Yes, you can change the color of your bowling ball if you hold in one of the directional arrows before it shows your characters. Each directional arrow is a different color.

Yes, what you have to do is get to the pro level or 1000 skill level!!!!!!

Also you can get your skill level up past 1000 skill points and you should a sparkly and shiny bowling ball. I hoped this helps.

If you're first player you get a blue bowling ball.
If you're second player you get a red bowling ball.
If you're third player you get a yellow bowling ball.
If you're fourth player you get a green bowling ball.
