Klingon Gameplay

In STO, Klingon gameplay is currently locked when you start. All you have to do is reach level 25 on a Federation Account. Free to play members will have to buy a character slot before being able to play the KDF.
The KDF, acronym for Klingon Defense Force, is one of the main antagonists in the game, having abandoned the Khitomer accord and waging a war against the Federation. As a KDF officer, you start at level 22 instead of 1, and have to go through a rather lengthy tutorial of Qonos first city. Afterwards you're immediately granted commission of a tier III Bird of Prey and can do episodes like Federation gameplay.
KDF episodes, however, only feature two unique chapters. The Federation War and the Return of the Fek'lyr. The others that follow are the featured episode series that pretty much follow the exact same path as the Federation, as late game the Klingons and Federation join sides again.
KDF gameplay is not too different than Federation. The species you can choose from default are different, and the currently only buyable one, the Ferasans, are fiercer looking cousins of the Caitians. KDF features the Gorn, Lethean, Nausican, Orion, and a few other species, or just create the fully customizable Alien.
Even though the KDF are at war with the Federation, still the only way to battle other Federation players is via PvP or Player vs Player. In STF's, or the late game Special Task Force missions, Fed and KDF fight side-by-side. In sector space you can gain Marauding level to go into Federation space, but cannot go to Earth or attack Federation players.
