Introduction | |=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-| The newest Paper Mario game came out in early May of this year for the Nintendo Wii, and I must say, it's quite good. To get my opinion on the game, please check out my review, posted on GameFAQs. Anyway, Nintendo decided to try something new with this game, and decided instead of just an RPG where you do the same thing over and over, you'd be playing a game with both RPG elements and elements from the old Mario games like Super Mario Bros. I did not like this at first, I must admit, but I liked it once I tried it. If you are looking for one of the better games for the Wii, this one is definitely for you, and I recommend trying it asap! Go, go! |=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-| | 2. Version History | |=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-| Version 1.0 / Completed the guide. |=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-| | 3. Storyline | |=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-| Since I'm too lazy to post it here, just watch the opening of the game to see for yourself what the story of this game is. I may add the story to this section eventually, but as of right now, I have no intentions to. |=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-| | 4. Characters | |=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-| Mario: The main character of the game, Mario is one of the four heroes to stop the Dark Prognosticus unleashed by Count Bleck from coming true. As always, Mario meets many companions to help him stop Bleck, and he has his uncanny ability to jump on his foes. Mario's jump is more controlled in this game than Luigi's is. Princess Toadstool: Toadstool is, surprisingly, not the typical damsel in distress in Super Paper Mario. She eventually joins Mario to stop the Dark Prognosticus from coming true. She is one of the four heroes prophesied to stop Count Bleck. Peach has the ability to use her umbrella to protect her back, or to fly. Bowser: It's been a long time since Bowser joined Mario in an adventure. So long, in fact, that it's been since Super Mario RPG. Bowser is found by Mario in the third chapter, and joins you when Mario and Peach convince him that he needs to stop the Dark Prognosticus from happening or he'll have no worlds to conquer. Bowser joins because he wants to help himself, simply put. He's one of the four heroes. Bowser has the ability to shoot fire from his mouth, which can be quite useful. He also has extreme power, and is quite useful in boss fights. Luigi: Luigi is the final party member you get in this game. For once, we actually get to PLAY with Luigi in a Mario game. Luigi is one of the four heroes in this game prophesied to stop the Dark Prognosticus Count Bleck unleashed. Luigi has the ability to jump very high, but his jump is less controlled than Mario's is. Tippi: Tippi is a Pixl in the form of a butterfly. Tippi lost her memory, and seems to have forgotten who she really is. Later on in the game, however, it is revealed that Tippi is actually Timpani, Count Bleck's former lover. The two of them were separated from each other, and Timpani was supposedly killed. Bleck unleashed the Dark Prognosticus to destroy all worlds as a way to get revenge on those who killed her. As Tippi, she plays a vital role in the story of the game. Merlon: Merlon is the wise old guru of Flipside. He gives you hints on what to do, and you have to see him after each chapter. Your typical geezer. Nolrem: Nolrem is basically a carbon copy of Merlon. He lives in Flopside, and helps to guide you when you get there. He's useless compared to our good old friend Merlon, but his name does have one interesting feature to it: it's Merlon spelled backwards. Neat, huh? :D Count Bleck: Count Bleck is the main villain of this game. Count Bleck's real name is Blumiere, but he lost that name upon releasing the Dark Prognosticus. Bleck is evil, and he became so by releashing the Dark Prognosticus. Bleck released it in order to destroy all worlds, as foretold by the prophecy in that book, as a way to get revenge on those who killed his lover, Timpani. Bleck has several minions, one of which betrays him in the end. Bleck and Timpani eventually reunite, and live happily ever after. How touching. O'Chunks: O'Chunks is Count Bleck's assistant. He is large, muscular, and uses brute force instead of brains, which is probably why he loses every single time he runs into your group. Actually, I think we're just cool like that, so beating him up is no problem. ;) Mimi: Mimi is another one of Count Bleck's assistants. She is a shapeshifter, and she fights you three times throughout the game. She gets bored easy, but seems to be very loyal to Bleck. Dimentio: Dimentio is one of Count Bleck's minions. He is evil, but likes to have fun with his foes before destroying them. In the end, Dimentio betrays Bleck, but he is saved by Nastasia, who takes the hit for him. Nastasia: Nastasia is the final minion of Count Bleck. Nastasia wears glasses, and talks in a weird way. She is very loyal to Count Bleck, possibly as loyal as O'Chunks. In the final battle of the game, she takes the hit that Dimentio sends at Count Bleck for him, saving him from death. She has hypnotic powers as well. |=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-| | 5. Game Basics | |=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-| This section will list the basics of Super Paper Mario. Battle System ------------- First things first. I'll explain the battle system of Super Paper Mario. The game has no real "battle system" to speak of, because this isn't a game with solely an RPG element. Instead of fighting enemies via a turn-based battle system, you walk around freely and fight the enemies like that. That's where the Super Mario Bros element comes into play. You can stomp on the enemies whenever you want to, and you don't have to worry about turns limiting your options. Anything goes, basically. You fight this way the entire game, with the exception of one easy boss very late in the game, where you fight via a turn-based battle system. This game is a side-scroller, so the screen moves as you move, meaning you can leave any enemies you want to behind and just continue pressing on. This is not good though, since enemies help you gain levels, as do bosses. More on that below. Leveling Up ----------- Leveling up in Super Paper Mario is essential to completing the game. To gain levels, you need Score. The more Score you get, the more levels you will gain. Each time you level up, press + to bring up the menu, where you can see how much Score you need to reach the next level. Each time you level up, your HP goes up, and you damage the enemies more. Because of this, leveling up is a vital part in this game, as it is in all RPGs, games like this or otherwise. Score ----- There isn't much to say about Score, other than everytime you kill an enemy and/or boss, you gain a certain amount of Score, depending on the difficulty of the enemy and/or boss. Some enemies give you very low Score, while others give you quite a hefty amount. This is something you'll want to keep track on the entire game, since when you get a certain amount of Score, as said above, you level up. Blocks ------ Throughout the game, you'll encounter blocks that float above you. They are just begging to be hit. Jump on them to get items or coins out of them, and sometimes, if you're lucky, a ladder will pop out of some blocks. Sometimes blocks trigger switches as well, which are needed to progress further through the game. Finally, some blocks are required to complete puzzles, but the block puzzles in this game, thankfully, aren't that difficult. Whenever you see a block, hit said block. They hold wonders unknown to ordinary men. >_> Finally, some blocks don't contain anything at all. Switches -------- Throughout the game, you'll encounter switches. Some will be blue switches, some will be red. They usually have a "!" symbol on them, but not always. The blue blocks usually only require one jump or hammer strike and then they work wonders and allow to progress. The red ones, however, sometimes require some thinking to make them work their wonders. Meaning, you'll have to use your brain (or this FAQ, you know you want to) to figure out what to do with the red block. What I mean is sometimes you'll have to hit the red switch with something other than a jump or hammer strike. Switches are found quite often in the game and are mandatory to progress further. Pipes ----- Throughout the game, you'll encounter pipes. They come in different colors, but all of them serve the same purpose: instantaneous travel. A lot of pipes won't allow you to go down them, but some will. When you go down pipes, as I said, some godlike magic will occur and transport you instantly to another location. Think "Instant Transmission" if you are a Dragon Ball Z fan. Because of the awesomeness of pipes, you should try and go down each one. Game Over --------- This occurs when your HP reaches 0. Because of this, you should always keep an eye on your HP, and heal with items when necessary. Inn's also heal your HP. HP -- HP stands for Hit Points, as I'm sure everyone, even those living under rocks, realize by now. Your HP gradually goes up as you gain levels, and the more HP you have, the more likely you are to survive. When your HP gets down to 0, you get a Game Over, as I said above. Always, ALWAYS, watch your HP and heal it via an Inn or item when necessary. Enemies and bosses also have HP, and when theirs reaches 0, they die. Save Points ----------- Throughout the game, you'll encounter Save Points. Save Points are identified as blocks with the letter S in the middle of them. Hit them and then say yes when asked if you want to save your game. After you do this, you'll save your game. Use Save Points whenever you encounter them, as an unexpected enemy or boss may give you a Game Over, and Save Points allow you to continue from where you last saved. |=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-| | 7. Walkthrough | |=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-| Here is a complete walkthrough for this from beginning to end. The game starts with Mario and Luigi in their home. They babble about useless junk. Actually, they babble about how the day is too peaceful, and they want some excitement. Seeing as how fate is cruel, the two heroes get what they want, as Toad says that Princess Toadstool has been kidnapped from the Mushroom Kingdom (not surprising, I know, but Nintendo had to think of something). As usual, Mario and Luigi are sent off to rescue the princess, and thus your adventure begins. The scene then switches to Bowser's Castle, where Mario and Luigi accuse Bowser of kidnapping Princess Peach. As it turns out, Bowser did not kidnap Peach, but rather, Count Bleck, the main villain of this game, did. I won't spoil anymore here, but will just tell you that you will get a Pixl named Tippi at your side after the scene in the castle is over. Once Tippi joins you, the scene will switch to the town of Flipside, where you will spend quite a bunch of your time in this game. Flipside -------- Once in Flipside, you'll meet an old man named Merlon. Merlon tells you about the Dark Prognosticus, and about how all worlds are doomed unless Count Bleck is stopped. I think the guy's a phoney, but we'll be stuck with his blundering for the rest of the game. Thankfully, he doesn't join your party. Anyway, once Merlon asks you if you will save the world, then tell him yes. If you tell him no three times, you'll get a Game Over. When the scene ends and you gain control, head west and press Up on the D-Pad to enter the elevator. You'll be taken down to a floor below the Flipside Tower. Follow Tippi east go down the elevator. Finally, follow Tippi west to a Heart Pillar. Place the Pure Heart in it by pressing Up. After you do that, Tippi tells you to go back to Merlon, so do so by going east, down the elevator, then head west in the area you come to. Save your game at the Save Point, then go up the elevator to reach Flipside Tower again. Once there, Merlon will give you a Return Pipe and tell you to seek out his friend who is supposed to give you a dimensional power. Whatever. Go through the read door to begin Chapter 1. After a short scene in Castle Bleck, that is... Castle Bleck ------------ Once here, a rather lengthy scene will commence between Count Bleck and his minions. O'Chunks, one of Bleck's minions, goes over to stop the hero (you) from advancing further in his quest to stop Count Bleck. Looks like we have an enemy on our hands already, doesn't it? Interesting... Chapter 1-1 ----------- When you arrive in the first part of the first chapter, Tippi will talk for a minute, then explain her ability to give you information on things. She even tells you how to use it. How nice. Anyway, from the start, head east and take out the Goomba with a jump. Then, hit the nearby blocks, as one of them has a Mushroom in it, which not only gives you Score, but also heals your HP up by 10. Nifty. Keep going and when you come across a pink enemy near a pipe, go down the pipe using Down on the D-Pad. You'll emerge into a room with a chest atop a ledge above you. Jump on the ledge and open the chest to get a Shroom Shake. Now head through the pipe to the east to exit this area. Back outside, defeat the nearby enemy, then keep going until you reach a Save Point and a brown door. Save, then go through the door. Inside, use Tippi's information ability on the center of the wall to reveal a hidden door. Go through it. Inside, you'll find Bestovious, the guy Merlon wanted us to find. After some pointless chatter, Bestovious grants you the power to flip between dimensions, meaning you can go into 2D or 3D mode. Sweet. When you have gained control again, flip into 3D and grab the Shroom Shake and Shell Shock items, then flip back into 2D and leave. Oh, and if you are wondering what to say to Bestovious when he asks you if you will pay the fee to learn it, just tell him no three times and you won't have to pay a thing. Once you exit and are back outside, flip into 3D mode and break the nearby blocks. They contain coins and mini 8-bit Mario's, respectively. After that, jump atop the Save Point, then jump onto the house. Once there, jump up when you reach the middle of the roof to reveal a hidden block that contains a Squigley Card. Once you get that, get off the roof and backtrack to the west, and if you are in 3D mode, you will see a trail of coins below the ledge leading to Bestovious's house. Grab them and continue backtracking. You'll come across a star door surrounded by a brown frame-like thing. Flip into 3D mode and go through the door. In the subsequent area, use the Koopa Troopa's shell (jump on it first) and toss it at the enemies, then chase after it to ensure you get all the experience from all the enemies. You'll get more experience than you normally would if you killed them one by one. Aren't I the nicest guy to tell you things like this? Be careful, since if the shell hits you, you lose HP. Anyway, after killing the enemies, flip into 3D when you reach a long pipe. Behind the pipe is a Goomba Card. Take it and continue