How do you open the door towards the end of the level with knuckles? In the level finding the chaos emerald? I read another answer it didnt make any sense please explain.

In order to open the door which leads to the Chaos Emerald, you have to hit all the lights then you go back and play as Sonic. Then follow the rest of the path to clear the stage. Hope this helps you out.
