.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | - Resident Evil 5 Treasure Guide - | | Written by ElectroSpecter | | Version 1.0 | '-----------------------------------------------------------------------------' CONTACT INFORMATION: -------------------- XBOX 360 GAMERTAG: ElectroSpecter2 PERSONAL YOUTUBE CHANNEL: http://youtube.com/user/IAmElectrospecter EMAIL ADDRESS: [email protected] .-----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | - Introduction - | '-----------------------------------------------------------------------------' There was one minor thing (major, in a relative sense) that drove me to start this small project. I couldn't find any decent descriptions on how to find the Oval Topaz. It drove me nuts until I broke down and looked on YouTube to figure out how to get it (to be quite fair, there are some great descriptions out there now as I finish up the guide). The guide grew from there into what you see now. The guide is meant to be very in depth. You'll find listings of the treasures both in order they appear in your "Treasure Stash" (on the inventory management screen) and in the order you can collect them in the game. You'll find general hunting tips, if you don't want me to spoil everything for you. You'll hear about the best (or at least, what I found to be the best) ways to stockpile money. I'll also list static gold locations in each of the levels. As an afterthought, I would very much like to add in a section with real life facts about treasures, as well as any other insight that can be shone upon the game. If you have any information about gems, gem cuts, Nigerian culture, or any of the other treasures, let me know. I hope this guide is as thorough and descriptive as possible, and I hope that readers enjoy what I've written. If you find anything that I've missed or any errors, please drop me a line and let me know. .-----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | - Contents - | '-----------------------------------------------------------------------------' [1] FAQs ..................................................... [LGAL] .-----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | - 1. FAQs [FQQS] - | '-----------------------------------------------------------------------------' Q. Can you combine treasures like in RE4? A. While it certainly seems like you would be able to with the plethora of differently cut gems, there's absolutely nothing you can combine in RE5. Sell everything as soon as you are able. Q. What happened to the Merchant?! A. I don't know, this is something that has upset me as well. I like to think that he (and all the other ones) survived the explosion at the end of RE4 and are now living in some sort of Merchant commune somewhere, where good will and hyperinflation reign supreme. Q. N? What currency is that? A. It's the Nigerian Naira. One US Dollar equals 147 Nairas. That means that some of those giant gemstones you get from the powerful enemies (worth N 10,000) are only worth about $68.00. Not too shabby! Q. So, are you some sort of treasure expert? A. Haha, noo. I would, however, like to hear from anyone who actually knows a lot about treasures, gems, gem cuts, Nigeria, or whatever. I am willing to add in a section at the end of the guide with facts about these things. Q. Do you take donations? A. Yes, I'm currently accepting all forms of rings, necklaces, gems... No seriously, I don't really. It's something that never really worked for me. If you're really adamant on giving me money, use my hotmail address on PayPal. Q. Your guide sucks. Don't you have a life? A. I haven't gotten one of these in a while, but honestly, if you feel the need to send me emails like this, go ahead. Just don't expect me to take you seriously. .-----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | - 2. General Treasure Hunting Tips [THNT] - | '-----------------------------------------------------------------------------' If you're interested in finding the game's treasures on your own (good luck), use this section for some general, non-spoilerish tips. - Wait until you've stockpiled lots of ammo and heavy weaponry, or just grab a bunch of weapons with infinite ammo before treasure hunting. This leads right in to the next tip. - Kill everything, all the time, and do it the hard way. Especially bosses. - Always look up! There's plenty of sparkly things on the ceilings that you may miss if you're constantly looking at the ground. You should be in this habit anyway if you're looking for the BSAA Emblems. - Speaking of treasures in the ceiling, are you sure you know how to get them down? Shooting them won't damage them, so don't be afraid. Use your knife if it's low enough to conserve ammo. Same goes with gems embedded in skulls and torches. - Watch the mini map. If you see a dead end, there's usually something there (typically treasure with the threat of enemies). Also, look for tiny "floating" pieces of the mini map that don't connect to the path you're on. Chances are you'll be able to jump a gap and reach this little area to find treasure. - You can easily find out which gems you are missing, as they follow a pattern in your inventory. They are first arranged by the way they are cut: - Pear - Square - Oval - Trilliant - Brilliant - Heart-shaped And within each of these groups they are arranged by the type of gem: - Topaz - Ruby - Sapphire - Emerald - Diamond That's all I can think of right now. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know. .-----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | - 3. Treasure [TRSR] - | '-----------------------------------------------------------------------------' The following list mirrors the way your inventory management screen organizes the treasures. For a listing of the treasures in the order you can receive them in the game, please refer to the next section, Chapter Breakdowns. Treasure inventory screen: .----.----.----.----.----.----. | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | <-- This basic chart just shows what your |----|----|----|----|----|----| treasure inventory screen looks like. | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 11 | 12 | Match the number up with the treasure |----|----|----|----|----|----| listed below to find what you're | 13 | 14 | 15 | 16 | 17 | 18 | missing from your list. A QUICK NOTE: There are a few SPOILERS in the descriptions, for simplicity sake and my sanity. _____________________________________________________________________________ 1. GOLD RING - Value: 5,000 - Description: A gold ring with precious stones. It could fetch a good price. Locations: - Chapter 1-1: During the fight in the public assembly, you'll eventually fight the Executioner Majini. Kill him and he'll drop this. o Chapter 1-2: Kill Uroboros the good old fashioned way: Shoot it until it dies. If you use the incineration chamber, you won't get the Ring. o Chapter 3-2: When Josh is using the final computer to open the door, a Chainsaw Majini will make his way towards you from the other side of the room. While it's difficult to kill him on your first run through the game, you should wait for him and kill him if you have the correct resources later. He drops