on, flipping back to 2D mode once you pass the pipes. Keep going, killing the enemies you come across. Try and kill multiple enemies with one jump if you can, as it gives more experience. Break the blocks along the way, being sure to grab the Mushroom one of them contains. Keep going and get the Flower one of the next blocks contain. Flowers drop coins from the sky for a limited amount of time. The small coins are worth one, but the big coins are worth three coins. Once the Flower has stopped dropping coins, continue on, flipping into 3D when you come to a cliff. Notice how you can walk across the mountain to your left? Good, do so. Once you reach the other side, keep going, killing all the enemies you come across. Go through the star door when you come to it. In this next area, you will eventually come across a sign and a spring below a ledge above you. At this point, switch to 3D and then break the nearby block to unleash more mini 8-bit Mario's. With that done, keep going, killing all the enemies and breaking the blocks, still in 3D mode. You can use the 8-bit Mario's to help you have an easier time with the huge swarm of enemies. This can get you a lot of experience, so I recommend doing it. Once you pass the enemies, return to 2D mode and keep going. You'll eventually reach a star door. Go through it. In the following area, keep going, ignoring the pipes and jumping over the Piranha Plants inside them. You'll eventually come across a block. Hit it to get a Star, which will make you temporarily invincible. You can run straight through all enemies and objects and demolish them all, all the while gaining some Score. Nice. Once the Star wears off, keep going east, defeating any remaining enemies. You'll come to a clear block with a star in the middle very shortly. Break it to reach Chapter 1-2. Before you do though, you may wanna go into 3D mode and grab the nearby enemy card. Chapter 1-2 ----------- When you arrive in Chapter 1-2, just kill all of the Koopa Troopas in this area. It's that simple. Watch out for the winged Koopa Troopas though, since they may surprise you if you aren't careful. Once all the enemies on the bottom area have been dispatched, jump atop the platforms to reach a higher level. Kill the nearby Koopa Troopa, then stand beneath the moving rectangular lines, and let one grab you. Then just simply don't move and wait until it brings you to the other side. Once at the other side, flip into 3D and step on the nearby blue "!" switch. This will cause a series of platforms to appear. Go back to 2D, jump atop the platforms, then stand beneath the rectangular lines and let one grab you, then let them carry you across to the other side. When you reach a star door, go through it. You'll be in a new area. Once here, jump across the cliff, take out the trash, I mean the Koopa Troopa, then keep going until you reach what looks to be a dead end. At this point, flip into 3D. Break the four blocks, then jump on them and jump atop the next two platforms above you, then stay in 3D and jump on top of the blocks, breaking them if you wish, although it isn't really all that useful to do so. From the blocks, stay in 3D (though be careful, since if your meter goes down on 3D, you lose 1 HP; switch to 2D to regain energy) and then jump atop the makeshift bridge floating above you to your left. Once on that, kill the two Koopa Troopas, one of which is a flying one. Then, keep going until you reach another makeshift bridge. Cross that one and make your way to the other side. At the other side, you'll be on a hill with rolling spiked enemies. Switch immediately to 3D mode so that way, you can see where they are coming from and avoid them. After making your way up the hill, go through the star door to reach the next area. Here, go down the pipe you come across, seeing as there is nothing else to do here (for now). You'll be taken to the background of the area. Head left and enter the house. Once inside, go up the stairs, then jump to the platform to the east. You'll see what looks like sweat coming out of the wall to the left. Flip into 3D and you'll find this is actually a guy named Red. Apparently, he got stuck in another dimension when he rolled out of bed the wrong way a few days ago. Whatever. Anyway, upon flpping into 3D, talk to Red and he'll jabber about absolutely nothing, then ask you a question. Answer "Red" to his question, and he will repair the bridge outside for us, allowing us to progress further. With that done, exit his house, go back east and down the pipe, then once in the foreground again, head east and cross the newly formed bridge to reach a Save Point. Save your game, then enter the town. Once inside the town, go into the Item Shop buy at least one Shroom Shake. You could buy a Life Shroom instead of a Shroom Shake if you'd like, but they cost 50 coins, and the upcoming boss is hardly worth wasting that kind of money. After that, keep going through the town and once you see four bricks, flip into 3D to find a pipe behind them. Go down it. You'll emerge in an area with coins. Before grabbing any of them, however, flip to 3D mode and collect two more sets of coins that appear on each side of the first set. Once you collect them, go back through the pipe to emerge in the town again. Back in town, keep going and enter the house before the last one. Inside, you'll see a fence by the wall. Looks suspicious doesn't it? Like some 3 year-old hiding because he has broken the household rules. Flip into 3D and go down the pipe behind the fence to reach an underground area. This area contains many Thwomps. To get past them, flip into 3D and simply make your way through the room until you reach the star door up ahead. At that point, go back into 2D and enter the door. You'll arrive in what appears to be an empty room. This is not so. Use Tippi's information ability on the star located on the right side of the wall to reveal a hidden door. Go through it and inside, open the big chest to get a Pixl, namely Thoreau. He has the ability to throw objects and enemies. Cool beans! Once Thoreau is obtained, we must unlock the door so we can get outta here. In order to do that, go behind the east side of the chest and use Thoreau to grab the block. Then, go back to the entrance of the room. Slightly to the left of the entrance is a blue "!" switch floating high atop in the air, easily out of your reach. Luckily, with the help of our new Pixl friend Thoreau, we can get hit it. Stand back a few steps east of the switch, then jump as high as you can and then throw the block at the switch. When you hit the switch, the door unlocks. Go through it and get out of this underground area completely. Back outside in the town, enter the final building of the town, located to your east. Inside, you'll find the elder of the town, Watchitt. After some endless chatter from the half senile geezer, he will call this guy named Green and order him to raise the bridge for you, allowing you to progress further into the area. Exit the house after that and then go left and jump onto the bricks that have the pipe behind them. Once atop the bricks, jump to the house to the left, then jump go right and jump across each house you come across until you make your way to the top of the elder's house, where you'll find a Boomboxer Card. Nice. Once you get that, drop down and go down the pipe, since the bridge has not officially been rose yet. You'll appear in the background after going down the pipe. In the background, go right and enter the house. Inside, talk to Green. He will raise the bridge for you, then ask you what is the best color. Answer anything as it doesn't really matter. Once you get kicked out of Green's house, cross the newly formed bridge and you reach the end of the chapter. Chapter 1-3 ----------- Upon arrival, advance through the area, breaking the blocks you come across, killing the enemies you come across, and using your 3D ability. You can try your new friend Thoreau out here if you want, although it is definitely not mandatory. When you reach some sand rivers, keep going until you reach the final one. At that point, head west slightly towards a rock, then flip into 3D mode and grab the card behind the rock. Also, be sure to ignore the Cleft enemies (small rocks that rise up and attack you), since you can't hurt them right now. Anyway, go past the final sand river after obtaining the card, then flip into 3D mode when you reach the dinosaur-like enemy. In 3D mode, go behind its back and then flip back to 2D mode and jump on the glowing ball on its tail until you kill it. Once that is done, keep going and go through the star door you come across to reach the next area. In this area, kill all the enemies you come across. When you reach a brick pillar, flip into 3D, keep going, and kill the remaining enemies in the area. Once the enemies have been cleared out, backtrack, being sure to keep 3D mode on (but turning it off when your meter gets low, to avoid damage) until you come across a rock that has an arrow sign that points right. At that point, go right and take newly revealed path. When you cross the bridge-like path, flip back into 2D and head right until you reach a statue. Examine it to find out our next clue to progressing further into the area. Yeah so what, I could've told you, but I didn't, and that's that. Life is not perfect ya know. ;) Anyway, after examining the statue, head back left, flip into 3D when you reach the end of this area, then take the path back left into the previous room. Now, backtrack to the entrance of this room and exit through the star door. In the next previously visited area you come to, backtrack yet again and you should eventually come across a red palm tree. When you come to that, stand under its branches and jump ten times. After you do that, a door will be revealed, so go through it. In the subsequent area, keep going until you reach a sand river. At that point you should flip into 3D to reveal a bridge in the midst of the sand river. This must be how Moses felt when God parted the Red Sea in the Bible, eh? Nifty. Anyway, cross the bridge, then flip back to 2D upon reaching the other side (be sure that you are at least a good bit to the right before doing so, however or you won't be able to pass). Stand atop the brick pillar, then jump atop the brick rectangle floating nearby, then finally jump to a lone brick platform. Here, face the blue "!" switch located in the brick rectangle and throw Thoreau at it. This will cause the nearby line rectangles to your right to begin moving again, allowing you to progress further. Ride them to the other side, then go into 3D mode and defeat the enemies on this platform. Try and kill multiple enemies at one time if possible for added Score. If you fall back to the other side, simply ride the line rectangles and try again. Once the enemies are cleared, advance through the area and enter the door you come across, but save before you do. Here, you'll come across O'Chunks, whom you have to fight. Check the Bosses section to see how to win. When you defeat O'Chunks, go back to the previous room and save. Then, go back into the room where O'Chunks was, go through the door on the right, into the next area. Once here, go right until you reach a dead end. Once there, use the spring to jump atop the nearby moving platform. Once you do that, jump left from platform to platform until you reach a star door being held in the air by several bricks. Go inside. In this area, simply go all the way right until you reach the end of the area. At that point, step on top of the blue pedestal near the stone structure and when you get on it, press - and 1 on the Wiimote simultaneously. This will cause the stone structure to break apart, revealing a block that lets you get to the end of this chapter. Hit it. Chapter 1-4 ----------- In this final part of Chapter 1, advance onward, take out the enemy, then go through the door. In the following area, advance onward, taking out the nearby enemy in front of you. You can use its shell to kill other enemies that are nearby, just for future reference. There are none nearby right now, so just keep your butt moving, ya got that? Good. When you reach the center of the area, you'll see a flame rotating on the ground. If it touches you, you take damage, so avoid it at all costs. When the flame is not threatening you, jump on top of the block above it. At that point, jump atop the lone block to your left, then jump onto the ledge above you to your left. Take out the enemies here for some Score, then jump on the block opposite the one you used to get up onto this platform. When you do that, jump to the ledge above you to the right, take out the enemy on the far side of the platform, climb the ladder, and go west to find a chest that contains a Life Shroom. Upon getting this, backtrack all the way back to the area with the rotating flame. Once there, keep advancing eastward and go through the door you come to. In the following area, flip into 3D and go straight ahead, ignoring the rotating flames on your right (3D makes it practically impossible to be hit by the flames, unless you're stupid enough to walk into them). You'll come to a locked star door. Go past it and you'll come to another, unlocked door. Kill the nearby enemy, then hit the two nearby yellow arrow blocks. After that, flip back into 2D, jump atop the newly revealed yellow blocks, and enter the aforementioned door. In the subsequent area, simply head east, being sure to jump over the flame and climb the ladder. Open the chest you come to and you'll receive the Ruins Key. Neat. After that ordeal, go back through the door you used to come here, then in the previous area, backtrack to the locked door I told your grimy hands to ignore earlier. Examine the door and use the Ruins Key on it to open the way to a new area. In this new area, save your game at the nearby Save Point. Onward. You'll reach an area that is covered with sand. If you wait too long to move when you are on the sand, you'll sink. Avoid this at all costs. Jump onto the brick and blocks above you where the pink enemy is. Kill it and continue on, past the sandy area. You will reach two rolling spiked enemies. Flip into 3D and run past them. When you reach the other side, stay in 3D and hit and then jump atop the "?" block to your left against the wall (it's only visible in 3D). Use the block to jump onto the high ledge with the star door above you. Enter the door. Now, the objective for you in here is to hit the blue "!" switch. Run east and off the platform, onto the floor below. Here, wait until a pink enemy drops out from the pipe to the right. When one does, use Thoreau to pick it up, then jump as high as you can while standing a few steps away from the blue switch, and then throw the bugger. If you hit the block, it will disappear. Before you leave, you should know that you can gain unlimited Score in here if you'd like. The pipe on the right drops out enemies each time after you defeat one. They only give 100 Score though, so if you wanted to level up a lot, you'd be stuck there all night, mate. Anyway, once you hit the block, leave the room. Back in the previous room, backtrack to the sandy area where the blocks and bricks are. Jump atop the blocks