced.

Delegate Tasks

If you are playing Overcooked 2 in single-player you will control two chefs in the kitchen which you will need to constantly switch between to complete the different tasks. If however you are playing with other people in multiplayer things become a lot harder to manage as you no longer have complete control as to what is happening. It is therefore essential that you work together as a team to get the orders out which means it is crucial that each player is delegated a task and knows their role in the process.

For example, have one player gather ingredients, place another in charge of chopping and tenderizing, while another cooks and plates, and the last person serves and clean dishes. If there are less than four players then some players will need to have more than one responsibility.
