You just have to talk to him again after saving him.
Just so you know, you fight 8 bosses in a row to get an unbreakable shield.

You have to go to Lanayru caves and bomb the rock wall. Then, you have to use a key to try and get a Timeshift Stone around the Gorge and back to Lanayru. Then, you need to take the Life Tree Fruit to the Temple of Hylia, then return it in 1k years to him so he starts the minigame.
If you beat 8 bosses in aa row in boss battle you get the Hylian Shield.