and bricks when you reach them, then jump onto the area of bricks above you. Then, use Thoreau to get the Ruins Key. After getting that, go back to the right until you come across the locked door. Open it with the Ruins Key. In this next new area, you'll come to what appears to be a dead end, since the door we see is out of our reach. What to do, I wonder? Oh, I know! Use Tippi's information ability just below the door to reveal a hidden platform that will allow you to reach the door. Enter it when you get to it. In this area, take out the two nearby enemies, using one's shell against the other. Then go all the way left, flip into 3D mode, avoid the flames, and go up the stairs you see to your left. The stairs are a bit hard to notice at first, but they are directly west of the bricks floating in the area. You should notice an opening in the wall if you look carefully there. Anyway, go back to 2D mode after going up the stairs. You will appear inside the floating bricks, where another Ruins Key is. Take it, flip back into 3D, go back into 2D mode, then go right, avoiding the flame enemies, and then you should see a locked door that you probably noticed when you first entered this room. Before unlocking it, flip back into 3D mode and follow the path to your right. You'll come to a room with two Buzzy Beetle enemies, only visible in 3D mode. Kill them, then grab the Buzzy Beetle Card from the chest. Leave and unlock the door. Here, jump on the spring, then quickly move left onto the high ledge above you. Once on the ledge, flip into 3D and go left. You should see a ladder. Climb, climb, climb. When you reach the top, flip back into 2D, then go straight and jump on the blue "!" switch. The result is a bunch of rolling spike enemies (possibly an understatement). Quickly run to the left and jump onto the slightly higher platform you come to. The stone spikes will fall down a pit that opens up. Their fall is actually a saving grace for us, since it allows us to access the door we couldn't earlier. Drop down the pit and enter the door. In this room, go into 3D mode to find clues to a block puzzle. Oh, joy... Well, life is no joy ride. We have to do what we have to do. Anyway, once you find out the clue to the puzzle, revert back into 2D mode. Hit the blocks in the order the numbers said (you start with number 1). If done correctly, a staircase will appear. Go up it and then save your game and hit the nearby block to get a Super Shroom, which heals 20 HP. Nifty. Go through the pipe to reach the next area of this chapter. Once outside in the desert area, run to the right a bit and a cutscene will commence. You'll meet Fracktail, who is a robotic dragon, apparently a computer robot, hence the searching of his internal structure. He will offer to let you pass and get the Pure Heart. Before you can get it, Dimentio appears and casts a spell on him and makes him malfunction. He overloads himself, and, after some rather entertaining computer programming talk, he attacks you. Read the Bosses section to see how to defeat Fracktail. Upon defeating Fracktail, a door is revealed. Go through it. In the area you come to, head east and down the steps. At the end of the room, you'll meet a spiritual figure known as Merlumina. After some pointless chatter about stuff we don't even know or care about, you will receive a Pure Heart and complete Chapter 1. Castle Bleck ------------ As will be the case after every chapter, a cutscene will commence in Castle Bleck. O'Chunks is sulking because of his loss, and Count Bleck sends out Mimi to kill Mario. Nastasia tells O'Chunks to stay here, and then she leaves and the scene ends. After the scene, you'll see a small cutscene with Princess Toadstool. Apparently, Luigi and Bowser are nowhere to be found, and Peach really has no idea where she is, either. When you gain control of Peach, go right and through the door. In the next room, you'll see a cutscene as the Koopa Troopa Captain gets brainwashed, in spite of his extreme loyalty to Bowser. Yikes. If Nastasia can hypnotize even the most loyal minions, imagine what she'll do to us. Anyway, when you regain control, head west and go through the door you come to. In the subsequent area, go left and down the stairs, and enter the first door you come across. In the room you come to, go left to reach a dead end. The Koopa Troopa that was accompanying you will become brainwashed by Nastasia. Before Peach can become brainwashed, she gets teleported (my guess is by Dimentio) out of Castle Bleck completely. You'll end up in Flipside, with renewed control of Mario. After a short scene between two unknown people, of course. Flipside -------- Back in Flipside, Tippi says to go see Merlon. This is the theme after every chapter, so you might as well get used to it... Head left and go down the elevator, then when you reach the main part of Flipside, Merlon will greet you, tell you to come inside his house, then go inside himself. Save your game and enter his house. After the talk with Merlon is done, a young man will come into Merlon's house and tell him a girl has fallen out of the sky. Merlon will tell you to come as well, so follow him by going right and going up the elevator you come across. In the following area, go left and you'll find Merlon and an unconscious Peach. Merlon tells you to find a chef who can apparently heal Peach. Go right and back down the elevator, then go all the way left in the following area, and go down the elevator. In the area you come to, which is the first floor of Flipside, head right, past the first house, and enter the second house you come to, which has a lemon-like symbol on it. Inside, you'll find the chef Merlon wanted us to speak with. Speak with her. Unfortunately, she doesn't have the ingredients necessary to make a Spicy Soup for Peach. Unfortunately, that means WE have to go get it, because of her immense laziness. Darn. We need to go buy a Fire Burst, so let's go do that, shall we? Exit the shop and head back to the second floor of the town. Once there, head left into the item shop (the building with the Mushroom on it). Buy a Fire Burst there for 20 Coins. Once you have that, go back to the first floor and enter the chef's house again. Talk to her and give her the Fire Burst to get a Spicy Soup from her. Now, go back to the third floor of Flipside and give Peach the Spicy Soup. She will wake up after you give to her, then some dialogue starts. You'll end up in Merlon's house, and then after some long talking, Peach joins your party. Lovely. Exit Merlon's house when you can, save your game at the Save Point, then switch back to Mario, then flip into 3D. Look to the right and you should see a locked gate. Use the Old Key Merlon gave you to unlock it. Now, flip back to 3D and look north and you should find a path going right. Follow it. In the subsequent area, go right and you'll find a pipe. Go down it. In this area, go left and drop down the gap to reach an underground area with two chests and a spring to get you back up to the previous area. Open the two chests to find a Merluvee and a Merlon Card. After getting those, use the spring to reach the previous area. Now, keep going left and when you jump over the first gap, flip into 3D and you should see a platform that is normally not visible pointing to the right via a red arrow. A hidden path, perhaps? Well yes, but you might want to go back into 2D and defeat the pair of enemies to the left for some Score. At any rate, while in 3D, head right from the arrow platform, and then follow the path to the next area. Once here, head left and you'll come across two platforms. Flip into 3D, then jump atop the smaller one, then jump onto the bigger one that has the sign on it. At this point, flip back into 2D and then switch to Peach. With Peach, fly across the stone platforms and you'll reach one that has a Heart Pillar on it. Place the Pure Heart in it. After doing that, backtrack to Flipside. When you reach the town again, save your game at the Save Point near Merlon's house, then go back right and up the elevator to reach Flipside Tower. Once there, go through the door that was revealed when you put the Pure Heart in the Heart Pillar a moment ago. Chapter 2 begins. Chapter 2-1 ----------- When you regain control of Mario, advance onward and kill the Koopa Troopa enemies you come to that are patrolling a ledge. Use one of their shells to kill the others for added Score. After you do that, flip into 3D to see a trail of coins. Take them and flip back into 2D and go right. Jump onto the second platform you come across, then use Peach and fly to the right onto a ledge overlooking a pool of water below. Hit the block to get a Coin. Now, continue onward and kill the Cheep Cheep enemies in the water by jumping on them. Eventually, you'll reach a piece of land overlooking some water as well as a high ledge above you that a flying Koopa Troopa flies close to. Flip back into 3D at this point and then hit the yellow arrow blocks, then flip back into 2D. Jump on top of the arrow blocks you just revealed, then jump on top of the high ledge above you where the flying Koopa Troopa is. Bounce off the Koopa Troopa when it flies as high as it can go, then switch to Peach when you get on the next platform to the right of you. At this point, simply fly from platform to platform until you reach a pipe. Go through the pipe, into the next area. Defeat the three enemies here, then open the chest that appears to get a Door Key. Go back through the pipe into the previous area, then drop down and unlock the star door to reach the next area. Here, hit the nearby block and grab the 8-bit Mario's, then advance eastward. Kill the Goombas in 2D, then flip to 3D and kill them there as well. Ignore the star door and continue eastward once all enemies have been taken care of in both dimensions. You'll reach a pipe. Jump on it, then use Peach to fly to the right and onto the floating blocks. Let the rectangle lines carry you up to the next platform. From there, simply use Peach to fly left across all floating blocks, killing the Koopa Troopa enemies you come across. You'll reach a pipe at the end. Go down it. You'll appear in the background. Run all the way to the right, jumping over the gaps. You'll reach a blue "!" switch at the end, which you should jump on. After doing that, go back west and go down the pipe you used to get over here. Back in the foreground, head eastward, passing the first star door you come to (all that's in there is a guy from Merlee's Mansion), and entering the second star door you come to (be careful of the Piranha Plant that comes out of the pipe. When you reach said door, enter it. Hit the block in here to get a Star. Use it as you advance eastward by walking through every object and enemy, obliterating them. When you reach the end of the room and the Star wears off, save at the Save Point, then go through the door. In this area, hit the block that's nearby to get a Slow Flower. These give you triple the Score and Coins you would normally receive if you killed an enemy. That's the upside to being insanely slow. After getting the Slow Flower, jump atop the block, then jump up onto the blocks to the right. At that point, keep going eastward, killing the enemy you come across on one of the platforms. It will give you 300 Score instead of 100 because you have the Slow Flower. After killing the enemy, drop down to the right when you are overlooking another "?" block. After dropping down, break the block to get a Flower. Grab the Coins that rain down. Now, defeat the nearby enemy, then progress even further east, using 3D to go around the dinosaur-like enemy you come across. Kill that enemy by going back to 2D after sneaking behind him (its glowing tail is its weak spot), then go back in 3D and kill the remaining enemies in the area, both to the right and left. After that, backtrack left and enter the pipe. In the underground area you come to, use Tippi's information ability to find a hidden blue "!" switch. Instead of revealing it, it will remain invisible. Don't fret, however, as all you have to do is stand beneath it and jump up to hit it. After hitting it, a pipe is revealed. Go down it. In here, kill the enemy in here that splits itself. Jump on it when it floats low and within your reach. Kill each one that the main one splits. Once you defeat that annoying enemy, a big chest is revealed. Open it to get the Pixl Boomer. Nifty. Upon acquiring Boomer, use his ability to bomb a hole in the crack in the wall to the right. A path to another room is revealed. Flip into 3D and go through the path to another room. Here, open the chest to get a Watchitt Card. Upon getting that, leave this room and make your way back outside. Back outside, head all the way east, then jump onto the platform that has indestructible blocks on it. Use Boomer to explode the blocks, then jump to the platform with the star door to your left. There are three star doors here. Which one to take, you ask? Of course you do, it's only natural. Not to worry, I'll help you, like always. Take the first one you come to. In the room you arrive in, go in 3D and use Boomer to defeat both Spiky Goombas. After that, exit this room. Back outside, enter the next door. Inside, kill the worm-like enemy by placing Boomer near its mouth and causing it to swallow the bomb and explode, killing it. Afterward, exit the room. Now, enter the next door. Do the same thing you did in the previous room. Do not leave after killing the enemy, but rather, go into 3D and use Boomer to explode the blocks on the left side of the room. When you explode the blocks, a hole is revealed. Go down the hole and collect the two trails of coins. Then you should go down the nearby hole and go through the star door to appear back outside, near the second door. Go left and enter the fourth and final door. In the room you appear in, use Boomer to kill both Spiky Goombas, one in each dimension. Once that is taken care of, use Boomer to blow up the blocks on the left side of the room (in 3D). Go down the hole and hit the blue "!" switch. Go down the hole in this room after hitting the switch, then go through the star door to be back outside yet again. This time, a fifth door is revealed. Go through it and defeat the two pink cloud enemies, then hi the star block to reach the next chapter. Chapter 2-2 ----------- When you arrive here, flip into 3D, then look to your left. You should see an opening in the bushes. Go through the opening and hit the Coin Block until you deplete it of its Coin supply. Now, flip back into 2D and go through the bush opening again. After that, head right until you reach the end of this area (ignore the mansion for now). Jump on the block you come across, then jump up to reveal a hidden block, which creates a ladder. Switch to Peach and climb. After climbing the ladder, jump atop the two blocks, then fly left and over to the roof of the mansion. Open the chest to get a Stop Watch. After that, drop back down to the ground and enter the mansion. In there, advance onward, being sure to jump over the green dinosaur enemies you come across, as you cannot hurt them. When you reach the end of the room, what appears to be a dead end is actually the path to a door leading further