How do you change the people you fight with? I really need to know?

You need to press the white button then chose the person you want to use.

I haven't been on it in ages. I think it's either black or white.

To change the characters that you fight with get into a battle and then wait for it to get to the character that you want to change. Then press the white button and then choose the character that you want to put into the party. If you do this outside of battle you wont change the character in the party, but you well change the character the character that you are traveling as. Hope this helps.

If you mean bringing a soldier in your party into battle, for xbox it's the white button or the black button, for xbox 360, it's the left button, for playstation 2 it's L1. That will bring another character from your party into battle, but only if it's one of your character's turn. Other that that it's mainly the computer that decides whoes turn it is. Things like hasten party member will make a carhacter move more often, but... Does that do it for you?