a Ring. o Chapter 3-2: When you get to the docks, you'll eventually get a count- down during which you need to run to a boat. Also at this time, a Big Man Majini will appear and attack. Kill him to get your fourth Ring and do it fast!). _____________________________________________________________________________ 2. IVORY RELIEF - Value: 2,000 - Description: A beautiful woman's portrait has been carved into the ivory. The handiwork is impeccable. Location: - Chapter 1-2: During this chapter, you'll eventually come across a woman in a building (you'll know because of the cutscene). Kill her when she attacks, and she'll drop the Relief. Be careful though, the exposed parasite can take a while to kill unless you have a flash grenade handy. _____________________________________________________________________________ 3. DEAD BRIDE'S NECKLACE - Value: 2,000 - Description: A necklace of pure gold with a large medallion hanging from it. Location: - Chapter 5-2: Quite a ways into the chapter, just before the Uroboros boss, you'll come across a set of conveyor belts with crates on one and corpses on the others. This is just after you encounter your first Reaper. Anyway, when you reach these belts, turn them on using the lever. Jump onto them and run towards the fire until you can switch over to the belts with the dead bodies. Run back up the belt, and you should be able to grab TWO of the Dead Bride's Necklaces before you reach the other side. Just be careful though, they aren't quite "dead." - Chapter 6-1: After killing the gatling gun mini boss and collecting the two card keys, you'll enter a room with three Rocket Launcher Majinis. Each will drop a Dead Bride's Necklace. For whatever weird reason. _____________________________________________________________________________ 4. ROYAL NECKLACE - Value: 5,000 - Description: A rather expensive necklace encrusted with jewels. It truly is a piece for royalty. Location: - Chapter 5-3: Start the chapter and proceed through the first area fraught with Reapers and Rocket Launcher Majinis. At the end of the area, after getting past two or three of the rocket launcher guys, you will enter a room (with even more Majinis). Near a computer terminal is the Royal Necklace. It stands out due to the red box it's in, but you may miss it regardless, as it doesn't look like any of the other stray treasures. _____________________________________________________________________________ 5. JEWEL BANGLE - Value: 1,000 - Description: An elegant bracelet adorned with many precious stones. Locations: - Chapter 2-1: Head out of the room you initially start the chapter in and you'll be in a yard full of containers. After dealing with trip wires, dogs, and Crossbow Majinis, you'll come to a somewhat open area with a Big Man Majini, more dogs, a Molotov Majini, and some oil barrels. Take care of the Big Man Majini to get the Bangle (it's fun to watch him get caught in the Molotov explosions). - Chapter 2-1: When you grab the Port Key later, you'll be attacked by more Majini. One of them is a Big Man Majini, so kill him for the Bangle. Very soon after, when your air support arrives, another Big Man Majini will run towards you out of a building. o Chapter 3-2: When you first meet Josh and he's on the computer trying to make the elevator work, you'll have to fight off a bunch of Majinis. Eventually, two Big Man Majinis will jump in, and both will drop a Bangle. - Chapter 5-3: You'll eventually reach a point where either Chris or Sheva must travel alone across a moving platform. When the platform first starts coming towards you, there will be a Big Man Majini riding across to you, flanked by two lesser Majini. Snipe them all (or whatever) and the Jewel Bangle will mysteriously drop not on the platform, but on the far side of the gap. Have your partner use the lever so you can cross and pick it up. - Chapter 6-1: While it is tough to explain WHERE the three Big Man Majinis are in this chapter, I can say that you will fight all three without having to look for them. There is one before the event where your partner is trapped by the crane, and two after. _____________________________________________________________________________ 6. VENOM FANG - Value: 3,000 - Description: A gold bracelet fashioned to look like a deadly snake. Location: - Chapter 3-2: You'll encounter two Chainsaw Majinis automatically while solving the "puzzle" in the oil refinery (shutting the valves off to get rid of the fire). Each will attack after you turn a valve, so be ready. They're tough, but they'll each drop the bracelet. _____________________________________________________________________________ 7. ANTIQUE CLOCK - Value: 2,000 - Description: An expensive-looking clock. It should be worth something if it works. Location: - Chapter 1-2: Head through the public assembly area at the beginning of the chapter and enter the next area (where you use your partner to find the Old Building Key). Towards the end of this area, before you kick down the door, there's a rather large house with several entrances. The only way in is through the ground floor blue door. Head inside, head up the steps, and head for the western balcony. Kill the two Majini that attack and head out. You'll find the clock in a chest. _____________________________________________________________________________ 8. CHALICE (SILVER) - Value: 2,000 - Description: A chalice made of pure silver used during celebrations of the winter solstice. Locations: - Chapter 3-1: While in the boat, head to the northwest corner of the map and disembark. There's a chest here with a Chalice. - Chapter 3-1: While still in the boat, pilot yourself to the central island and disembark. The chest here has another Chalice. _____________________________________________________________________________ 9. CHALICE (GOLD) - Value: 3,000 - Description: A chalice made of pure gold used during celebrations of the summer solstice. Locations: - Chapter 5-3: Very far into the chapter, you'll encounter a bridge that needs to be lowered. After fighting the Lickers on the upper level, drop down into the house where the bridge switch is. The locker in here contains a Chalice. - Chapter 6-2: Just be extremely thorough in searching the lockers from the time you begin this chapter and you should get another two Chalices. _____________________________________________________________________________ 10. IDOL (SILVER) - Value: 2,000 - Description: An ancient idol charged with controlling the phases of the moon. Locations: - Chapter 3-1: Use the boat to travel to the northeastern part of the map and disembark. At the back of the village are two high huts that you must boost your partner up to. The left one contains the Idol. - Chapter 3-1: Again, use the boat, but this time disembark in the south- western corner. You'll find another Idol in a chest after a casual search. _____________________________________________________________________________ 11. IDOL (GOLD) - Value: 3,000 - Description: An ancient idol charged with controlling the movements of the sun. Locations: - Chapter 4-1: First reach the large room with the statues that you must pull to change the stairs in the middle of the room. After