into the mansion. Flip to 3D to find it. Enter the door. In the following room, save your game at the Save Point. Then, advance onward and talk to Mimi, who supposedly works for Merlee. She tells you where Merlee is. Once you regain control, head east and enter the door you come across (on ground level; ignore the stairs for now). In the room you appear in, you'll see a Mushroom tied to a rope of of some sort. Since we are like moths drawn to a flame, follow the Mushroom and you'll eventually fall down a pit into another room. In that room, kill the three Boo enemies by turning your back to them and using Boomer when they get near to explode them. You can also jump on them once they have passed you, but I prefer the former. Once they are defeated, place Boomer near the red "!" switch, then go left and explode him when you reach the pipe. The opening of the pipe will be revealed, so go through it to reach the previous room where the Mushroom is. Leave that room. Back in the main room of the mansion, go up the stairs and enter the first door. In the room you arrive in, another trap is set. Jump to the Mushroom hanging from the chain. You receive the Mushroom, but fall down a pit to another room. Defeat the enemy there and go through the pipe that's revealed. Then, leave the trap room and enter the second door upstairs. In this room, flip into 3D and go up the stairs and collect all of the coins. You'll fall into a pit again. Once you fall, you'll be in another room, obviously. Beat the two bat enemies, place Boomer by the red "!" switch, run left, and explode him. Enter the pipe that's revealed. Now, exit this room and enter the final door upstairs. Here, go all the way right and you should see a green switch on the wall. Flip it and spikes will slowly creep down towards you, threatening to squash you. What to do, you ask? Simple. Wait until the spikes get very near your position, then flip into 3D and jump onto the platform that holds them up. After that, you can flip back into 2D. Go all the way left when the spikes come to a halt. You'll see a platform. Jump on it, then jump to the platform to the right. You will see some indestructble blocks. You know what that means; time for Boomer. Use him to explode the blocks, then flip into 3D when you reach the brown brick pillar. When in 3D, blow up the next set of blocks that are nearby, being careful not to walk off and fall down. After that, carefully walk across the remainder of the path and when you reach a platform with a chest on it, flip back to 2D and jump on it. Open the chest to get a House Key. Now that you have that, you can leave this room, so jump down and do so. Back in the main room of the mansion, go downstairs, go east, then flip into 3D when you reach the huge purple dinosaur enemy. Go around him, then open the locked door with the key you just got. Once you unlock it, the purple dinosaur will be set free and attack Mimi. Go through the door you unlocked when you regain control. There, hit the star block to end the chapter. Chapter 2-3 ----------- When you arrive here, break the vase on the nearby "?" block. After breaking the vase, Mimi will be angry and give you a 1,000,000 dollar debt in Rubees. Obviously, we don't have any of that, so we'll have to work to get it. Work sucks. Hit the coin block to get one Coin. Now, jump onto the block in the middle of the room, then jump to the platform to the right. Switch to Peach and use her to fly over to the platform to the left. Switch back to Mario, and flip into 3D mode. You'll see a red arrow pointing south. Open the big chest you come across to get a new Pixl, Slim. Once you get Slim, flip back into 3D and exit this place. Now, jump down below and get on the block. Then, jump to the platform to the right. Flip into 3D mode and you should see an arrow pointing up. Follow it to some indestructible blocks, which you should use Boomer to explode. After exploding the blocks, enter the small room, flip back to 2D, and open the chest for a Boo Card. Once you have that, flip back into 3D and exit the room, then go back into 2D and jump atop the nearby platform above you and make your way to the next floor. Enter the first door you come across. In this room, you'll see that a platform is present in the center of the room, with electricity flowing through it. Also, there are several prisoners being forced to jump to produce more energy, and thus Rubees. Wait... did I just say Rubees? Well yeah, I did, but what's it to you? Yes, we have to go here if you are wondering. So, talk to the girl on the far right side of the room and tell her you want to work to collect Rubees. Do as she says and jump on the nearby block to the left that isn't occupied. Do this until you've got 110 Rubees. Jump over the electrical ball that occasionally comes where you are. It will damage you if you don't. You won't get the Rubees though until you talk to the girl, so jump approximately 110 times than talk to her to get the Rubees. After you have 110 Rubees, exit this room. Back in the main room, head back down to the very start of this room. Then, jump atop the block that the vase was on in the beginning, then jump on to the platform to the right. Fly over to the platform to the left with Peach, then enter the door that's nearby. In here, talk to the guy to your left and pay him 100 Rubees to learn the VIP code. Nifty. After learning that, hit the block in here to get a Mushroom (it costs 10 Rubees). Now, leave the room and head back to the top floor. There, stand near the second door from the right and examine the object on the wall. Enter the passcode when prompted, which is 5963. Enter the room. In this next room, talk to the girl on the far right, and tell her you want to be a slave. Err, I mean tell her you want to do some work to earn more Rubees. She'll open a wheel up for you. Step inside and hold Right on the D-Pad for about five minutes. After that, you should have 10,000 Rubees after you talk to the girl. Once you get 10,000 Rubees, exit this room. Now, enter the door to your left. Inside, flip into 3D and talk to the guy in the northwestern corner. He will offer you a secret if you pay him 10,000 Rubees. Do so and you'll learn another passcode, 41262816. Exit this room afterward. Back in the previous room, flip into 3D and you should see an arrow pointing down. Follow it into another room. Hit the block in here to reveal a ladder. Go into 2D and climb it up to another platform. Here, use Slim to turn sideways. Do this when one of the electric barriers come very close to you. If done right, you should go straight through them, at which point you should head right out of the reach of the barrier, then flip back to normal. Do the same thing you did for the first barrier when you reach the second barrier. Once you pass the second barrier, input the next VIP passcode in the console on the wall. In case you are wondering or are too lazy to look above, the passcode is 41262816. After that, the door will open and you'll get 1,000,000 Rubees! Very nice! Now that you have that, we can exit this annoying place and move onto Chapter 2-4. Anyway, once that is done, head left past the electric barriers, the same way you avoided them. After passing the electric barriers, head all the way to the very bottom floor. There, head all the way right and enter the door. Inside, save your game at the Save Point, then talk to the receptionist behind the counter, who is actually Mimi. Tell her you want to pay off some Rubees. She'll be surprised that you managed to pay off all your debt, as that wasn't supposed to happen, apparently. She gets mad and explodes, but trust me when I say we have not seen the last of the annoying spoiled brat. When you regain control, jump behind the desk Mimi was behind, then flip into 3D and use Slim to slip through the bars. Hit the star block to reach the end of the chapter. Chapter 2-4 ----------- Starting off, go down the stairs after Merlee gets done talking. Flip into 3D and go left to a "?" block. Hit it and grab the Mushroom that comes out. Now, flip back to 2D and advance on by going east (ignore the doors for now). Save your game at the Save Point you reach, then enter the door to the left of the one you are currently beside. In the room you arrive in (Room 1), defeat the Boo enemies, then go through the door to the right to reach a new room. NOTE: From this point on, I'll be assuming you defeat every enemy you come across in these numbered rooms. They give Score (obviously), so I recommend killing them to have an easier time with the upcoming boss. This means I'll tell you how to progress, but not kill the enemies. Is it because I'm lazy? You got it! :D In this room (Room 3), flip into 3D and hit the yellow arrow blocks. Then, flip back into 2D and enter the door to your right. In this next room (Room 2), hit the blocks as one of them contains a Zombie Shroom, which will give you extra Score, should you kill it. Now, enter the room in the northeast corner of the room. In this room (Room 4), enter the only other door in this room. In the following room, go all the way left, past the door, and flip into 3D. Hit the yellow arrow blocks, then after you hit the first four, flip back to 2D, then jump on them. Then, flip back into 3D and hit one of the yellow arrow blocks above you quickly before you fall (you don't need to hit both). After you hit the yellow arrow block, go back to 2D and use the arrow blocks to reach the platform to the right. You'll find Merlee... or will you? Talk to her, and say no to everything she says. She'll reveal herself as Mimi, then transform into a spider. Yuck. By the way, if you are wondering what this "Breadward" Pixl is, don't, because it's a fake one. She was just trying to bribe you. Anyway, after Mimi reveals her true form, drop back down to the area below and enter either door. Run around the mansion for a couple of minutes, then go back into the room where Mimi was when she revealed her true form. Enter the door Mimi was guarding. In this room (Room 5), go right and when you come across a seam in the floor, use Slim and fall through it. Then, revert back to normal and enter the door. In this room (Room 6), simply make your way to the door in the northeast corner of the room by flipping to 3D when atop the blocks below it. Go through the door when you reach it. In this room (Room 8), use Boomer in front of the crack near the sign on the wall to reveal a passage that houses a Shroom Shake. Get it and go back to the previous room. Now, go through the door on the bottom left. In the next room (Room 7), go to the northeast corner of the room and use Boomer on the crack in the wall. Follow the path that's revealed and then enter the door to reach another room. Once here (Room 9), run to the left, flip into 3D, and hit the yellow arrow blocks, then flip back into 2D and use them to jump to the platform with a door above you. Go through it. In this room, defeat the giant Boo when it moves past you (be sure you have your back turned or it won't move). It takes 4 jumps if you are Level 5 to defeat it. Anyway, after that, use Tippi's information ability below the ledge with the door to reveal a hidden staircase (as if the shadow didn't give it away o.O). Go up it and enter the door. In this room, you'll see two bathrooms, a Save Point, and a "?" block. Hit the "?" block to get a Super Shroom, which will heal 20 HP. Also, be sure to save your game, then finally enter the female bathroom, you dirty pervert. :P The male bathroom, incase you are wondering, has nothing important except a note in the far left bathroom when you flip into 3D mode. More hooligans writing aimlessly for no reason, I guess. Anyway, upon entering the female bathroom, open all doors until one reveals Merlee, who, surprisingly, comes out of the... toilet. o_o After some chitchat about who's the real Merlee (Mimi transforms into Merlee again), you'll have to pick which one is real via a mini-game. This game is quite fun, and some of the responses are hilarious. You have to ask the real and fake Merlee's a total of five questions. Afterward, you pick which one is real. The real one is the one with the fly around it, by the way, but it does not matter if you are right or wrong, since nothing happens. After the game is over, you fight Mimi in her spider form. Read the Bosses section to see how to win here. Once you win, Merlee will tell you about the four heroes who are supposed to help stop Count Bleck. Mario and Peach are the first two heroes, but we must find the last two. You'll get a Pure Heart, and end up with the scene switching to Castle Bleck. Castle Bleck ------------ Count Bleck and his minions will chitchat, like always. Bleck sends Dimentio after you this time. You also learn that Bleck is suffering in his heart, but you don't learn anything beyond that. Once the scene is over, you will wake up as Luigi. After some talking, you'll gain control of him. Just head left and go through every door you come across, as that's all you have to do. When you enter the final door, you'll emerge into a room that seems neverending as you run to the left. Keep running though, and the Goombas will tell you to wait so they can catch up. Just then, as you reach a dead end, Nastasia comes and hypnotizes one Goomba, and the other one joins him without being hypnotized. Luigi then gets ganged up on by various enemies in the castle, and the scene ends. You get to see some dialogue between Timpani and Blumiere. You'll end up in Flipside. Flipside -------- Once here, some dialogue commences, as Merlon talks with your group. The void also grows bigger, signifying that we have little time left before all worlds go kaboom. Once you regain control, head back down to Merlon's house. Save your game then enter his house. After the chatter, flip into 3D outside Merlon's house. Go through the gate, then follow the path to your right. In the area you come to after the path, go right and enter the pipe you reach. In the underground area you reach, head all the way left, jumping over the gaps. You'll reach a pipe with blocks on it. Use Boomer to break the blocks, and then enter the pipe. In the following area, go all the way right, then flip into 3D. You should see a small opening in the wall. Use Thin and slide through said opening. This room contains a Heart Pillar. Use the Pure Heart on the Heart Pillar to reveal the door to the next chapter. After this, backtrack all the way to Merlon's house, where you should save your game. After that, head over to Flipside Tower and enter the door you revealed earlier to enter Chapter 3. You may want to buy some items at the item shop before you go, though. Chapter 3-1 ----------- Upon arrival, a green creature by the name of Francis kidnaps Tippi and goes back to his lair. After that, a Pixl by the name of Barry (he won't say it, but you will learn the name later) will tell you tips, but will, probably surprising to you, not join you. Oh well, we can get him later. For now, go ahead and advance onward, and you'll soon to come a series of ledges with Koopa Troopa enemies patrolling them. Hit the first one, then use its shell to kill all of the Koopa Troopas. If you do you, your Score will go up quite a bit. After that, keep going and