As far as glitches go. I once played a team doubles match on epitaph that after about 3 kills between all of us. They went away.We couldn't find them anywhere I even got mad and was going to report them as modders. After time was called they were like were did you guys go.? We asked them were they were.Glitch I guess...
To answer your other question no different types of armor doesnt have any in game effect.

With the exception of mike's incedent, there is no such glitch and even so to willingly exploit said glitch would be considered cheating. And like mike said your armor ype does not affect your health.
