Well, the easiest way to get the meta game scores is to play on Normal / Heroic and enable all the skulls but iron mystic or what ever. Just really don't use Iron.
There is no universal hint I can give you on Legendary. Really, just don't be a hero. If you can be a coward and not die, do that. Fight another day and what not?

The easiest way to get the achievements are to do it on normal and activate the famine,catch,fog and tough luck gold skulls, silver skulls don't give multiplers.
The easiest way to do legendary is on xbox live with a friend, if you have xbix live, add 'shaggydog285' and i'll help you with it.

Ok I did them all bymyself, most of the time, by turning on Cowbell, IWHBYD, Grunt Birthday Party, Catch, Tough Luck, Fog and Thunderstorm.
I know the silver skulls don't add to your bonus thing.