pulling your second statue, turn around and jump across the gap to your right. The chest here contains the Idol. - Chapter 4-2: Reach the area where you must reflect light beams to activate the elevator. Solve the first and second floors to reach the final puzzle. To open up the chambers around the room, turn the following reflectors to the right: the southwest one, the northwest one, and the northeast one. The Idol is in the eastern chamber. _____________________________________________________________________________ 12. CEREMONIAL MASK - Value: 4,000 - Description: A mask belonging to the god of war, passed down through the generations. Location: - Chapter 3-1: Right at the very end of the chapter, before you get on the gondola, head west into the cave (which shows as a dead end on your map). The chest here contains the Mask. _____________________________________________________________________________ 13. JEWEL BEETLE - Value: 2,000 - Description: A beautiful insect whose color changes depending on the angle you view it. Me: So is this a real bug or what? Locations: - Chapter 2-2: Begin the chapter and head out to the train depot. Head to the stack of lumber that you would normally use to reach the tops of the trains. Climb up the first two piles, but instead of climbing to train roof, turn around to the north and you'll be able to grab a Beetle off the side of the wood. - Chapter 2-2: From the last Beetle, jump down off the planks and head east. Turn south when you are able to reach the dead end. Search the right (western) corner of the dead end for another Beetle. - Chapter 3-1: In the final area of the chapter, you'll have to turn a crank to lower the bridge. To the right of the crank is a door that is barred from the other side, and to the right of the door is the Beetle. - Chapter 3-2: When you reach the area with the Tricell tents, check the oil barrels for a Beetle. - Chapter 3-2: Climb up to the central platform that houses a valve (it's the valve that doesn't turn one of the two main gas leaks off, but instead turns a single gas leak off that lets you reach one of the other valves; no Chainsaw Majini will spawn). Up on this platform, search around for the Beetle. - Chapter 5-1: Begin the chapter and head left around the flower garden When you reach the dead end, check to the right for the Beetle. _____________________________________________________________________________ 14. BEETLE (BROWN) - Value: 1,000 - Description: Your average, everyday beetle. Probably not worth much. Me: 1,000 Nairas is worth about $7.00. That's actually a lot for a damn beetle. Locations: - Chapter 3-1: Check the tree to your right as you begin this chapter for the first Beetle. The beetles are easy to find, as they are usually above the purple lilac looking flowers. - Chapter 3-1: Head to the southwestern corner of the map while in the boat. Head through the wooden gate and past the stone wall until you hit the fence that separates you from the huts. Now head right and you'll pass a tree with a Beetle on your right. You can even speed past it and Sheva will still grab it! - Chapter 3-1: Head to the central island with the chickens and look for the Beetle on a tree to your left after you disembark and head up the dock. - Chapter 3-1: Now head northwest from the central island to the sunken ship (it appears as a dot on your map). This poor guy is sitting upside-down in the water to your left after you disembark. - Chapter 3-1: Continue northwest and disembark at the small wooden walk- way. Drop down into the center where the fish are hanging and search the western wall for yet another beetle. o Chapter 3-1: Head to the eastern part of the lake with the giant alligators. Jump on in and head left to the lone tree with the final Beetle. You may want to wait until a new game when you can kill the gators with infinite magnum ammo or something. - Chapter 3-1: While looking at the map of the lake, look for the long line denoting a fence coming from the middle of the northern boundary of the lake. Pilot your boat to the southern tip of this fence (though the map is different from the actual fencing in the game for some reason). Here you should see more of the purple flowers with a Beetle above. _____________________________________________________________________________ 15. BEETLE (GOLD) - Value: 3,000 - Description: A valuable and almost legendary beetle. Location: - Chapter 4-2: Reach the area where you must reflect light beams to activate the elevator. Solve the first and second floors to reach the final puzzle. To open up the chambers around the room, turn the following reflectors to the right: the southwest one, the northwest one, and the northeast one. The Beetle is in the western chamber. _____________________________________________________________________________ 16. TOPAZ (PEAR) - Value: 1,000 - Description: A small, pale-yellow gem. Locations: - Chapter 2-1: Once you reach the docks (and the maze of merchant stands) you'll have to jump down onto the beach to proceed. Head into the ocean below, face out to sea and head to the upper right corner of the small ocean section you are in. You should find a Topaz under the surface of the water. - Chapter 2-1: After killing the Chainsaw Majini and looting his key, head down the alley where you are to use the key. You can't miss the chest here, and the Topaz is inside. - Chapter 4-1: Begin the chapter and head through the first area, killing the Bui kichwa (the spider-like enemies). When you eventually reach the door, you'll see a torch and some skulls on the ground. Break the torch for the Topaz. - Chapter 4-1: After getting the previous gem, you'll enter a large room. You'll end up crossing a bridge and getting separated from your partner at one point. When this happens, drop down and search for a torch. Take care of the hordes of Majini that attack, and then destroy the torch for another Topaz. - Chapter 4-2: Take a few steps when you begin the level, turn around, and aim up. This Topaz is embedded in the wall. _____________________________________________________________________________ 17. RUBY (PEAR) - Value: 1,000 - Description: A small, red gem. Locations: - Chapter 2-2: Once you're in the dark mines, have your partner grab the lantern and continue forward. Take a left at the first fork, kill the Majini in the water, and stop when you reach dry land. Kill the remaining Majini and then aim up to the ceiling, where you'll see the Ruby. - Chapter 2-2: After getting that previous Ruby, take a left at the next fork and continue to a bridge. Stop halfway across the bridge and aim up. You'll see another Ruby embedded in the wall. - Chapter 3-1: When you start this chapter, look for the skull to your left. Break it open for a Ruby. - Chapter 3-1: Use the boat to reach the northeast corner of the map, where the small village is. Disembark and head forward. Stop when you reach the first hut on your right. Face the entrance, and then look up and left to the top of a pole. There's a skull here with a Ruby in it. Shoot it to get it. - Chapter 3-1: This one is dangerous to obtain, as you must traverse the alligator infested water to get it (it's on the eastern side of the