you'll see a tall pipe you can't get past. Flip into 3D at that point, go past the pipe, then hit the yellow arrow block. Flip back into 2D, then jump onto the arrow block, then onto the pipe. Then hit the block to create a ladder. Go up it, then enter the star door. In this room, switch to Peach. Then go left and wait for the moving platform to the left to reach you. When it does, jump on it, then get on the other side when you reach it. Then jump onto the nearby pipe after Pirhana Plant retreats. Fly to the left from said pipe and go down the tall pipe to the left that you come across (you can defeat the nearby enemy before going on the pipe if you want). You'll appear in the background. There, go right and grab the Catch Card SP, then go back left and down the pipe back to the foreground. Once in the foreground again, head all the way east back to the entrance of this room. From there, go right a bit and hit the "?" block to get a Star. Go right after getting it and plow through all enemies you come across. You'll reach a star door at the end. Enter the door. In this next area, you'll see a Koopa Troopa use a Star to turn huge. Bad news. Go left and then hit the "?" block you come to to find a Star of your own. Get the Star, then kill the Koopa Troopa with it. After that, keep going east, Star still intact, and kill all the enemies you come across until it wears off. Keep going east until you reach a sign and a blue "!" switch. Hit the switch to cause a platform to appear below the star door floating in the air to your left. Now, read the sign if you want, but either way, head all the way left until you reach a star door floating in the air. Enter it into the next area. Once here, head left and enter the star door you come across to reach the first area of the chapter. Once there, drop down off the platform and head right, saving your game at the Save Point. Then, go right, defeat the Magikoopa enemies, jump over the gray slime enemy (it takes you back to Flipside, which sucks), and enter the pipe you come across to appear in the background. There, head left and enter the pipe you come to and you'll reach an underground area. There, open the chest to get a Thunder Rage. Defeat the cloning enemy in this room (I recommend using your Thunder Rage to do so), then a pipe will be revealed. Enter it to be in the background again. Go all the way left and get the Ice Storm you find. Now, go back east past the two pipes, and enter the last pipe you come across to reach the foreground again. Back in the foreground, head all the way left, avoiding the gray slime enemy that takes you back to Flipside. You'll reach two red pipes between a pit. Fall down the pit to reach another underground area. Once here, hit the blocks you come across to get some 8-bit buddies at your side. Also, one block is a coin block, so be sure to deplete it of its Coins before continuing on. Beat every enemy you come across while advancing until you reach a pit with vertically moving platforms. Jump on the first set of platforms, then onto the second set. From there, jump to the right onto the platform above you. Keep going and you'll see a huge pipe marking the way to the exit. Above that pipe, though, there's a long platform just waiting you to jump on it. Go back to the second set of vertically moving platforms and use them to jump atop the platform. Run to the right once on the platform and drop down into the area with the three pipes. Go through the middle one to be outside. Once there, save your game, then head right and kill the two Koopa Troopa-like enemies on the blocks. Then go east and you'll find a castle. Kill the enemies on it, then continue eastward to find another castle. Repeat what you did for the first castle, then continue on, where you'll find a third and final castle. This one is easy to destroy; simply throw Boomer at the red X on the bottom left corner of the castle and explode him. This will destroy the castle and all of the enemies along with it. Nice. Bowser will fall down from the sky and you'll have to fight him. As always, consult the one and only Bosses section for guidance on winning. After the battle, Bowser joins you! Nifty. Then, after some chatter with his minions, you regain control. Head east and hit the star block to end this chapter. Chapter 3-2 ----------- When you gain control, simply swim all the way to the right, using Bowser's flame to kill all of the Cheep Cheep and Blooper enemies you encounter. Break the boxes along the way, as one of them contains a Flower. When you reach the end of the area, you'll see a Save Point and a pipe enclosed in an area made by bricks. Save your game, switch to Mario, then flip into 3D mode. You'll see a platform with the pipe on it. Go on it, then flip back into 2D. You should be inside the enclosed area where the pipe is at this point, so go down it. In this next area, swim right until you reach a tentacle. Swim past it, then flip into 3D where you should see a trail of coins. Above that is a hidden area with a pipe and a chest. Swim up into that area and open the chest for a Gold Bar. Now, enter hte nearby pipe to reach an underground area. In here, go right and kill the Spiky Goombas. Continue right and drop into the water. Swim to the right, killing the Blooper enemies with Bowser. You'll reach a star door. Go through it. In this next new room, kill the enemies with Bowser, then a chest will appear in the corner. Open it to find a new Pixl by the name of Thudley. Thudley allows you to preform a ground pound, which we are familiar with from SM64 and SM64DS. After you've gotten Thudley, you still have to find a way out of this room. Pound the pillar by the door and the gates will be removed from the door. Go through it back to the previous area. Make your way out of that area, then go through the pipe you come to to reach another previously visited area. When you get back in this area, go left and drop back down into the water, out of this hidden room. Now, swim all the way to the end of the area by going right. Kill the enemies you come across using Bowser's fire breath. Also, avoid the spiraling vortexes in here, as they can push you back or foward depending on their angle when you enter them, which can get quite annoying. Anyway, upon reaching the end of the area, get out of the water and jump onto the platform with a picture on the wall of six pillar-like things. This is the key to an upcoming puzzle, which isn't that hard, thankfully. In case you don't remember the puzzle solution painted on the wall for you, or if you are too lazy to look at the sign, I'll tell you the puzzle solution right here. Be sure to keep it engraved in your heart: KEY: U = Unpounded P = Pounded U, P, P, U, P, U At any rate, swim all the way back to the left after you view the picture on the wall. Go back all the way to the first room of this chapter. Once there, you should see six pillars just left of the pipe by the Save Point. Use Thudley to ground pound the pillars in the order of the puzzle solution shown to you above by yours truly. If done correctly, a star door will be revealed. Go through the door into the next area. Once in this area, advance eastward, killing the enemies until you come to a halt, as a cutscene commences. You'll see a giant Blooper, which happens to be the source of the tentacles we've seen throughout this chapter. Time to murder him. Read the Bosses section for help on winning here. After the Blooper is defeated, simply go right and through the pipe you reach an outside area. Out there, go east and hit the star block to reach Chapter 3-3. Chapter 3-3 ----------- Upon arrival, simply go east and jump onto the green grassy platform. From there, jump from platform to platform until you reach what appears to be a dead end on the left side of the screen near a tree limb you can see faintly off to your left. At this point, flip into 3D and you should see two yellow arrow blocks. Hit the arrow blocks, then flip back into 2D, jump atop the newly revealed blocks, then jump onto the green grassy platform above you. Now, jump from platform to platform until you reach a pillar that you can ground pound. Do so, and then a platform will be revealed to your left. Jump on it. Keep going from platform to platform and you'll come across what seems to be another dead end (it's on the left side facing a branch again). Flip to 3D here, then jump to the platforms to your north, though be careful not to fall off, since it's easy to since you're in 3D mode here. Once you reach the brown platform (the one after the indestructible block platform), flip back into 2D and jump to the green grassy platform to your left. Once you do that, keep going until you reach the top of the area. You'll see a star door submerged in the wall. Use Bowser's fire breath to melt away the wall holding the door. Enter the door into the next area. In this area, go left and beat the nearby enemy. After that, make your way to a platform with a pipe on it. Enter the pipe, then you'll be taken to the upper-levels of this area. Save your game at the Save Point you come to. After that, go right and step on the switch. Then, go back left and go down the pipe back to the lower-levels of this area. Here, you'll notice that pink platforms are now present in the center of the area. Jump across said platforms until you reach a Crazee Dayzee enemy. Defeat it, hit the nearby blue "!" switch, which will cause some blue platforms to appear to the left. Now, place Boomer by the blue "!" switch, quickly jump onto the blue platform, and then finally jump onto the vertically moving platform above you when it comes into reach. After doing this, jump onto the next moving platform when it nears you. After that, jump to another platform to your left when it comes within reach. Kill the Crazee Dayzee here, then you'll see pink platforms to your right. Get on the pink platform, then jump to the brown platform above you and to your right. There, flip into 3D and enter the pipe to reach a new room. In this room, you'll notice how there are spikes that pop out of the floor every couple seconds. Well, the trick to getting past this rather annoying area is to use Slim. Wait until the spikes retreat into the ground after switching to Slim, then quickly use him to turn thin. When the spikes come back up, stop moving, but stay in thin mode. When the spikes retreat, quickly run to the right some more. Repeat this process until you reach a switch at the end of the room. Hit it, then go back left through the dreaded spikes again, the same way you got through them earlier. Go back through the pipe that led you here, back into the previous area. Back in the previous area, jump across the pink platform to reach another platform to your left above you. Once there, stand to where you are overlooking the pit with spikes below. Throw Boomer down there by the "!" switch, then quickly run and jump onto the pink platform, and then onto the platform to your east above you. Once that is done, Boomer should have exploded by now, revealing a blue platform to the left. As usual, jump on it, then jump onto the moving platform that's nearby. Now, make your way to a platform with a pipe. Enter the pipe. In this underground area that you emerge into, jump to the moving platform to the left. Then, switch to Slim and quickly turn thin. Don't move, and when you come to the spikes by the wall, you'll go straight through them to the other side. At the other side, head left and drop down the pit to an area with another "!" switch. Place Boomer by said switch, then quickly run back up to the area above. Once that is done, exit this room the way you came in. Back outside, jump onto the moving platform below you, then jump to the brown platform to your east with the enemy on it when it comes to you. From there, go into 3D mode and jump onto the pink platform, then onto the next platform that's nearby to the right. Flip back into 2D and go left and hit the blue "!" switch. With that done, use Thudley to ground pound the nearby "?" block. You'll get a Super Shroom, which heals 20 HP. This will add Score as well. Nice. Now, we're finally done with this stupid part of the chapter. Drop down all the way to the very bottom of the area, where the first pipe is. Enter the pipe and you'll reach the upper-levels. There, enter the newly revealed star door, but save before you do. In this outside area, you'll encounter Dimentio. He will enter a battle with you. Check the Bosses section to see how to win here. After you have defeated Dimentio, jump from platform to platform in this very annoying area. Watch out for the Spiny enemies being thrown at you by the Lakitu enemies. They can knock off you off the platforms, which can get very irritating very fast. Avoid them as best you can, and don't bother killing them. Mario is best for this part, by the way. You can kill Lakitu enemies with Bowser in one hit if you'd like, and it definitely helps. However, I'd recommend you just keep going and ignore the enemies until you are beneath a long brown brick platform, which you should jump on. Once up there, you'll see white and red gusts of wind advancing eastward. Jump a red wind gust, and let it carry you over to a green pipe. Don't get off until you see the pipe. Also, be careful not to fall off by the Lakitu or by a clumsy mistake, as you'll have get on another wind gust if you do. Anyway, enter the pipe you come to. In this final area of the chapter, flip into 3D and go behind the pipe and deplete the coin block of its Coins. Then, go back into 2D, go east, and hit the star block to reach Chapter 3-4. Chapter 3-4 ----------- From the start, go all the way right, flip into 3D, and go down the pipe you should see to your right in a corner. You'll emerge into an underground area. Here, use Thoreau and throw the block onto the blue "!" switch floating in the air. After hitting it, a chest will appear. Open it to get a Fort Key, then go back through the pipe to emerge back outside. Once outside again, go left and unlock the door to get inside Francis's mansion. Once inside, save your game at the Save Point, then go through the door into the next room. In this room, simply head all the way right, going through the door at the end of the hallway. You can press Up on the D-Pad when standing in front of either of the two keyholes on the huge door in the middle of the room. This will cause you to see into the room where Francis has Tippi held. The door is locked for now, though. Anyway, after going through the door at the end of the hallway, you'll appear in a small room. Here, flip into 3D and jump onto the staircase against the wall. Then simply go up the stairs to reach another room. Once here, ignore the enemy and simply go through the door to the left. In this next room, take out the six mechanical cat enemies. After that, notice the dangling door above you, hanging atop the ceiling? You should. Stand beneath it and use Thudley to ground pound it to the ground. There's another one to the left, so ground pound it too. With that done, go through the leftmost door to enter the next room. In this room, flip into 3D and jump onto the nearby platform. Flip back into 2D, then switch to Peach and fly over to the left with her and you should