I was wondering if anyone had a way to get resurches without scaning for resorses, and if you can't, how can I go about scaning without taking an eternity.

Well, you could just suck it up and scan the planets...
You can find minerals planetside, but you won't find enough to make any serious upgrades. If you beat the game once, you'll reciever 50,000 of all materials when starting a new game, which will be all the Element Zero you'll need in the game, an a good chunk of the Iridium you need.
As for scanning faster, there's an upgrade you can research to speed it up, but other than that, as you scan, rapidly tap the left trigger. This will put you in an out of the scanner, allowing you to move faster with the cursor while still scanning all of the planet.

There is a new update which doubled the sized and doubled the speed. When you get the enhanced planet scanner upgrade makes it even faster. You need Xbox live though.