lake, use your boat to get there). It's easiest seen after collecting the Raptor Slate and returning to the boat. When you drop back into gator territory, you'll see the Ruby on the wall a bit ahead of you and to the left, before you run out from under the hut. - Chapter 3-2: After lowering the bridge in the first area by kicking the button, run across and enter the tunnel. Break the first torch you come to for a Ruby. - Chapter 4-1: Begin the chapter and head through the first area, killing the Bui kichwa (the spider-like enemies). When you eventually reach the door, you'll see a torch and some skulls on the ground. Break the skull on the right for a Ruby. - Chapter 4-1: In the large second area, you'll be separated from your partner. Fight your way back up. Right before you're reunited, there will be two rooms in front of you. Head into the right room and search the mummy to your left a couple times for a Ruby. - Chapter 4-1: In the statue pulling room, each statue will reveal a gem when it retracts. The second to last statue, the one you must split up to pull, will reveal a Ruby under the lower level statue. - Chapter 4-2: This one is located in the blasted sun laser room, where you must avoid a fiery fate from the mean Majini that try to fry you. First off, save yourself some trouble and kill the Majini manning the lasers. This can be done from the northwest and northeast corners of the room. Now head down the path that connects both of these sniping spots. You'll pass underneath a higher pathway. Stop under here and look up to find the gem. Shoot (or maybe knife?) it out. - Chapter 4-2: When you reach the area where you must reflect the light beams with the reflectors to activate the elevator, solve the first puzzle and head down to the second. The Ruby is on the platform that Sheva stands on while you do all the hard work. - Chapter 4-2: Reach the area where you must reflect light beams to activate the elevator. Solve the first and second floors to reach the final puzzle. To open up the chambers around the room, turn the following reflectors to the right: the southwest one, the northwest one, and the northeast one. The Ruby is set in a skull in the eastern chamber. Break the skull to get it. And THAT is the last of them. As far as I know. _____________________________________________________________________________ 18. SAPPHIRE (PEAR) - Value: 1,000 - Description: A small, deep-blue gem. Locations: - Chapter 2-1: Proceed through the chapter, past the truck on the bridge and the watery tunnel with the dogs. When you emerge into daylight again (in the small area with the "corpses"), turn left to find a Sapphire under the water. - Chapter 3-3: After clearing out enemies at the second gate, pretend that the gate itself is dead north (it isn't quite, but for the sake of the description, try to suspend your disbelief). There's a Sapphire sitting on the southern side of the eastern boardwalk. Basically the southeastern corner. - Chapter 4-1: Begin the chapter and head through the first area, killing the Bui kichwa (the spider-like enemies). Skip the ladder when you reach it, and proceed onward into the dead end (this is where you would get the Trilliant Topaz from the chest). From the ledge with the chest turn away from it and look up to the ceiling. Shoot out the embedded Sapphire. - Chapter 4-1: From the previous Sapphire, turn around and continue up the ladder. Head through the Bui kichwa infested hallway, and you'll reach a room with two skulls and a torch. The skull on the left contains a Sapphire. Break it open to get it. - Chapter 4-1: After the event in the second area when you are separated from your partner by the broken bridge, proceed on to become reunited. Just before you are reunited, you'll see two rooms. The one on the left contains a sarcophagus. Go get your partner and return to open it for lots of treasure, including a Sapphire (Pear). - Chapter 4-1: The room next to the previous room with the sarcophagus has a torch that you can break for another Sapphire. - Chapter 4-1: In the statue pulling room, each statue will reveal a gem when it retracts. The second to last statue, the one you must split up to pull, will reveal a Sapphire under the upper level statue. - Chapter 4-2: Start the level and proceed to the annoying attack laser room. After grabbing the Earth Emblem to the east and taking care of the Majini, start heading back to the center. Almost immediately you'll have to choose stairs leading up (on the left) or stairs leading down (to the right; most likely the stairs you came from). Head left UP the steps and stop at the top. Look up and to the left to see a Sapphire embedded in the wall. This one is knifable. _____________________________________________________________________________ 19. EMERALD (PEAR) - Value: 1,000 - Description: A small, dark-green gem. Locations: - Chapter 2-1: After killing the Chainsaw Majini and looting his key, head down the alley where you are to use the key. You can't miss the chest here, and the Emerald is inside. - Chapter 3-1: Use your boat to reach the northeast corner of the map. As soon as you disembark, head straight forward to an altar with a few pots. Aim up and shoot the skull for an Emerald. - Chapter 4-1: Begin the chapter and head through the first area, killing the Bui kichwa (the spider-like enemies). Head up the ladder and begin down the tunnel. When you reach the first torch of the tunnel, stop and kill any Bui kichwa, and then break the torch for an Emerald. - Chapter 4-1: In the second area, after you open the first sarcophagus full of gold (and before you are split up with your partner), break the first torch you come across for an Emerald. - Chapter 4-2: In the very northeast corner of the death laser chase room (where you can snipe the laser wielder), there is a torch to break with an Emerald in it. - Chapter 4-2: Reach the area where you must reflect light beams to activate the elevator. Solve the first and second floors to reach the final puzzle. To open up the chambers around the room, turn the following reflectors to the right: the southwest one, the northwest one, and the northeast one. The Emerald is set in a skull in the eastern chamber. Break the skull to get it. - Chapter 5-1: Begin the chapter and head up to the northern side of the circular flower garden. Face north and aim wayyyy up to the ceiling. Why a simple Emerald (Pear) is so well hidden is beyond me. _____________________________________________________________________________ 20. DIAMOND (PEAR) - Value: 2,000 - Description: A small, colorless gem. Locations: - Chapter 2-1: Head through the chapter, past the bridge with the truck, the tunnel with the dogs, and the area with the seemingly dead Majini and the Kipepeo (the flying parasites). The next area you'll reach is a docks area with merchant stands. You'll see a Majini running away as soon as you move forward in this area. It's tricky, but if you kill him before he gets away, this Diamond will be yours. - Chapter 2-2: The easier one to get is in the canyon area of this chapter. After proceeding past the gatling gun, there will be a ladder on your left. Before climbing up, aim towards the top of the