I'd use chemical rounds. It does more damage and they disinegrate

That or high impack rounds, it keeps them down and stops them charging at you

Sledgehammer rounds can knock them down, but if you have a biotic, it's also good to have them push or lift the Krogan, leaving them wide open to attacks. When their hit points reach zero, they generally recover most of their health, so just keep shooting.