land on a platform. Flip back into 3D once on said platform, then jump up onto the platform above you, go past the enemy, then flip back into 2D. Now, go through the door at the end of the hallway. In the following area, use Thoreau to grab the enemy, then throw it at the blue "!" switch floating above you. This can be difficult to do, but it is doable. Hitting the switch causes a bridge to be revealed. Cross the newly revealed bridge and open the door you come to in order to reach the next area. Once here, switch to Peach and talk to the mechanical cat. It'll ask you a few questions. Say "true" to all of them, then you'll be asked for a passcode. Put in whatever you like for a passcode, since we don't have a passcode as of now. You'll fall down into a pit where you'll see a Chain Chomp with a block behind him. Grab the block with Thoreau, then throw it on top of the red block in the eastern end of the room. Stand atop the block yourself after throwing the block on it, then a pipe will be revealed behind the Chain Chomp. Go through it. In the room you come to, kill the three mechanical cat enemies below you, then go east and you should see a yellow arrow block. Hit it and flip into 3D. Once there, jump up onto the nearby platform. Once that is done, read the sign on the wall to get the passcode for the two rooms in here, which are 2323 and 2828, respectively. Now, continue east and drop off the platform when you reach the end of it. Once here, stand atop the blue "!" switch and use Thudley to ground pound it to the ground. This will open the nearby cell. Nice. You'll recieve a new Pixl named Carrie. Nice again. Now, get on Carrie and hover across the spikes to your left. Then, when you get off the spikes, continue to go left, past the first pipe, then flip into 3D when you reach the left end of the room. You'll see a small room with a pipe leading up. Go through it. In this familiar room, save your game and then go through the door on the right. Now, make your way all the way back to the room where you ground pounded the two dangling doors to the ground. There, enter the leftmost door again and make your way back to the room with the mechanical cat that asked you questions. Answer the questions in the same manner you did last time, then you'll be asked for a passcode again. Put in 2828. A door will be revealed afterward. Go through it. In this room, hit the nearby "?" block to get a Mushroom. After that, jump onto the mechanical cat enemy and then jump off it to reach the small chest in the northeastern corner of the room. When you reach the chest, which can take a few tries, open it to get another Fort Key. After getting that, exit this room and head back to the room where you ground pounded the two dangling doors and made them fall to the ground. Once there, go through the middle door this time. Use Carrie to ride across the spiked pit you come across, then go through the door you reach. In this next new room, talk to the mechanical cat. Alas, it's time for more questions. Answer them all the way you did last time, then enter the passcode when prompted. It's 2323, by the way. An elevator will be revealed after this, so go up it to reach another room. Here, bounce off the mechanical cat and get on the platform with the small chest. Open it to get another Fort Key. Also, hit the "?" block in here for a Super Shroom to come out. After you're business in this room is done, exit it by going back down the elevator. Now, go back to the very first room of the fort (it's in the room left of the huge door where you can see Francis). Once there, save your game at the Save Point, then go east and into the room with the huge door leading to Francis. There, use both Fort Keys on the two keyholes to unlock the door leading to Francis. Enter the door when you can, then after some rather lengthy as well as very humorous dialogue, you fight Francis. Check the Bosses section for help on defeating Francis. Once he's defeated, he cries and leaves the room. That's how nerds usually are. I am one myself, so I know of what I speak. ;) Anyway, after the dialogue ends, Tippi gets so happy that a Pure Heart emerges from her. After that, the chapter ends. Castle Bleck ------------ Once here, you'll see another cutscene with Bleck and crew. This time, things begin to get interesting as we see that Dimentio apparently is plotting something against Count Bleck. He acts more than suspicious, wouldn't you agree? When the scene ends, it's time for another scene from Blumiere and Timpani. After that, it's back to Flipside. Flipside -------- Back in Flipside, the void grows bigger, time grows shorter. Even so, our heroes find even more pleasure than they did before in ranting and raving about absolutely nothing. If time is so short, why do they talk so long? The world will never know. Once the dialogue ends, go down the elevator and save your game at the Save Point near Merlon's house. After that, flip into 3D and go through the gate to reach the outskirts of the town. When you reach the outskirts, go left and follow the path to the next area. Flip back into 2D upon reaching that area, then go all the way left to find several pillars that you can ground pound. This is a puzzle, and the order is as follows: down, up, down, up. After pounding the pillars in that manner, a Heart Pillar should be revealed. Place the Pure Heart in it, as always. Once you do that, head all the way back to Flipside Tower. Once there, enter the yellow door leading to Chapter 3-1. Time to get something you probably forgot all about. Chapter 3-1 ----------- Back here, simply head east a bit and examine the bush with two red dots on it. A Pixl will come out. This Pixl is called Barry. Barry will join you since you saved Tippi from Francis. Barry can create a barrier around you for a couple seconds, and allow you to counter some attacks. He's useful in some instances. After getting Barry, use the Return Pipe and leave. Flipside -------- Back in Flipside, simply save your game by Merlon's house. I'd recommend you go to the item shop located west of Merlon's house and stock up on some Shroom Shakes. After that, go back to Flipside Tower and enter the green door to your right that was revealed when you placed the Pure Heart you got from Chapter 3 into the Heart Pillar in the outskirts. Time for Chapter 4. Chapter 4-1 ----------- When you arrive in Chapter 4, you'll find that you can't breathe. Because of this, you cannot progress any further for now. You'll end up back in Flipside. Flipside -------- Back in Flipside yet again, go down the elevator and enter Merlon's house. Talk to Merlon and he'll tell you that he has, or rather, HAD, the perfect thing for you to be able to breathe in space, namely a makeshift space helmet. Well, leave Merlon's residence when you can, then go east, past the elevator leading to Flipside Tower, and instead enter the second elevator you come across. You'll appear in a higher floor by going up that elevator. In this area, simply run to the left and you'll see a boy with the makeshift space helmet. Just what we need! Wait, what's that inside it? Confound it all, it's water with a fish inside, no less. In other words, this "helmet" is a fish bowl. Just when we thought we had our hands on a space helmet, now this. :( Talk to the boy and he'll give you the fish bowl, but tell you to drop the fish somewhere where it'll be nearby at all times. Whatever. Go back down the elevator you used to get here, then simply search each floor you enter for an elevator with a down arrow on it. Go down each floor using those elevators until you reach the basement of Flipside. There, go all the way east and drop the fish into the pool of water you encounter. After that's done, you can visit the various buildings down here if you'd like but it is not necessary. At any rate, once you're done, make your way back to Flipside Tower and enter the green door leading to Chapter 4 again. Chapter 4-1 ----------- Back here again, simply go south and you should see SOS signals being sent out sooner or later. Follow the SOS signals until you reach some sparkles. Examine the sparkles with Tippi to reveal a starship. A green squid named Squirps emerges from the starship. He claims he's your "captain" and we'll have to do what he says if we want to get the Pure Heart. Whatever. Press and hold A to charge up some energy when Squirps prompts you to. Then, release A when you cannot charge anymore. A wormhole is revealed. Go through it to reach the next area. In this area, Squirps will be disappointed that you only managed to get this far using that energy you charged up. Once you regain control, you should know that you can press 2 to shoot bullets from Squirps. You can shoot an unlimited amount of bullets, by the way. Anyway, go all the way right, shooting down all of the enemies you come across. You'll eventually reach a Save Point as well as a wormhole. Save your game there and then go back left a bit. Flip into 3D as you go left, and you will come across a card by an asteroid. Flip back into 2D, align yourself with the asteroid in accordance with where the card would be if you flipped into 3D. Once you do that, flip into 3D and grab the Foton Card. Once you get that, flip back into 2D and go back east and enter the wormhole to reach the next area. Here, simply swim all the way right, shooting down the enemies you encounter. Near the first wormhole you come to, you can flip into 3D to find another enemy if you want to kill it. Upon reaching the first wormhole, ignore the one to the right and enter the one at the top. In the area you come to, swim to the right and shoot down the enemies you encounter. Also, there are some enemies hidden in 3D, so be sure to kill them as well. You'll reach another wormhole at the end of the area. Go through it. In this next new area, defeat the nearby teleporting enemies, then go all the way right until you reach a dead end. At that point, you'll see a huge asteroid near the bottom of the screen. Swim down to the bottom of it and flip into 3D to find a Catch Card SP. Now that you have that, flip back into 2D, swim all the way left to the wormhole that you used to get into this area, then swim left past that wormhole. You will find another wormhole after defeating some more annoying teleporting enemies, so enter that wormhole to reach another area. Once here, swim all the way right, defeating the enemies you come across. You will reach the star block leading out of this chapter at the end. Before you hit it though, flip into 3D and go all the way back to the left, killing the enemies you encounter. After that, flip back into 2D. I'm assuming you are at the entrance so from there, swim all the way right until you see a small wormhole and a small pipe in the background. You'll see this about halfway through the area. At this point, swim down until you are almost completely below the small wormhole, then flip into 3D. If positioned correctly, you can let the wormhole suck you up into the background. Once there, go down the pipe. In this small underground area, collect all the Coins by going into 3D. Be sure to get the lone Coin in the "?" block. After that, go back up the pipe into the previous area. Back here, go back through the small wormhole to reach the foreground again. Then, simply swim all the way back to the right and hit the star block to end this chapter. Chapter 4-2 ----------- Upon arrival, Squirps will leave because he has a bathroom emergency. Good riddance I say! We're not even sure if we can trust the guy. Head right and examine the locked bathroom door to find that someone or something has been waiting 100 years for some toilet paper. So it's up to us to find this... thing some toilet paper, I guess. Not exactly my idea of a vacation. You? At any rate, head right, jump onto the blocks and then onto the platform. Drop down into the pit and defeat the enemy that stretches its head out to attack you. After you do that, jump up and to the left and get onto the nearby platform, then jump up and right to reach another platform. Look above and you should see two blocks floating in the air. Jump atop them, then break the two "?" blocks to get a Coin and a Mushroom. Once you get that, drop back down and then continue all the way right, jumping from platform to platform. You'll eventually come across two status heads stacked on top of each other, sitting directly below a lightning-shaped object that flashes and disappears frequently. You can't do anything right here for now, so continue east. You will come to a set of indestructible blocks that seem to be blocking the way to something. A door, perhaps? Use Boomer to blow them away. Once you clear the blocks, lo and behold, a star door appears! Go inside. In this room, save at the nearby Save Point. After that, switch your Pixl to Slim. Jump to the platform to your right, then flip into 3D and go through the small crack that only our dear Slim can fit through. You'll emerge at the other side of the crack. Once at the other side, flip back into 2D and hit the nearby "?" block to get a Speed Flower come out. Grab it, then carefully beat the two nearby spring-like enemies, being sure to defeat their small counterparts that emerge, as well. The Speed Flower will give you double the Score and Coins you'd normally get when you beat them, but just be careful, since it's hard to control your character when you are moving so fast. After beating the enemies, jump onto the platform to your right, then flip into 3D. Then, make your way across the nearby platforms that are unreachable in 2D. Once you pass those platforms, revert back to 2D and then jump on top of the nearby tall pipe. From there, jump to the platform to the right to reach a green door. Ignore it and drop down to the area below, being sure to hit the two "?" blocks by the pipes to get two Coins, one from each. At the bottom, kill the spring enemy. After that, keep going until you come across a gap. You can't do anything in 2D, so flip into 3D. You should see a small bridge ahead of you that you can go across. Go across the bridge, hit the "?" block, grab the 8-bit buddies that come out, then flip back into 2D. Head right and drop down into the pit with several sets of blocks floating above you. Go through the star door in this area. In this next room, go right and kill all of the snake-like enemies. You'll eventually reach a "?" block. Hit it, then hit the areas left and right of the block to reveal more blocks. Two of them contain Flowers; one of which is a Slow Flower, and one of which is a Speed Flower. You can use them to kill the snake-like enemies in here for double Score and Coins if you haven't done so already. You'll come to a green door on the platform above the blocks. Go in it if you want, but there's nothing of particular interest inside other than a person who doesn't tell you anything all that useful. Go back left and exit this room completely. Back in the previous room, go right, kill the enemies, and then drop off the platform and into the pit below. Kill the spring enemy here, then flip into 3D and go through the opening to reach the other side. At the other side, take out the nearby spring enemy, then hit the four blocks floating above you; three of them