ladder and shoot the Diamond out of the wall. _____________________________________________________________________________ 21. TOPAZ (SQUARE) - Value: 1,000 - Description: A pale-yellow, square-cut gem. Locations: - Chapter 4-1: Once you reach the large second area of the chapter, drop down the first cliff and turn right. Just past the two pots, embedded into the top of a door-like structure, is a Topaz. - Chapter 4-1: When you reach the statue pulling puzzle room, head to the southeastern corner of the room where there's a square walkway. This is also where several Majini attack. Once they are taken care of, head to the southern central part of the square walkway where you can jump to some steps that bring you to higher ground. Once you're at the top of the steps, aim up at the ceiling to shoot out a Topaz. - Chapter 4-1: The third statue you pull in the statue pulling room will move to reveal a Topaz. - Chapter 4-2: In the sun laser of doom room, head up the western hallway that has all the alcoves on the west side. In the second one from the south, there's a torch that you can break for a Topaz. _____________________________________________________________________________ 22. RUBY (SQUARE) - Value: 1,000 - Description: A red, square-cut gem. Locations: - Chapter 2-1: After killing the Chainsaw Majini and looting his key, head down the alley where you are to use the key. You can't miss the chest here, and the Ruby is inside. - Chapter 2-2: Proceed through the darkened mines to the hectic quarry room where the large-scale fight unfolds. Take care of all the Majini (especially the ones throwing dynamite), and head to the central platform in the room. It's accessible by climbing up a ladder from the ground floor and then heading across some boardwalks. There's no GPS available, so I can't give good cardinal directions, but if you just aim up at the circular parts of the central machinery, you'll eventually see a Ruby sparkling in the middle of one of the circles. Shoot it to get it out. - Chapter 2-2: After killing everyone in the quarry, head to the top level where you have a choice of two tunnels. Take the left tunnel and head forward until a Majini jumps down at you. Kill him and look up. You should see the Ruby in the ceiling (thanks go to Dave for cluing me in on this treasure). - Chapter 3-2: Head past the Tricell tents and proceed towards the oil refinery. Before you head through the doors, turn to the right and aim up at the wall. There's a Ruby embedded here, just begging to be shot down and collected the crap out of. - Chapter 5-1: Begin this chapter, turn around, and aim up and to the right. Shoot the sparkly little guy and it'll fall out of the ceiling. _____________________________________________________________________________ 23. SAPPHIRE (SQUARE) - Value: 1,000 - Description: A deep-blue, square-cut gem. Locations: - Chapter 2-1: After killing the Chainsaw Majini and looting his key, head down the alley where you are to use the key. You can't miss the chest here, and the Sapphire is inside. - Chapter 3-2: After lowering the bridge in the first area by kicking the button, run across and enter the tunnel. Break the second torch you come to for a Sapphire. - Chapter 4-1: Begin the chapter and head through the first area, killing the Bui kichwa (the spider-like enemies). Head up the ladder and begin down the tunnel. When you reach the second torch of the tunnel, stop and kill any Bui kichwa, and then break the torch for a Sapphire. - Chapter 4-1: After the event in the second area when you are separated from your partner by the broken bridge, proceed on to become reunited. Just before you are reunited, you'll see two rooms. The one on the left contains a sarcophagus. Go get your partner and return to open it for lots of treasure, including a Sapphire (Square). - Chapter 4-1: When you reach the statue pulling puzzle room, pull the first statue. It will retract, revealing a Sapphire. - Chapter 4-2: In the sun laser of doom room, head up the eastern hallway that has all the alcoves on the east side. In the second one from the south, there's a torch that you can break for a Sapphire. _____________________________________________________________________________ 24. EMERALD (SQUARE) - Value: 1,000 - Description: A dark-green, square-cut gem. Locations: - Chapter 2-1: Head through the chapter until you reach the docks area. Locate the house you need to enter (marked on your map; it's the one with the Port Key in it), but don't go in. Head to the southern side of the house and climb the ladder to the roof. Run north to the north- east corner of the roof to pick up an Emerald. - Chapter 4-1: Reach the statue pulling puzzle room and proceed until you pull the second statue. It will retract, revealing an Emerald. _____________________________________________________________________________ 25. DIAMOND (SQUARE) - Value: 2,000 - Description: A colorless, square-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 2-2: Proceed all the way through the chapter until you reach the canyon area. Proceed past the gatling gun, up the ladder, and then down some ledges, killing the Majini the entire time. It's recommended that you actually kill them all before getting the Diamond. Anyway, after you jump down those aforementioned cliffs (and get the checkpoint), you'll come across a broken ladder that you can boost your partner up. Head all the way up the switchbacks until you're ABOVE the ledge you could have boosted your partner to, and drop down. Now turn around and aim at the wall, where you'll see the Diamond. See, it was a good idea to kill all the enemies, right? _____________________________________________________________________________ 26. TOPAZ (OVAL) - Value: 2,000 - Description: A pale-yellow, oval-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 6-1: There are three Topazes to collect here, and all of them are quite counterintuitive, though you are awarded for planning well. Allow me to explain. None of the Topazes yet exist, so we need to get three specific enemies to drop them. When you begin the chapter, don't move anywhere. Face south and walk to the railing. Sidestep left until you see a Majini covered by a pillar. Snipe him in the head to kill him. This drops one of the Topazes, which you can collect later. Now begin heading through the chapter. First drop down, head up two flights of stairs, and then a ladder. From this platform, climb another ladder to a crow's nest type of platform. Kill the Majini up here, take out a rifle, and aim south to the top of the large crane that runs perpendicular to the boat. There are two Majini up here. Snipe both of them before proceeding. If you want to collect all three Topazes, you must not kill the Majini to the lower right (by the crane controls), or the trap will never trigger and you will lose access to the area that contains the first Topaz (since you won't get the Keycard). Now, proceed until Sheva is trapped under the cage. Kill the Majini until one drops the Keycard. Head back to the locked door, open it, and head up the steps. Turn right at the top of the steps where you killed that first Majini way back at the beginning of the level. The