You will get an infinite amount of flint when reach 20 gravel. If you make a tower below your feet and mine back down you will eventually run out of gravel and will need to get more. Flint can be used to make arrows and flint and steel with an iron ingot can be mixed together to make a portal to the nether.
You need a pickaxe then what you want to do is make a new mine then mine down to level 4,5,6,7 or 10 then start mining left,right,behind and in front of your character for diamonds gold iron coal.

Get 5 ender eyes and go to the block limit and look down and to the side a bit fire your ender eys rapidly fast (may not work first time) you will glitch and be in a box that is past the block limit
First, you need a Flint and Steel. Now, find a pig and set the block under it on fire. This will light the pig on fire. When the pig dies, cooked pork chops will fall out.
You are going to need:
A dispenser
9 sets of 64 arrows
A button/lever.
Okay here is what you do:
1.place a Dispencer in the place and direction you want the arrows to shoot.
2. Place all sets of arrows into the Dispenser.
3. Place the button next to the dispenser.
4. Press the button to shoot an arrow.
(Note the arrows will go far and cause damage to any monster or person in it's way. Also you can also re use these arrows if they land on the ground so that you can reload it.)
Also for repetitive shooting, place a lever 3 blocks away from the Dispenser. (Three blocks in between).
In the middle of those three blocks place a Redstone repeater, and on the block between the lever and the repeater place Redstone dust. Also place Redstone dust between the repeater and the dispense.
Now you have an arrow shooter to protect you from enemies and monsters.

If you wanna be able to see in dark caves without any light at all, here is what you do:
Press START to go to the pause menu.
Click Help&Options.
Click Settings.
Click Graphics.
Put Gamma on 100%.

To have a temporary light for mining deep, all you have to do is HIT Redstone with your pickaxe. Do not mine it completely!!

To make a Nether portal, you will need the following:
1. Diamond Pickaxe
2. Iron Ingot
3. Flint
Step 1
Use the Diamond pickaxe to mine 16 blocks of Obsidian. (Note this may take a little bit of time since Obsidian is very durable)
Step 2
Place the 16 Obsidian blocks in a STANDING rectangle shape that is 4 blocks wide and 5 blocks tall.
Step 3
Now that you have your standing, empty rectangle of Obsidian blocks, craft the Iron Ingot you have with the piece of flint you have as well and make Flint and Steel.
Step 4
And finally, ignite the inside of your Obsidian rectangle with your Flint and Steel and wollah! You have a Nether Portal and the Nether Portal achievement. To go to the Nether, you must stand inside the rectangle for atleast 5 to 7 seconds.

To make a bridge without falling off you can crouch. If you crouch over the edge of the object you will not fall off of the object. Most useful in the Nether.

As far as I know this is only available for the summer of 2012.
If you go to the summer deals option thing on the dashboard you can scroll through it and it should say Summer of Arcade. And with that it should also say free SOA Minecraft Skin Pack.

You can get snowballs by using a shovel to mine snow covered ground. For fun you can also hurl the snowballs at things.
Well here is what I recommend that you do! I recommend that first you play on peaceful make all the weapons you want and all the protected shelters that you want. Then sleep in your bed. Then save the game. Then change the game to easy, and therefore you will spawn in one of your shelters and then destroy zombies... (Also don't forget to make armor)
Here are a few seeds you can use to play in.
Glacier - You will spawn at the edge of the desert biome. Look around and you will see mountains.
Abc - you will spawn by water. Go the opposite way, then left and a gravity defying island will be there.
Have trouble. Just scribble your complaint in the comments. Glacier is capitalized and abc is not.
If you are aiming to ting diamond and make diamond things I would RECOMMEND you search near the bottom. Once you hit the unbreakable Bedrock I would suggest you start making a home-made mine or maybe even a home so you could mine when ever you want. Diamond and a bunch of other material is found near the bottom boundaries. Also IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU FIND LOTS OF IRON FIRT TO MINE DIAMOND.
Instead of heading to the village forward from your first spawn point, head to the left. You'll find a different village with a house with a Netherrack burning. There is also a house (Might be the same one) that has a chest (I forget what was in it or if there was one). There is a farm are with wheat growing as well. If you keep going farther left from the spawn point, you'll find a mine. Guess whats in it right at the entrance? DIAMONDS.
*THIS WORKS ON THE TRIAL BECAUSE it's ONE AREA, I DON'T HAVE THE FULL VERSION SO I DON'T KNOW IF YOU CAN GET TO THE TRIAL AREA IN THE FULL VERSION*
Well, you can! These creatures are called Snow Golems. AKA "Snowmans." Here is how you can easily make one.
1. If you have 1 pumpkin and 2 snow blocks, place a snow block anywhere, and place another one on top of it.
2. After placing the two snow blocks, add the pumpkin on the top.
And then you've just made a Snow Golem/Snowman.
