Why am I am I not able to ring the bell so I can buy my bug net? Is there a trick to throwing that I don't know???? Someone please help me so I can get on with the game, thanks!!!!

I wasn't aware you had to throw anything. After you get far enough you should get a Slingshot as a gift, try hitting the bell with the slingshot.

Just use your slingshot to ring the bell

U can throw it's just way harder...try aiming in front of the direction he is going & or going down on the lower level & throw as he is moving in front of you as he is getting to go back up & around...but I didn't get mine till I got my slingshot bc I didn't have enough money the 1st time I went up

You can ring the bell before you get a slingshot. On the top level by the bazaar, pick up a jar. While facing towards the Light Tower, wait for Beedle's ship to pass in front of you. When the blue circle indicating where the jar would land is on the bell (you may have to adjust your position a bit), swing the remote and the bell should ring. Jump down and climb the rope to get into the shop.

After you get far enough in the game you should get a sling shot.shoot it with it.

It is nearly impossible to throw something, and if you get far enough into the Woods to save the Kikwis, you get a Slingshot to fire pellets at it. Even better, you get a Beetle to hit the bell without wasting ammo.