first Topaz should be here. Continue with the chapter, freeing your partner from the trap. When you are reunited, climb the ladder behind the trap and turn left. Another Topaz should be on the ground by the Green Herb. Finally, the last Topaz should be sitting in the pit a little further on (the pit that you are ambushed in by two Big Man Majinis). It's possible that the Topazes disappear after a certain amount of time, as I've crawled through the level setting up all three Topazes, and only gotten one. Best just do it as fast as possible. _____________________________________________________________________________ 27. RUBY (OVAL) - Value: 2,000 - Description: A red, oval-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 4-1: Proceed through the statue pulling puzzle room. Pull the final statue and check underneath it after it retracts for the Ruby. _____________________________________________________________________________ 28. SAPPHIRE (OVAL) - Value: 2,000 - Description: A deep-blue, oval-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 5-3: When the fight with Wesker begins, head to the right and inspect the door. Wesker will throw you through it. Head up the steps after and head to the northwest corner of the second floor. As soon as you enter the northwest room, turn right and smash the small pot on the wall for a Sapphire. _____________________________________________________________________________ 29. EMERALD (OVAL) - Value: 2,000 - Description: A dark-green, oval-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 5-3: When the fight with Wesker begins, head to the right and inspect the door. Wesker will throw you through it. Head up the steps after and continue to call Sheva after you. Head around to the western room on the second floor where you'll find a sarcophagus. Have Sheva help you open it. One of the treasures inside is the Emerald. _____________________________________________________________________________ 30. DIAMOND (OVAL) - Value: 4,000 - Description: A colorless, oval-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 2-2: Head through the darkened mines until you are almost at the lighted area with the crank (the one that requires teamwork). Just before you reach this area, hug the left wall in search of a hidden tunnel. There's a chest here with the Diamond. _____________________________________________________________________________ 31. TOPAZ (TRILLIANT) - Value: 2,000 - Description: A pale-yellow, trilliant-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 4-1: Begin the chapter and head into the cave. Ignore the ladder on your right and continue to the dead end. Hop up the ledge to the left of the vase to find a chest with the Topaz. _____________________________________________________________________________ 32. RUBY (TRILLIANT) - Value: 2,000 - Description: A red, trilliant-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 4-1: After falling victim to the sarcophagus trap (in which you and your partner are dumped through a trap door and required to Land during the cutscene), you will be in a cross shaped area. The chest in the northern passageway contains the Ruby. _____________________________________________________________________________ 33. SAPPHIRE (TRILLIANT) - Value: 2,000 - Description: A deep-blue, trilliant-cut gem. The chest in the eastern passageway contains the Sapphire. _____________________________________________________________________________ 34. EMERALD (TRILLIANT) - Value: 2,000 - Description: A dark-green, trilliant-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 4-1: After falling victim to the sarcophagus trap (in which you and your partner are dumped through a trap door and required to Land during the cutscene), you will be in a cross shaped area. The chest in the western passageway contains the Emerald. _____________________________________________________________________________ 35. DIAMOND (TRILLIANT) - Value: 4,000 - Description: A colorless, trilliant-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 4-2: After inserting all three emblems into their slots in the laser death room, start heading towards the exit while keeping your eyes peeled above you. You should see the Diamond glimmering in the ceiling. Shoot it out to obtain it. _____________________________________________________________________________ 36. TOPAZ (BRILLIANT) - Value: 2,500 - Description: A pale-yellow, brilliant-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 5-3: After lowering the bridge in the Licker infested room (right before the boss room), head across the bridge, keeping your eyes peeled above you. You should see the Topaz glimmering in the ceiling. Shoot it out to obtain it. _____________________________________________________________________________ 37. RUBY (BRILLIANT) - Value: 2,500 - Description: A red, brilliant-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 5-3: When you first enter the Licker infested room (the room before the boss room, where you must lower the bridge), head through the remainder of the tunnel and look up. You should see the Ruby in the tunnel roof. This is easily missable. Shoot it to get it down. _____________________________________________________________________________ 38. SAPPHIRE (BRILLIANT) - Value: 2,500 - Description: A deep-blue, brilliant-cut gem. One of the treasures inside is the Sapphire. _____________________________________________________________________________ 39. EMERALD (BRILLIANT) - Value: 2,500 - Description: A dark-green, brilliant-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 5-3: Any time during the Wesker or Jill fight, head up the eastern stairs from the ground floor main room. Head down the eastern balcony and smash the left pot for the Emerald. _____________________________________________________________________________ 40. DIAMOND (BRILLIANT) - Value: 4,500 - Description: A colorless, brilliant-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 2-2: Reach the canyon area. Approach the gatling gun after clearing out any enemies. From there, turn left (southish) and hop onto the ledge here. There's a chest on the other end of this small ledge with the Diamond in it. _____________________________________________________________________________ 41. TOPAZ (MARQUISE) - Value: 3,000 - Description: A pale-yellow, marquise-cut gem. Location: o Chapter 1-1: After killing your first Majini, jump out the window and proceed until you are attacked by a HUGE group of Majini. Ignore Sheva and her whining and tough out the battle (recommended when you have infinite ammo). After killing several dozens of the encroaching Majini, one will finally drop a Topaz. _____________________________________________________________________________ 42. RUBY (MARQUISE) - Value: 3,000 - Description: A red, marquise-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 2-1: Head through the level until you reach the area with the docks and the merchant stands. In the middle of the area, in front of the building that you can grab the Port Key in, is a square setup of stands. Slash the nearby pile of fruit for a Hand Grenade if you don't have one, and throw it at the stands