contain Coins, but one contains a Zombie Shroom, which you should defeat for 300 Score. After that, jump onto the blocks and use them to make your way onto the platform to the east. Once there, a star door should be visible to you. Enter it. In this room, break the nearby "?" blocks, being sure to get the Star from the one at the end. Use said Star to go through all enemies and objects in this room while going east. When the Star runs out, kill the remaining enemies on the blocks, then when you reach the end of the room, jump onto the platform and enter the star door to reach yet another new area. Once here, go east, kill the enemies, and then jump onto the tall pipe you come across. Now, use the pipe to jump onto the blocks floating in the air. These blocks have a green door on them. Go inside. Here, you'll find the elder of this weird place. Talk to him and refuse his offer until it goes down to 10 Coins, at which point you should accept it. Now that we have the Ancient Clue, backtrack all the way back to the very first area of this place. Just keep going left and you'll eventually reach it. Back in the very first area, make your way to where Squirps is waiting to get into the bathroom. Once there, examine the bathroom door and use the Ancient Clue to cause the thing, which was actually a Pixl, to come out. The Pixl Fleep joins you. He has the ability to flip things (not in the 2D/3D kind of way, but he can flip objects). Sometimes hiddem things are revealed when you do this. Anyway, once you regain control, head all the way east until you come across the stone statue with a lightning-shaped space rift above it. Use Fleep to flip that space rift, then a Door Key will come into your possession. Nifty. Now, go back left, jump over the first gap, then jump down the second one, into a pit below. Unlock the door with the Door Key, then in the room you come to, kill the Fuzzy enemies, then hit the star block to end the chapter. Chapter 4-3 ----------- When you arrive here, swim all the way right, using Squirps to destroy every block you come across as well as kill all enemies you come across. Near the beginning of the area, if you destroy the blocks, you can find a Shooting Star item. This area has some rectangular-shaped objects that will hurt you if you get touched by them. In addition, you'll eventually reach a Super Shroom when you get about halfway through. At the end of the area, you'll come across a red X floating in the air. Use Fleep on it and flip it to reveal a green gate. Squirps will asked to be squeezed into the opening on the left side of the gate. Put Squirps in there just as he asks you to, then go through the gate to reach the next area. In this area, simply swim to the right and use Fleep to flip the red X floating in the air. After that, continue right, ignore the wormhole for now, and save your game at the Save Point. Then, enter the wormhole. In this next new area, swim all the way right until you can't anymore. At that point, swim all the way up and enter the blue wormhole in the northeast corner of the room. Also, be sure to defeat the enemies along the way before getting to that wormhole. Also, there is a Ghost Shroom in the beginning of the area. Simply swim up and destroy the blocks with Squirps to reveal it. Anyway, after you go through the blue wormhole, you'll emerge in another new area. Once here, swim right and make your way to what looks like a gas station. Before you go in though, be sure to shoot the block in the northeast corner near the gas station until it runs out of Coins. After that, enter the gas station and buy a Gold Chocolate Bar. Afterward, exit the gas station and backtrack all the way to the area where you flipped the second red X and caused the sides of a gate to appear. Once there, put Squirps into the hole on the right side, then he'll say that he is not moving unless he gets something to eat. Obviously, we've remedied that problem by buying the Gold Chocolate Bar for the little runt. Give it to him when prompted and he'll split into two for a brief time, then he'll enter both holes on the sides of the gate. After this, Squirps reverts back to his normal state, then the door of the gate is revealed. Go through it. In this area, simply kill the teleporting ball enemies, then swim to the right and hit the star block to end the chapter. Chapter 4-4 ----------- Here we are. The finale of this annoying chapter. I for one am glad, are you? Anyway, from the start, go right, save your game, then enter the star door. In the subsequent area, kill all the enemies, although it's not necessary. Then, break the two "?" blocks, one on each side of the room, to acquire a Flower and a Mushroom, respectively. Now, make your way to the eastern end of the room. Once there, jump onto the platform floating overhead, then flip into 3D and enter the hidden star door to reach the next room. In this room, hit the nearby "?" block to get a Slow Flower. Upon getting that, defeat the nearby enemy that crawls along the wall, then go left and drop into the pit and defeat the huge pig enemy. Hopefully, you'll have killed both of those enemies before the Slow Flower runs out. After that is done, switch to Peach, get back onto the higher platform above you that you entered this room on, then fly over to the left to reach the other side. At the other side, enter the nearby star door to reach the next room. In this small room, use Fleep to flip the enemy that creates a barrier around itself. After flipping it, the barrier will dissipate, so use this chance to kill the enemy. After that is done, open the chest to get a Dimension Key. Now, go back to the previous room and go right, making your way to the entrance. There, flip into 3D and enter the star door to reach yet another previously visited room. Back in this room, drop down to the floor and enter the star door you ignored earlier. In the following area, go all the way east, killing the pig enemies by using Fleep to stun them. Once you kill the enemies and reach a dead end, flip into 3D and jump up the stairs, then jump to the left onto the platform leading to the higher level of this room, then flip back into 2D. Now, kill the nearby pig enemies the same way you did last time. Then, go all the way left and unlock the locked door using your Dimension Key. You'll appear on the ceiling at this point. The only difference between the ceiling and the floor is the fact that it may take some getting used to. At any rate, head right, killing the pig enemy the same way you've been doing. After that, continue onward and enter the door at the end. In the subsequent chamber, you'll notice that you are now sideways. Better yet, you are stuck to the wall like a magnet. You should also know that there are still those annoying wall-climbing enemies in this room, so be sure to kill them when you see them and avoid taking too much damage. Anyway, take a few steps up until you reach the end of the platform. At that point, switch to Peach and use her to fly directly up. If done correctly (it may take a few tries, just so you know), you should be on a new wall. Now, walk up on this wall until you reach the end of it. At that point, fly directly upwards again and you should be on yet another new wall. Now, enter the nearby door to reach a new area. Now we're back on foot again. Nice. Defeat the annoying wall-crawling enemies in this room, then flip into 3D and drop down the stairs to the floor below. There, flip back into 2D and defeat the orange wall-crawling enemies. Afterward, hit the black arrow switch on the far left side of the room. Once that is done, you'll be back on the ceiling again. Ugh...great. If you hit the switch again though, you'll be back on the ground. At any rate, go right across the ceiling and enter the star door you come across to reach a previously visited area, except this time you will be on the ceiling. Upon reaching said room, use Peach to fly to the top of the room, where you'll find a pig enemy. Defeat it. Afterward, fly down to a lower part of the wall, then fly to the right towards the other side of the room. If done correctly, you'll be on another part of the wall on the right side of the room. At this point, switch to Mario and flip into 3D, at which point you should enter the nearby door to reach the next area. In this area, you'll be on the ceiling again, so run right and open the chest to get another Dimension Key. Upon acquiring that, backtrack all the way back to the room with the black arrow block. Once there, hit the block to cause yourself to stand on the ground again (a welcome change). Now, flip into 3D and you should see a block that is standing along the left wall. Jump on it, then jump onto the platform above you. Now, flip back into 2D, then go left and through the star door you come to. You'll be back in a familiar area. Go down and enter the door, then you'll appear the other side of the room. At this point, simply go down and enter the door you reach at the bottom. Ah, back on the ground again. Flip into 3D and enter the pipe you see. Grab the coins in the room you emerge into, though be warned that you are upside down again. After grabbing the coins, go to the extreme eastern corner of the room and hit the block until its Coins are gone. Now, backtrack left and go back up the pipe to reach the previous room. Back in this room, continue to the right and unlock the door with the key you have. In the area you come to after unlocking the door, hit the nearby black arrow block to be turned upside down again. Continue on and hit the next black arrow block you come across to be back on the ground. Now, you'll appear at what seems to be a dead end. It isn't, however, so just use Tippi's scanning ability on the eastern end of the wall to reveal a door. Take note that it could be hard to notice at first, but it's defined as a solid white spot in the wlal, as opposed to a blue and white-striped wall. When the door is revealed, enter it. In this room, go right, killing the two snake-like enemies. Continue right and hit the black arrow block to be turned sideways, onto the wall. Once on the wall, walk up, defeating the snake-like enemies. Continue up and hit the next black arrow block you come across. You'll now be turned upside down, onto the ceiling. Go right and enter the nearby star door to reach the next room. Once here, hit the black arrow block to reach the ground again. Save your game at the Save Point, then hit the black arrow block again then enter the door you came through. Back in the previous area, go left and hit the black arrow block again to reach the right side of the room this time. Go down, defeating the snake-like enemies. Go through the door at the bottom. You'll emerge into another new room. In this room, simply make your way from door to door until you reach the top, where a chest with a Dimension Key is waiting for you. Open it, then on your way back out of the room, be sure to hit the three "?" blocks on the ground in the middle of the room to get two Super Shrooms and an unexpected Zombie Shroom. Kill the Zombie Shroom. Once you exit that area, backtrack to the room where you saved a moment ago (it had a locked door in it). Back in that room, save again and unlock the door to reach the next room. In this room, you'll be attacked by Mr. L. He looks...more than familiar, don't you think? You'll have to fight Mr. L., so check the Bosses section for a strategy. After defeating Mr. L, he'll summon the Brobot and get inside it. Check the Bosses section for a strategy on Brobot as well. Upon defeat, Mr. L runs off. Squirps says a few things, and then you regain control. Enter the door after going right. In this room, a cutscene will commence where Squirps reveals himself as a prince and gives you the Pure Heart. The chapter ends and the scene switches to Castle Bleck. Where else? Castle Bleck ------------ In here, another scene with Bleck n' crew will commence. Count Bleck sends O'Chunks on another mission to stop you. Ooh, scary... Also, Nastasia begins to play on Bleck's weaknesses, and he goes to sulk in his room. Something like that. The scene will switch to more talking with Blumiere and Timpani, then you'll be back in Flipside. Flipside -------- Back here, Merlon will come and congratulate you for getting the Pure Heart. Tippi then passes out, and Merlon takes her to his house. That's where you appear at as well. Once Merlon gets done talking his head off and you are back outside, save your game at the nearby Save Point. Now, head left down the elevator, then in the following area, run all the way east and you should see a crack in the wall. Bomb the crack with Boomer, then flip in to 3D and enter the new area, flipping back into 2D as you do so. In this area, head left a bit and in between the card shop and the other building, you should see a space rift that flashes in and out. Use Fleep to flip this space rift, which will create a new path for you. Flip into 3D and walk across said path, then flip back into 2D when you reach the end, then go through the door to reach a new building. In this building, you'll have to solve a block puzzle. To the untrained eye, this puzzle seems hard. But it is not, and in fact, it's one of the easiest puzzles in the game. Just use the Byakugan or the Sharingan to solve the puzzle. Wait, I mean just follow this FAQ to solve it. This puzzle is quite simple, actually. Simply run all the way left toward the end of the room, hitting all blocks along the way. If done correctly, you'll open up a door leading to another part of this building in the center of the room. Flip into 3D and go through the newly revealed door, then continue left and go through the door to reach Flopside, a new town. Flopside -------- When you arrive in this new town, flip into 3D and follow the path left into the next area. Once there, flip back into 2D. Go all the way left towards the grandmother and grandchild, then flip into 3D and you should see an opening to the left along the wall. Go through the opening to reach another new area. In this area, go right until you come across an elevator going up. Go up that elevator to reach another floor of Flopside. Once there, enter the item shop and buy some items, as you probably need them by now. However, be sure to save at least 300 Coins, as you can use them for something very nice in the near future. After buying items, head left and you will run into Nolrem, who's name is simply Merlon spelled backward for those of you who don't like to think. Nolrem will introduce himself, then tell you to place the Pure Heart in the Heart Pillar. To do that, go left and up the elevator to the next floor. Go right and place the Pure Heart in the Heart Pillar to cause a blue door to open in Flipside Tower. Now, Nolrem will tell you to get to Flipside Tower, as Tippi has been revived and she and Merlon are waiting for you there. If you have a spare 300 Coins, you can (and should) get a pipe built that lets you warp instantly from Flipside to Flopside. This will save you some time, but it is definitely not mandatory. Still, it is a nice thing to have, and I recommend getting it. To reach the area with the guy who makes the pipe, head left and down the elevator. In the following area, flip into 3D and go left