I have the Wii Lan Adapter but it is too short to plug into our modem. So we bought another ethernet cable, but the wii is not connecting. My question is do we have to use the cable that came with the wii or can we use any ethernet cable to plug into the lan adapter? Thanks for you help

MasterHunter

Ethernet cables do not work with the Wii, you're a better off buying a Nintendo USB Wi-Fi connector as they provide a wireless signal from your PC to your Wii without the need for wireless broadband.

MasterHunter misunderstood your question.
You should be able to use any ethernet cord with the Wii LAN adaptor.
Try adjusting/turning off your firewall/security settings in your modem.