in the square formation. At least one of them should collapse, allowing you access to the middle where you can grab the Ruby from the chest. _____________________________________________________________________________ 43. SAPPHIRE (MARQUISE) - Value: 3,000 - Description: A deep-blue, marquise-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 5-3: When the chapter starts, head north through the door that opens during the cutscene. Climb the ladder and head west to the room that Excella accosted you from the previous chapter. There's a safe in here that contains the Sapphire. _____________________________________________________________________________ 44. EMERALD (MARQUISE) - Value: 3,000 - Description: A dark-green, marquise-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 3-3: During the more involved battle to open the second gate, kill the two Majini at the gatling guns and head up there. There's a house that separates the two gatling guns. Head inside and check a drawer in here for the Emerald. _____________________________________________________________________________ 45. DIAMOND (MARQUISE) - Value: 5,000 - Description: A colorless, marquise-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 6-3: This is not a pretty treasure to get. You have to reach the very final battle of the game. As the battle starts, Sheva calls for you to fall back. Run to the land bridge that causes you to fall and become split up with Sheva, but DO NOT cross it. Instead, aim in front of you and shoot the right, lighter-colored side of the stone arch that Sheva is about to run under. It should collapse. Now try crossing, and Chris will fall as normal. When you regain control of him, don't jump across the gap, and instead turn left. Run to the makeshift rock bridge you created and jump across to collect the Diamond. If you are having trouble staying alive after making this detour, just pause and quit the game, and save when it asks. You'll still have the Diamond. _____________________________________________________________________________ 46. POWER STONE - Value: 5,000 - Description: A pale-yellow, heart-cut gem. Locations: - Dropped by Reapers when you kill them. These guys are annoying, tough to damage, and can kill you in one hit if they get too close. Shoot them in the white bubbly tumors when they are exposed to damage them (at which point, they don't actually take too long to kill), and stay the hell away from them. - Chapter 5-2: You'll automatically encounter the only Reaper in this chapter just before the Dead Bride Necklace conveyor belt. - Chapter 5-3: In the first large area of the chapter, there are three potential chances that you will be attacked by Reapers, meaning you can get up to three Power Stones. - Chapter 6-3: After opening the second bulkhead door, two Reapers will attack at the same time (which, incidentally, sucks). _____________________________________________________________________________ 47. LION HEART - Value: 2,500 - Description: A red, heart-cut gem. Locations: - Sometimes dropped by Lickers when you kill them. Lickers are tough, but they are easily stunned with shotguns and magnums. Also, if you can knock them back / knock them off the walls or ceiling, you can stab them in the heart, which instantly kills them. - Chapter 5-1: You'll eventually reach a point in the chapter where you'll fight a crap ton of Lickers. You'll get about four Lion Hearts if you kill them all. - Chapter 5-2: There's a long hallway that you'll have to fight your way through during this chapter. All the enemies are Lickers. You'll get around five Lion Hearts for killing all of them. - Chapter 5-3: In the room before the boss room where you must lower the bridge, have Sheva operate the lift so that you are on the upper cat- walk. There are about a dozen Lickers that spawn here, and you'll get about five Lion Hearts from them. - It's possible my numbers aren't correct. If anyone has more exact info regarding the drop tables for the Lickers, I would appreciate it. _____________________________________________________________________________ 48. BLUE ENIGMA - Value: 3,000 - Description: A deep-blue, heart-cut gem. Locations: - Dropped by Giant Majinis (the really tall ones with masks). Stay a safe distance from them and kill them with death. - Chapter 3-1: Two of these will attack you while you're exploring the the village. You can't miss them. - Chapter 4-2: You will be attacked by a Giant Majini after collecting the Sea Emblem and also after Sheva collects the Sky Emblem. _____________________________________________________________________________ 49. SOUL GEM - Value: 10,000 - Description: A dark-green, heart-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 4-1: After pulling the final statue in the statue pulling puzzle room, you'll be attacked by Popokarimu. Kill it by shooting it in the soft underside (don't run to the second floor or you won't get the gem), and he'll drop the Soul Gem. _____________________________________________________________________________ 50. HEART OF AFRICA - Value: 10,000 - Description: A colorless, heart-cut gem. Location: - Chapter 5-3: Wesker will mention that he only has seven minutes to fight with you at the beginning of the battle. If you damage him enough before this seven minutes is up, you'll be able to access this gem. To prepare, grab a Rocket Launcher from Chapter 3-1's sunken ship and save and quit. Bring it along when you start Chapter 5-3. When the fight with Wesker begins, run to the right and examine the door. Wesker will throw Chris through it. Run upstairs until Wesker starts wondering where you are ("There's no point in hiding," etc.). Watch his arrow on the mini map, equip your rocket launcher, and wait for him to come into your line of sight (the farther away he is when he is visible, the better). It also helps if you press X to lean against a wall out of sight. If, at any point, Wesker says, "Ah, there you are!" try to find a new hiding place. Anyway, once you've set up the aforementioned scenario, shoot him with the rocket. If you do it correctly, he should be holding on to the rocket, comically trying to get it away from his face. Shoot it to blow it up. This should automatically make him keel over and say, "Self- righteous fools!" At this point, to be safe, empty a few magnum rounds into him, or just run up and melee combo him (X, X, B, A, AB). Now he should run away. When the Jill fight begins, head to the bottom central area and check in between the two sets of steps where the two Green Herbs are. The Heart of Africa should be sitting here. .