and you should see a guy who looks remarkably like Charlieton from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year- Door. Talk to him and if you have 300 Coins, tell him to make the pipe for you. Again, this is not mandatory, as it still doesn't even take long to get from Flipside to Flopside, but I do recommend doing it if you have the money. With that done (whether or not you did it), head back to Flipside. Flipside -------- Back in Flipside again, head to the Flipside Tower, saving before you go up there. Once there, go east to the blue door that was revealed when you put the Pure Heart in the Heart Pillar at Flopside. When you reach that door, you will see Merlon and Tippi. Tippi rejoins you, then you regain control. Enter the blue door to reach Chapter 5. Chapter 5-1 ----------- When you start this chapter, you'll have to go through a rather lengthy scene between the Cragnons, the locals of this wasteland. They think you have been sent by the "Rock Who Watches" as a holy one. Whatever. You'll be taken to their leader, Marbald. When he explains the situation about the Cragnons and asks you to help him, do so. Once you leave Marbald's house, you'll see what are known as Floro Sapiens come out and attack you. Apparently, these two plants know about the Pure Heart. Hmm... quite odd, wouldn't ya say? Defeat them by jumping on them and destroying their heads and their stalks. After they are defeated, you'll see more Floro Sapiens taking some more Cragnons to some unknown location. Since this is an RPG, we must help, even though we have no good reason to do so. Head all the way east, and save your game at the Save Point you come across, then enter the star door to reach the next area. In this area, head right, and use Boomer to kill the Piranha Plant and Spike Cleft enemies, then go through the second pipe you come across. Avoid touching the black enemy below the pipe, as that will take you back to Flipside. Upon going through the pipe, you'll reach a new area. Here, simply place Boomer by the mouth of each worm enemy. They will eat Boomer and be damaged. Do this twice to defeat them. Upon defeat, a chest appears. Open it to get a Bowser (2) Card. Now, exit this room. Back outside, make your way back to the star door by going left. Go left and past the star door, then you'll see two more Spike Cleft enemies as well as the Piranha Plant enemy using Boomer. After that, continue left and hit the "?" block to reveal a Flower. Touch the Flower and grab the Coins that fall down from the sky. Afterward, jump onto the blocks above you, then jump to the hill to the left. Go up the hill then drop down to the other side when you can. At the other side, flip into 3D and enter the small alcove and open the chest to get a Moon Cleft Card. After getting that, go back up the hill you climbed a moment ago. At the top, switch to Peach and use her to fly over to the left, onto another hill. There, hit the "?" block, flip into 3D, beat the Spike Cleft, then drop down into the area below. Flip into 3D and defeat the Spike Cleft with Boomer. After that, hit the three blocks in this order: left, right, and middle to cause a pipe to appear. Go through it. In this area, head all the way right, using Bowser's flame to defeat all of the elephant enemies in here. They have 100 HP, and give you 1000 Score. Nice. After defeating them all, you'll reach three blocks. Another block puzzle. I'm here to help, so calm down, you got that? Good. Anyway, hit the blocks in this order: middle, right, left, left, right, middle, right, left, right, right, middle, right, right, left, middle, middle, left, left, left, right, left, left, left, middle, and then finally middle. If done correctly, a pipe will be revealed. Go down it. You'll appear in the background. Go directly right and you'll enter a hidden path in the wall. Keep going right until you emerge from the wall. After that, go right some more and go down the pipe you come across to reach the foreground again. Back in the foreground, simply go up the nearby set of stairs, then hit the star block at the end to reach the next chapter. Chapter 5-2 ----------- When you arrive here, head east, killing all of the enemies you come across by using Boomer. Eventually, you'll reach a pool of water with a moving platform on it. Go into the water, where you'll find some Cheep Cheep enemies. Avoid them and continue down until you reach a dry portion of land in the water, at which point you should open the chest to get a Water Tablet. After getting that, jump on the chest and jump back into the water. Swim back up and get on the moving platform in the water, then jump to the platform to the right when you can. Now, enter the nearby star door to reach the next area. Here, you'll witness more of the Floro Sapiens taking the Cragnons away. They disappear down a pipe. Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about this right now. Go left and kill the enemies along the way using Boomer. Then, you will run into four bricks that make up a block below a star door floating in the air. Place Boomer by the block and it will explode, revealing a blue "!" switch. Hit the blue switch and some platforms will appear above you, allowing you a pathway to the star door. Enter the star door to reach the next area. In this area, go all the way to the right until you reach the eastern end of the area. Be sure to kill all of the enemies you encounter along the way. At the end, flip into 3D and hit all the "?" blocks to get quite a few items. Some of them contain Zombie Shrooms, so watch out. After hitting all those blocks, stay in 3D and you should see a hidden path to your left. Follow that path to reach an area below the one with the "?" blocks. In that area, flip back into 2D and switch to Bowser. Go east and you will see a flame statue surrounded by three pillars of stone. Use Bowser's fire breath on it until it becomes destroyed. After that happens, you get the Fire Tablet. Nifty. Now that you've gotten that little bit taken care of, flip into 3D and go back up to the area above, where the "?" blocks were. Once there, flip back into 2D and keep going left until you see a space rift in midair. Flip it with Fleep to create some platforms. All that's there though is what appears to be a TV (I guess a caveman's version of a TV) showing a movie of some sort. Hmm... Now that you have done that, continue left and exit through the star door. Back in the previous area, head all the way right, killing the enemies with Boomer as you do so. You'll eventually reach a huge yellow block. You can't break this yet, however. Continue right and you'll eventually come across two blocks floating in the air. Jump atop each one of them and hit the space above them to reveal two "?" blocks containing Shrooms. Once that is done, continue right and defeat the enemy with the club in between the two pipes using Boomer (like you'd expect me to say anyone else, eh?). Afterward, flip into 3D and grab the item behind the rightmost pipe, which happens to be a Mighty Tonic. Upon retrieving that, you'll see another club enemy to your right (if you are still in 3D). Beat it, flip back into 2D, save your game, and go back left and go through the star door to reach the next area. In this next new area, go east a bit and you'll run into O'Chunks. He will fight you. If you want a strategy, you know where to go. Once you defeat O'Chunks, go right a few steps, then flip into 3D and spin around the Yoshi statue to reveal a Stone Tablet atop its nose. Kill the shell enemy nearby, then jump atop Yoshi's tail, then head, then nose to reach the Stone Tablet. After grabbing that, flip back into 2D and go all the way left and exit through the star door you come across, back into the previous area. Now, run all the way left until you come across a set of stone platforms atop each other. You can either jump from block to block and gradually make your way to the top of the stone tower, or you can flip into 3D and go through a maze of blocks to reach the top. I did the former, but it doesn't matter, as you'll get there either way. Once at the top of the tower, jump around until you reveal an invisible block that spawns a ladder. Climb it up, then jump onto the nearby blocks on either side. Flip into 3D and jump onto the platform of blocks above you. Once there, you will see three huge tablets with holes in the middle of them. You have to place the three tablets you got from this place in those larger tablets. The order to put them in is Stone, Water, and Fire. After placing them in that order, you'll hear a rumbling sound and a Pixl will appear. The Pixl will ask you for your motto. Just put anything. After getting the Pixl Cudge, you regain control. By the way, Cudge has the ability to break blocks and kill enemies, since he is a hammer. Nice. Anyway, drop all the way back down to the area below, then go right until you come across that huge yellow block I told you you couldn't do anything about earlier. This time around, however, you can, since you have Cudge. Use Cudge to break the block, then go down the pipe to reach an underground area. Once there, switch to Peach and fly off the ledge you are on and go right. You should land on a small platform on the eastern end of the room. Flip into 3D there, then open the chest to get a Stone Buzzy Card. Once you get that, drop down to the pit below and hit the star block to end the chapter. Chapter 5-3 ----------- Upon arriving here, head right until you come across some blocks floating in the air. Jump across those blocks, then hit the "?" block on the last block in the air to get a Super Shroom. Now, continue to the right and you'll meet Flint Cragley. After some nonsense about his crew taking off, you regain control. Apparently, Flint wants you to find his crew so that he can progress further into this cave. Whatever. Go right and enter the pipe. In this room, drop down to the area below, past the two moving platforms. Now, go right and defeat all of the shell enemies in both 2D and 3D. You'll come to two pipes at the far eastern end of the room. Enter the rightmost pipe to reach the next room. In this room, flip into 3D and go right, being sure to hit the nearby block that's only invisible in 3D to get some 8-bit buddies. Once you get that, flip back into 2D and advance onward through the area and drop into the pit that you come to. Defeat the orange spikey enemy there using Cudge. After that, use Tippi's Wii Remote ability in the middle of the area to see a "?" block. Hit the part of the air where that block was when you used Tippi's ability. After hitting the block, you'll reveal it and a get a Coin from it. Jump atop that block and hit the air above it to reveal another "?" block that contains a Shroom. Continue to the right, defeating all of the enemies you come across. Also, be sure to hit all the "?" blocks you come across; most contain Coins, but one in particular has a Shroom inside. Eventually, you'll reach a door. Go back to the left when you reach the door, jumping over the gap. You should see a set of brick-like blocks to your left floating above the blocks that were previously "?" blocks. Hit the blocks and a ladder will come out of one of them. Climb up the ladder to reach a new area. In this area, go right and get on the platform floating in the air. Ride it to the end of the area, collecting the Coins you come across along the way. Exit the room when you're done. Back in the previous room, go all the way right, ignoring the door for now. Kill all of the Piranha Plant enemies and shell enemies you come across by using Boomer. Also, be sure to break the blocks you come across, as some of them contain stuff. Ignore the door you come across. You'll eventually reach a yellow spring beside a tall brick pillar. Jump from the spring and onto the pillar. Continue to the right and break the huge yellow block using Cudge. Enter the door that's revealed. In this area, you'll see a minecart. Looks tempting, doesn't it? Of course it does, no use denying it. Enter the minecart to fulfill your lustful desires, then enter the door you reach at the end of the ride. In the area you appear in, go right, defeat the nearby Floro Sapien, then drop down to the pit below. You'll find some Cragnons here. Unfortunately, they are brainwashed, and so they attack us. The sad thing is, we can't attack them unless we want to lose our Score. That's right; killing them decreases your Score. Oh well, that's that, huh? In this pit is a Zombie Shroom, so reveal it by hitting the "?" block down here. Beat the Zombie Shroom, then flip into 3D and continue to the right, where you will spot a small opening in the wall. Go through it and grab the hidden Spania Card. After getting that, go back left into the area with the Cragnons, then run all the way left, staying in 3D to avoid the Cragnons. When you reach the left end of the pit, jump back up to the area above via the lone block. Upon reaching the upper area again, jump onto the nearby platform of bricks. At this point, flip into 3D and you should see some indestructible blocks impeding your path. Use Boomer or Cudge to dispose of them, then continue on. and flip back into 2D when you reach the end of the block platform. At that point, jump to the platform to the right, then you'll see more blocks that are floating in the air. Jump on those, then into an alcove to the right. Inside, you'll find one of Flint's men. Nice. Talk to him and he'll introduce himself as Monzo. He'll go back to see Flint, and then you'll regain control. At this point, retrace your steps back to the minecart that you used to get into this area. When you reach the minecart again, ride it back to the other side, then go through the door to reach the previous area. In the previous area, go left until you reach the door I told you to ignore earlier. Before going in though, enter the nearby pipe to the right and you'll reach a new room. In that room, you'll see what looks like a block in the wall. Actually, it is a block. Use Cudge to smash it away, then flip into 3D and go through the newly revealed path. Open the chest in here to get a Shroom Shake. Now, exit this room. Back in the previous room, finally go through the door that you're so eager to enter. In this next room, flip into 3D and enter the minecart. At the end, go through the door to reach the next room. In this room, kill the nearby Floro Sapien enemy. Then, drop down into the pit below, where you should hit the "?" block to find a Zombie Shroom. Kill it and then hit the nearby brick block to reveal a ladder. Climb it up, then switch to Peach and fly to the right, towards the other side. At this point, kill the the nearby Floro Sapien, continue right, and drop down into another pit. Now, go left through this pit, killing all of the Floro Sapiens you come to. Be sure to flip into 3D to avoid the brainwashed Cragnons. Eventually, you'll end up back to where you were, where the Zombie Shroom was revealed. Climb up the ladder, then make your way back over to the pit again. Once there, you should see another one of Flint's crewman. Talk to him. By the way, this one's name is Hornfels. He'll run off to Flint, then you'll regain control. Backtrack all the way back to the very beginning of the
