You will only get rank ups from leaders and Hastings. When you reach ranks 4, 7, and 10, the amount of Pokemon friends you can have with you will increase by one. When you reach ranks 3, 5, 7, and 9, the partner gauge under the styler power bar will increase by one. When you start, you can use water, grass, fire, and electric poke assists. At rank 2, you can use fighting assists. At rank 3, you can use poison and psychic assists. At rank 4, you can use bug and ground assists. At rank 5, you can use rock assists. At rank 6, you can use flying assists. At rank 7, you can use Dark and ghost assists. At rank 8, you can use ice assists.