-----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | - 4. Static Gold Locations [GLDL] - | '-----------------------------------------------------------------------------' There aren't many of these in the game (most of the gold you'll pick up will come from enemies and breakable objects), but here's the list for ya anyway. CHAPTER 1-2 ----------- - In the first area, Sheva will run off. Follow her until she stops by the door. Drop down into the water next to her and break the barrel down here for N 400 in gold. - Head through the chapter until you reach the Antique Clock house (it's the house right before you kick down the door and activate the cutscene with the woman). Enter through the ground floor blue door on the south side, as all the other ones will be locked. There are a couple piles of gold on the counter in the eastern room of the first floor, worth N 100 and N 400. - When you reach the site of the Alpha Team devastation, head to the top floor where you can jump across a gap to a chest with gold worth N 1,000. CHAPTER 2-1 ----------- - From the room you begin in, head to the northeastern corner where you'll see a ladder leading up to a shipping container. Head west to a chest that contains N 1,000 in gold. - When you reach the docks area, you'll have the chance to frolic in the ocean for a bit. While you're in here, search underwater for some gold. There's a pile to the south, by a canoe, and there's a pile in the middle, between two sets of wooden poles. Both are worth N 100. - A bit later on, you'll get the Port Key. Open the locked door with it, proceed down the dock, and head across the deck of the ship to another dock. Jump off the side of this dock and check underneath it, below the surface of the water, for some gold worth N 400. - Defeat the Chainsaw Majini, loot the Guard's Key, unlock the door with it, and open the chest. The gold in here is worth N 3,000. CHAPTER 2-2 ----------- - Head into the train depot and climb to the tops of the trains. On the right- most train (southwestern most), at the end, is a box of gold worth N 400. - After the short mine cart ride before the mines section, hop out and run back down the tracks. On your left will be another N 400 worth of gold. CHAPTER 3-1 ----------- - After lowering the bridge in the final area, head across and then up the steps (or just through the door next to the crank). There's some gold up here worth N 400. CHAPTER 3-2 ----------- - When you reach the area with the Tricell tents, check the grass patches for piles of gold worth N 60, N 90, and N 70. - After the countdown begins near the end of the chapter, head the opposite way you are supposed to be going (down the pier towards the ocean), and you will find a suitcase with N 3,000 worth of gold. CHAPTER 4-1 ----------- - Shortly into the second room (the ruins), you'll come across a sarcophagus. Open it with Sheva for gold totaling N 900. - When you are separated shortly after, fight your way back up to Sheva. You will pass a room with a sarcophagus on the way. Once you are reunited with your partner, return to the sarcophagus, which contains N 700 in gold. CHAPTER 5-1 ----------- - After your first encounter with the Lickers, proceed onward, looking for a side room on the right, before you head up the stairs. There's a safe in the corner that can be opened for N 3,000 in gold. CHAPTER 6-1 ----------- - Get yourself trapped by the crane trap, and proceed through this event. The cage that you move off your partner with the crane is now set in such a way that you can access a new area. Head up the ladder behind where the trap was sprung. You should be able to return north up the boat to a higher area where you can jump across shipping containers to a safe with N 3,000 in gold within. - After killing the two Big Man Majini in the pit and raising you and your partner up on the shipping containers, you'll eventually meet up again in a lower area where you can either head south to reach the door to the interior of the ship, or north where you can shoot a button to move a shipping container out of the way. Kill the dog that you free by doing this, and proceed north to another safe with N 3,000 of gold in it. .-----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | - 5. Chapter Breakdowns [CHPS] - | '-----------------------------------------------------------------------------' Each chapter breakdown takes into account all treasures, generally the order that you collect them, and also the static gold locations (the ones that appear 100% of the time). The Chapter total worth line just lets you know how much money you can expect to get in each chapter, minus any stray gold drops from enemies or crates, pots, and barrels. The descriptions are purposely left vague mostly for reasons of formatting, and also because of redundancy issues. If you want a better location for anything, check the above two sections of the guide. .-------------. | CHAPTER 1-1 | |-------------'-------------.--------.----------------------------------------. | | | | | [ ] Topaz (Marquise) | 3,000 | Alleyway | | [ ] Gold Ring | 5,000 | Public assembly | | | | | |---------------------------'--------|----------------------------------------' | Chapter total worth: 8,000 | '------------------------------------' .-------------. | CHAPTER 1-2 | |-------------'-------------.--------.----------------------------------------. | | | | | [ ] Gold (400) | 400 | First area; Stockpiling Treasure [STCK] - | '-----------------------------------------------------------------------------' Stockpiling treasure in Resident Evil 5 is quite necessary if you'd like to buy some of the better weapons, upgrade them, and earn some Achievements. The basic idea is that you just go into a chapter, collect a crap ton of treasure, and then save and quit. Repeat this several times for a fast way to earn money. In terms of which chapter I suggest you do this in, the choice will narrow once you ask yourself a few questions: - Do I want to deal with enemies? - Do I have infinite ammo? - Do I want to play it safe and slow? Assuming you are starting off having only beaten the game once, you could use Chapter 3-1 as a good starting point. Travel to all the islands (and the ship), collecting treasure and eggs as you go. Ignore any slates, as this will spawn enemies that you won't want to deal with. Then just save, quit, and do it all over again. Continue this method until you have enough money to either buy the Gatling Gun or upgrade something powerful, like a Magnum. If you choose the Magnum, you'll have to spend some points on unlocking its infinite ammo, so go through some chapters to rack up some points first, if you don't have enough. Alternately, if you had beaten the game in under 5 hours, you can use the infinite Rocket Launcher, which works well. Once you have some sort of infinite heavy firepower, you could pick a chapter that has a high cash yield, but you also should take into account the length of the chapter as well. However, there is a certain, extra fast awesome way to gain money (although it's quite boring). Start Chapter 5-2 and continue until you reach the long hallway with the Lickers. Kill them all, pick up their Lion Hearts, but DON'T head through the door. Instead, save and quit. When you select Continue from the title screen, you'll start back at the beginning of the hallway, ready to kill the Lickers all over again. You should be getting five Lion Hearts most runs through, and the runs themselves don't take very long. That's N 12,500 a run! As I said though, this method gets boring after a while. You'll memorize quickly which vents the Lickers come out of, and you'll get sick of Sheva shooting Chris in the back of the noggin. .-----------------------------------------------------------------------------. | - 7.
